Thanks Diane!!
Hi Heidi! So have you had much morning sickness?? When did it start for you? I have yet to really be nauseated, I have in the last two days though felt REALLY tired and a little lightheaded but that's about it so far. |

Congrats and welcome Kitara!
Diane, could you possibly change my stats to 27 weeks please? Somehow 3 weeks got lost in the shuffle. ![]() I'm officially swollen now, I'm only comfortable in flip flops AND it hurts to type. I'm hoping it's only the hot and humid weather and that it won't keep me from working through to the end. I'm self-employed, so that wouldn't be a good thing. I wake up every night now with my hands tingly or numb. Diane & Summer, have you started to feel movement yet? It's definitely one of the best parts of being pregnant. Well I'm going to lie down, I'm still recovering from a 2-day work sprint with only 2 hours of sleep in between. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......

Thanks Sylv and lowcarbinmama!
This may be a stupid question but being I'm overweight now with the baby, how is my stomach going to look as I progress? I already have bad fat rolls will they stretch with the stomach as it protrudes or will it not even look like I'm pregnant because of the fat rolls? I see Sylv's picture and it looks great, like all the normal pregnant women pics, but me I'm wondering how I'm going to look at 27 weeks. |

Stacy - I thought the 2nd trimester started at 12 weeks too but apparently it doesn't start until 14 weeks!
At least that's what I'm getting from the websites I visit. Tri means 3 right ... 3, 6, 9, 12 ... I don't get it. Oh well.Kitara - My MS started around 6 weeks and it's lasted up until now. My doctor prescribed a vitamin that I take before bed and it really helps. I went a couple days without it and really noticed the difference in how I felt. It's called Premesis. All I really want now is some energy! ![]() I don't know about the stomach thing. Some full sized woman I know didn't even really show until the very end. I've always had a little belly and it's REALLY popped out since being pregnant this time. Now I actually look pregnant instead of just fat. ![]() Sylv - So sorry you're so swollen. It's probably the heat. I was badly swollen with my daughter too. I couldn't even feel my feet when I touched them. Scary. I hope some rest will clear up some of the discomfort. Slow down on work girl! Last edited by Heidi-M : 08-06-2003 at 10:46 AM. |

Afternoon everyone!!
Welcome KITARA!! I am not much ahead of you. I am 6 weeks 3 days today. EDD 3/28/04. DIANE: Can you change my stats too? I am 6 weeks now. I think a week got lost in the shuffle Thanks so much for keeping up with all this for us!!My dr gave me the Premesis vitamins also to try. They gave them to me as prenatals and said they would help with the morning sickness but they don't help me really. I am really nauseous all day and it started at about 5 weeks. But when I read the premesis package insert, it seems to be like an addition to a prenatal NOT a prenatal (it just has folic acid, B6 and B12 in it.) My doc didn't tell me to take it in ADDITION to anything else. I have my 1st doc appointment on Monday, 8/11 so I'll ask him. HEIDI: Do you take the Premesis with another vitamin? I did find something to help my nausea though......lemon candy. I suck on a piece pretty much all day BUT it helps tremendously!! Yesterday I felt good and had lots of energy---I think I had a sugar high Trying not to eat so many today. Not exactly Atkins friendly, huh? I don't know much else. I am just really-really tired and could put my head down and sleep about anywhere I think. AND I just feel bloated and Blah! Talk you later!! Laura EDD 3-28-04 WELCOME CHERRIE! |

Sylv - I changed your stats. Not sure what happened there, but if anyone else needs changes, let me know!
I actually have started feeling movement. It started about 5 weeks ago, then one night it was like POW and ever since then, has been very strong. It is the greatest feeling. Sometimes I get a little aggrivated when I'm trying to sit a certain way and I'm like really busy, but then I go home, relax and just feel him move. Yes HIM, for those who didn't see last weeks post, I found out it's a boy on Friday!Kitara - I never had morning sickness I am a big girl myself. I started Atkins at 245, lost 70 lbs, and when I got pregnant I was about 180. Most of my "fat" is in my stomach. I'm 21 weeks and I started showing about a month or so ago. You can definitely tell I am pregnant! |

