WLS What are we eating/doing today - September 2013!

Just starting the September thread! I will post my menu tomorrow.

chewiegand 09-02-2013 10:30 AM

I'm here. Having a bit of a restricted eating time right now. It started Saturday and continues today. Oh well, I guess it's good for more losses. :)

Love having a Monday off with nothing to do.

myyellowstang 09-02-2013 11:26 AM

Today I've had a protein drink for breakfast, some beef jerky then a protein bar a little later for lunch. I'm not pushing fluids like I should be so the weight I lost earlier has found it's way back on in water. Two mile run yesterday - not fun. It was my first since feeling bad. Today I'll push for 2 more minimum when it gets darker and temp drops (ha! drops!). At least when it's in the 80's and not as sunny and humid. Last night it was 930pm before we went out because it had *just* hit below 90.

Hot Tamale 09-02-2013 04:01 PM

I went for a long & fast walk this morning - my stairs and jogging on Saturday left me with sore knees so no jogging today... I'm just feeling puffy and flabby. I remain in the 197th pound... I just have to drop some weight! I was thinking my 3 year anniversary of my gastric bypass will be on 11/9...my goal is to weigh 182 on that day. I feel kinda dumb - I have been throwing numbers around for over a year now, but manage to stay in the same few pounds. I guess I should be happy for that, but I know why I'm not doing better...I'm slipping back into bad eating. So, know better, do better, right?

Jesse 09-02-2013 04:49 PM

Activity goal: weights 2 x a week in addition to daily activities like walking.

Food: I have drifted up towards 1100 calories a day. I think I need to be at this level. If I am going to eat 1000-1200 calories a day I need to own it and plan for it, so those 1200 are nutritious. I don't know if 1200 will put me in maintenance but if it does, so be it. If I keep losing slowly, that would be great too :)

chewiegand 09-03-2013 06:14 AM

I did so good till yesterday. Dh just had to pull out the deep fryer and make French fries. Accckkkk I had a few, then a few more, then a few more. GRRRRRRRR Not good. First time I have actually gone over my calories for the day since I started tracking a week ago. I know that's not much tracking but it's a big deal to me. I am going to push the water today and 100% back on track---no snacking.

1200 should not put you in maintenance. You should still lose, if you've upped your activity then you *need* to up your calories. Which is probably why you have been creeping up in calories.

myyellowstang 09-03-2013 07:06 AM

3 miles in this morning. I think I'm due for some new shoes - yup.

So, the recent not feeling good combined with starting to eat *real* food again over the weekend brought those 6 pounds back again. Time to start peeling them off again one at a time. Pushing the water today, something I'm not good at at home really.

B - preanut butter cookie protein drink
L - it'll have to be something from the cafeteria, or a protein drink
s - apple or protein
D - most likely leftover fajitas

1200 is my goal to lose that the website I use to track my food on said for me. Again, I am only 5'2" and old(54).

But you're active. :)

Maryposa 09-03-2013 10:50 AM

B - White Chocolate Mocha Protein shake
S - Atkins daybreak bar (150 cal)
L - BBQ Chicken salad
S - Beef Jerky
D - more salad
S - raspberries

myyellowstang 09-03-2013 11:59 AM

I bought cafeteria chili for lunch. Fail. It was greasy and the beans were HARD and UNCOOKED! So I threw it away.

I had popcorn instead. :o It was tasty though. Prolly pay for it in an hour or so when my body says it wasn't really worth it.

I don't want to alarm you if this is working for you, but either I am in a stall or I lose super super slowly at 1200 calories per day. Like 2 -3 pounds a month slow. I was mostly eating in the 800-950 range during the 6 - 12 months post surgery. At about 12 months out I found I just had no energy at that level so I increased to 1000 -1200. I think a lot of people lose at 1200, but I just thought I'd share in case you're stalling or losing slower than you want.

Yeah, just really started being active. When I log my exercise, it gives me more calories but so far, I don't use them. I rarely get to 1200 anyway.

myyellowstang 09-04-2013 05:29 AM

2 miles done this morning. With my new Garmin. :D

B - peanut butter cookie protein drink
L - canned lentil soup
s - protein drink?
D - no idea!

No much of a plan. I have the stuff for lunches in the fridge, I've just been lazy about making them up the night before!

Hot Tamale 09-04-2013 04:15 PM

My eating is so off-track right now. I cave for the dumbest things. Just now it was a big tortilla with my taco fixings, which a few years ago I wouldn't have even considered. I MUST stop this! I did walk and do stairs today after work...about 1.5 miles and 16 flights of stairs. My fitbit only counts going up, by the way... lol If I wasn't exercising I KNOW I would be at least 20 pounds heavier than I am. Exercise helps in so many ways.

