Introduction and ? about Atkins and breastfeeding?
Hi everyone! I'm Hannah, and I have a three and a half week old baby. Two years ago I was seriously on Atkins before my wedding - I went from 190 to 150, and gained back about 25 of that before I found out last fall that I was pregnant. I gained 60 pounds during my pregnancy, nearly 40 of which are gone now! Woo hoo! Anyway, I'm breastfeeding, and hoping to get back onto Atkins to get my newlywed body back.
Does anyone know what the rule of thumb is for Atkins and breastfeeding? Any info is appreciated! Thanks, Hannah |

hi
DANDR (doc atkins new diet revolution) states that you aren't supposed to do induction if you are breastfeeding. However, I'm a breastfeeding mom and I do induction. A rule of thumb, that I'm finding out myself, you want to eat enough to keep up with milk production. I haven't been and I find that I'm weak very frequently. So eat as much meat as you can and do the amount of veggies recommended. Snacks are a must, so allow youself some of the legal stuff. Like olives or cheese cubes.
We have a challenge going on over in the low carb challenges section. It's called August Labor Day Nummies Challenge. It's a bunch of breastfeeding moms doing some form of LC. Join us! Tannie
