For women only - Dr. update-Provera???

Well, following up on my post concerning the possible cancer of the uterius, well, went yesterday and had the endoscopy done and yes, for me, it hurt like he!!. Now the wait on results. Anyway, saying that all is o.k. and there are no bad little cells in there she was still thinking of removal, which was alright with me until she said she could not do it vaginally. Well, I really do not cherish the idea of an abdominal cut Although she did say that if I was to drop the WEIGHT my body may fix itself. Saying that the estrogen in the fat cells my be adding to my problem. Well, that is doable. Now she has prescribed my PROVERA 10MG for the 10 days before my period. Well, the side effects look as if they could be worse than my problem.

Have any of you taken Provera (progesterine) and what were your side effects???? Increased appetite was one mentioned. yea, give me something that makes me want to eat when you say lose weight

Still holding my breath on the test being o.k., but, I dont think I am going to take this PROVERA!!!!!

Hope to hear from those in the know,

Vicki

hi there!

provera was just awful for me. i gained almost 10 lbs of water weight overnight, and had period like cramps from the onset of taking the pill. if really made me feel like crap. i only took it for 7 of the 10 days i was told to, and it still worked, so...... anyways, good luck to you, and stay healthy!

I take Provera 5-7 days a month to hopefully start my TOM. Last month it worked in 4 days, this month I am on my 5th day and so far no TOM. Anyway, I actually had a good whoosh last month on the Provera and this morning I was down 2lbs after about a 3 week stall. My appetite does seem to increase but so does my metabolism. Things move through much quicker if you know what I mean. I feel much better on it than off it, the PMS isn't as bad.
OF course this is only my second month so things could change. Good luck.

No idea how you will react to it everyone is different but I did v badly on it. I gained 8lbs back and ws always hungry despite eating less and less and exercising to try and reverse the effects. The best I could do was slow it right down even on LC. I hated the way it made me feel (irritable, down, etc) I think it is poison and so do many others on the BBs.

By all means try it to see if it will help but it didn't work for me at all. The month after I stopped taking it I dropped all 8lbs and a few more besides. Makes ya think.

I took the natural form of provera, prometrium for almost a year. It totally straightened out my periods, I am REGULAR now and I had no side effects from the medication AT ALL...no weight gain, nothing! Best of luck to you!

I was wondering if anyone had tried a natural form of progesterin and how it worked for them. Wouldnt you think that a doctor should try and measure your hormones (some type of blood test) first, before saying, oh, you need progesterin.......... Who really knows, I realize hormones change daily, but, you could at least get an idea if one is really low in one area. I am not happy with this and I think I will be checking with another doctor also.

Thanks
Vicki