True. They say 3500 calories extra equals a pound. I think that's crap. There's no way I'm eating THAT much more to warrant the scale going up that much in 6 months. Ditto on the exercise. I run many times a week - I can only imagine what it would be if I didn't!

I notice my cravings go away the longer I abstain from the food I'm craving. But it's that initial bump of getting "off" the food that hurts!

Hot Tamale 09-04-2013 05:04 PM

I agree about the "food bump." I'm thinking I need to really reel things in - as in a few days of protein shakes and greek yogurt...or something similar. I also need to not bring junk into the house, too...doesn't matter how many other people are in this house - they will get by without potato chips and tortillas and all that other stuff for a few weeks until I'm stronger about all of it. That, and keep exercising!

I'm going for the clean whole raw rood thing. Chicken breast. Veggies. Fruits (within reason - the watermelon keeps falling in my mouth by the truckloads!). Just stuff I know I like, I know tastes good, and I know I will lose on.

Back to yoga for me too. Darnit!

And I'm running 60 miles this month for the #milesformamafoodie thing that Nik at BF is doing to honor her mother this month. I did just under 40 last month and kinda slacked, so 60 is *easily* doable, and it helps me with accountability!

myyellowstang 09-05-2013 07:30 PM

Went to yoga tonight. Felt great but MAN I can tell its been too long. :/

myyellowstang 09-06-2013 06:00 AM

B - peanut butter cookie protein. This bag has lasted a long time, it's NOTHING like mint cookie. Won't buy again.
L - chicken breast, chickpeas, tomato, avocado, snap peas and hummus. Lunch of champions lol
s - apple or peanut butter cookie protein
D - unsure, football tonight

No yoga or run tonight. Son has a game so I'll be going to watch him march halftime. I've lost 5.8 pounds since Monday. Score!

chewiegand 09-06-2013 06:46 AM

My exercise class whipped my butt last night. I get so tired and sore. I ended up using my ankle weights for the first time and had to take them off for the second set---just couldn't do it. lol I made a braised Mexican beef stew last night---it cooked in the oven for 4 hours. I had never reconstituted dried chilies before and cooked with them---very deep flavor. Dh loved it. I only ate one little piece---beef is hard for me to eat. I ended up having a cheese stick and called it a day.

Lol, okay. I always hated to hear this myself but it's true! Your muscles will be sore when you overuse them no matter what, but if you don't give them proper recovery fuel (protein) afterwards then they will be even MORE sore.

I posted in the wrong month thread, that is how upset my head is right now! :(

I tried to run this morning with Molly, but there's something wrong with her. She didn't even make it a half mile - she was balking on me and kept trying to sit down. Her mouth was foamy and drooly and she was mouth breathing. It's about 70 degrees so she's not too hot. She didn't really eat much last night either. We turned right around and now we're going to go to the doctor instead. He opens at 8 so we'll need to be there around 740 to get in as a drop in. She NEVER ever doesn't want to run, it's her favorite thing - so I think she's sick. I'm very worried about her!!!

Fever, red raw throat. Fatigue. She got a abx and b12 injection, as well as 10 days of oral abx. Poor thing. I knew when she didn't want to run something wasn't right.

Vet said most likely upper respiratory infection, nothing intestinal - her stool was negative.

Maryposa 09-09-2013 11:39 AM

I was depressed this weekend. But I did catch up on sleep (I haven't been sleeping well past few weeks). I feel better today.

B - Vanilla coffee protein shake made with water
S - Cracker Barrel snack size sharp cheddar
L - Pre-portioned, pre-packed Asian chicken salad
S - Dannon Light & Fit carb & sugar control yogurt
D - Beef merlot and broccoli

appx 1100 cal

chewiegand 09-10-2013 07:40 AM

Mary--how's your new job? What do you do? Are you still dancing?

Maryposa 09-10-2013 06:27 PM

Job is ok. Sleep has not been great. If I have anything to be bummed about it's just being lonely (not in general, I mean not having a SO).

Yesterday I went to a hoop jam in the park and practiced my hoop, poi and fan veils... I was about to practice my butterflies with my flamenco skirt and got called back into work haha

I do need dancey type stuff.... I just do.

Thanks for asking! :hugs:

Maryposa 09-10-2013 06:29 PM

B - White Chcolate Mocha protein shake
S - Snack size package sharp cheddar cheese
L - maybe 1/2 of a pre-proportioned, pre-packed salad (tight sleeve day?)
D - Chicken and broccoli with alfredo sauce

Yesterday I said I was gonna have yogurt but I didn't eat it... I also brought yogurt today, and didn't eat it again