Hello all...slow here this week I see! Well must be the late summer to blame, everyone trying to enjoy whats left of it.
![]() Kitara ~ Being a large woman I can tell you that it takes us a bit longer to show. I am 17w6d and I look like I have just gained weight, but not like I am pg. Its a little frustrating for me, but I try not to let it get to me. I have what I call "Two tummies" instead of one nice smooth pg belly like the smaller women tend to have, and both tummies stick out, so basically I just look like I am a really LARGE woman, getting larger. So anyway...I sometimes hang out at babycenter dot com at the big beautiful and pregnant board. Lots of other plus sized women there who are dealing with similar issues. It helps to know you are not alone. Most of the other women have stated that by the end of 6months beginning 7 you start to look more pg. HTH ![]()

Count me in as big, beautiful and pregnant. I am going to run over to that site and check it out. I keep wondering what I am going to wear. I've lost 80lbs on Atkins and am down to 260, but that is pretty big yet for being pregnant. At least my dr does not think it is a big deal at all.
My build is that I have a "small" waist - I cut in quite a bit. Large busted, but most weight on the bottom. I have the slight hangy tummy, but less so since the weight loss. I keep wondering what that hangy will do when put under pressure. So far I have lost 4 lbs while pregnant, and I am getting in good quantity and variety of food each day, not low carb, and not without the occaisonal treat. I'll take it as long as it lasts. I need to set a goal of getting a pic of me in my siggy. I feel like I know all these faces but no one knows me. I promise I'll spare you all a pic of my belly as it blossoms, tho. ![]()

I feel so relieved!!!
On Tuesday I went for my weekly Dr appointment ( I am due this Friday) and my Dr said that based on the measurements of my tummy, the baby had not grown in 5 weeks. Well of course I just flipped out! I panicked and started thinking the worst. She (my Dr) said it was possible that the baby was malnourished due to a problem with the placenta passing nutrients to the baby and that I might need an emergency c-section. So she scheduled an emergency ultrasound which I had this morning.
Anyways......... first of all, I found out that I have a little girl, second that she is very healthy, third that she is almost 8 lbs and fourth....I got to see her face! She has such a cute little nose and it seems she has a lot of hair. I have to say, seeing her on the screen and being told that she was perfectly fine and healthy made this the happiest moment of my life. After having a miscarriage with my first pregnancy, I dont' think I could have taken it if anything would have gone wrong.I just had to share ![]() *waves to all the new people* |

Congrats to the newly pregnant ladies!
I will be leaving this thread now as I am no longer pregnant. I delivered my daughter on monday evening. It was a very easy labor and delivery. I really had no idea it could be so fast or easy. Now I know what marye is talking about with 8 children.. If it is tis easy with all of them I would have 8 too if not more. We have been home now for a few days and I feel so good. She sleeps very well and is very easygoing. Almost never cries. I am very happy and consider myself very blessed. I hope all of you have safe and healty pregnancies and that your deliveries are as easy as mine was. I also hope that those who are lurking and hoping that a baby will come your way will get the opportunity to enjioy such a wonderful gift very soon. |

Laura - I take the Premesis with an generic prenatal vitamin. Last time I was taking a prescription prenatal but my doctor didn't give that to me this time. Just the Premesis prescription for 4 months. I've been bad about taking the regular prenatal but as of this week, I've taken it everyday. He gave me another trick too and it really depends on your personal feelings towards it and your doctor's feelings towards it. He said that I could take a Unisom sleeping pill with the Premesis each night and the combination really helps a lot. It's in a safe drug class but people still have their feelings on it. I was willing to try it though because I'm the boss at my job and I can't really miss too much work from being sick, pregnancy related or not. He told me that his wife had severe hyperemesis (sp?) (where you are nauseous the entire pregnancy, vomitting too) during all her pregnancies and she did this but using regular B6, B12, and Folic Acid and all their 6 kids turned out great. The combination really works but it does leave me a bit more tired than I normally would be.
I did a bad thing yesterday and sucked on some Lemonheads candy. They were so yummy. I've been craving lemon in a big way lately. I also bought some lemonade flavored gum. What do you guys do when a not-so-low-carb-friendly craving comes around? WELCOME to the new mommies and CONGRATS to those who've had their babies! |
