I will Never forget my first 5k run/walk in New Orleans , the friends, food, drinks,(Cajuns do it right lol) Really a nice celebration all for the winners of the age groups. All I expected of my self was that I wouldn't be last in. Was My legs hurting ??? Absolutely!! I enjoyed the feeling of camaraderie and music and knew this was some thing I wanted to pursue. Of course now that I have found these running maniacs it makes me sadder that I have to put it on the back burner for a little while. Jesse jump in they are very motivating .

I didn't start until I had dropped over 120-130 pounds. I always wanted to but didn't. Then I signed up for a run as motivation and started couch 2 5k. I was inconsistent until the past year when it stopped being a chore and became something I loved.

I HATED running or even walking from as far back as I could remember until I was about 45 & had lost about 160 pounds. I was just a fast walker, but it got to the point where it just seemed like I should. I started pushing myself to go a few more seconds and then a few more minutes, and now I have also learned to love it. I miss it when I don't do it...and I know it helps my mood and my general outlook on things. I am not fast and I take breaks to walk often, but I'm able to run so much farther than even a few months ago that it is pretty cool. I also know if I didn't walk/jog like I do I would gain weight at an alarming rate!
