O. M. G.

It is amazing the amount of damage I was able to do in just a few weeks. Not to mention, I had done quite a bit better since I had been home from my vacation and I really probably did lose a few of those pounds...

201.4 I have to be accountable. Soooooo mad at myself and my stupid choices. Now that I know, I will TOTALLY be watching every bite. I'll also be exercising virtually every day. This STINKS.

Remember - you physically did NOT eat enough calories to gain that much fat. 3500 calories = 1 pound. There's no way you consumed THAT many calories. This tells you that the "damage" is temporary and with a few days of cleaner eating will come right back off. Your body is holding fluids due to the onslaught of items it's not used to eating - high processed I'm sure, and full of sugars, carbs and sodium?

Yes, it's done, but food can't hold this much power over us.

I am exactly a pound down from last Monday so progress is good. However I'm 2.9 pounds up from a lower weight I saw during the week. I only "count" Mondays so that I can be consistent in trending but it stinks to know there was a lower number I *could* have claimed! I know it's exactly like I was saying above - I didn't eat enough extra calories - 10,150 to be exact - to legitimately *gain* the almost 3 pounds in a matter of a couple of days but it's a bummer anyway.

Thanks, Heather. I know I did some damage, but yes, that does seem crazy high! I know the thing to remember is this is going to be a life-long issue, so I need to get right back to it - and I have. I'll be going to the gym after my eye doctor appointment this afternoon - right before my monthly WLS support group meeting. Back-to-back good things for me to be doing will be helpful - I hope.

And congrats on your downward trend, even though you didn't see the lowest number. It just isn't as fast or easy for us - but it stinks when you are doing everything right almost all of the time (you - not me!! lol) and you still get such small progress, I know!

Wednesday check-in. I'm 200.6 this morning. Trending down.

I've exercised three days in a row, too. Last night was about 2.75 miles on elliptical and treadmill - so happy I'm even able to jog a little (about 8 minutes of it). My knee is a little achy this morning, but nothing too bad.

My goal by next Monday is somewhere in the 198th pound or less.

I will weigh this coming Monday, but part of me does not want to.... I had a work trip which I used as a mini vacation.... I fully expect to be up in weight.

I weigh less on Fridays than I do on Mondays.

Another reason to dislike Mondays. I need to get a grip on my weekends. I run A LOT on them, but I guess I do other things too...

I thought distance running makes one retain water?

The salt capsules and electrolytes I take in probably make me retain a bit, but I sweat out as much, if not more, than I take in. Even though I'm puffy at the end of a long run I seriously weigh about 4 pounds less than when I started the run.

This is what I can wring out of my shirt, and this is only after an 8 mile run!

Down 3.8 pounds since last Monday - BAM! Thank you running!

I was 7 pounds down *immediately* post long run Saturday so I knew it would be a down number. That was after sweating out exactly 3 pounds during the 12 miles so I also knew it would not as far down as THAT, but close.

That's a little over 6 pounds in 3 weeks, which is 2 pounds a week. Totally acceptable. If only I could get my post run "hungries" under control I bet it would be a little MORE acceptable.

I weigh a million pounds.

Okay...well, not that much. Honestly, I didn't weigh and I know I should have.

I need to get better at this. Starting over and over again stinks.

OMG, situation is not fun, but your response made me snort. Is it too demoralizing to weigh everyday? For me, tracking food and weighing daily are probably my most important maintenence tools. I know daily weighing isn't for everyone.....

Lol HT that cracked me up too. I actually wanted to weigh today but got an email from my boss asking me to come in early and I just saw it this morning! So, I was in a bit of a rush and forgot what i was doing.

Last night I had some good eye openers. As you all know I can be down on myself for not losing back down to my lowest in late 2011. Well last night i was looking for some documents and saw old photos. Photos from when I was very young and "not that fat" according to my 355lb, 30 year old self. Before my surgery, I wanted to get back THERE. Well, as it turns out I was quite a lot fatter than i remembered lol I think of my 23 year old self as being close to where i am now, but no, my face was still really fatty, and my tummy. I am certainly trimmer now. On the other hand, I found some capri pants from 2011 and although they are a size 12 still, they are a SMALL size 12. I didn't try them on, but I'm almost certain they won't fit anymore. They look tiny!!!

Soooo, I'm pretty much back where I started. But, you are right, I had to weigh to know what I was doing. Now I know and it will help me stay accountable.

I did a mile on the elliptical and 1.6 miles on the treadmill last night. I ran about 8 minutes of that time. I probably need to up this to at least 3 total miles. I'll do 3 miles total next time.

Good for you. When we avoid unpleasant situations (ie weighing when we know we are up) we never really have to face them. That's how I gained so much before surgery. I stopped looking, I stopped being accountable, I ignored the number. I knew the "truth" but as long as I didn't see the number I could pretend it was a different truth.

I highly recommend going down pants sizes frequently. I was looking at some pictures of me on vacation last year, and I look much more put together in the pictures where I'm wearing the best fitting capris. I brought along a pair that really were too big, and I look bigger and a little sloppy in the pics when I'm wearing them.

Yeah. I'll start. I'm up two pounds. I didn't eat 7,000 extra calories. I have actually been quite careful. However, I did eat a lot of carbs and perhaps too much salt. I didn't have enough water in the last few days. I exercised a few times, but I also have messed up my knee again...apparently it wasn't an isolated incident. Very upset about that. In any case, the Thanksgiving-in-July meal is history, and I am back to basics - again. Sorry that you all have to hear my yammering and whining...I kinda do this for myself, though. I need to see the crap I'm thinking.

Here's to a really great week.
