WLS What are we eating/doing today AUGUST (Heather's birthday!) 2013!

Welcome to the August accountability thread. This is where we post our meals, good or bad, and the workouts/exercise we do (or do not - no judgement!) do for the day...

It's my birthday month! So here's my cake, but not really cake so we don't all go crazy tempted by looking at it all month!

It's not low carb, but at least I was close to my calories.

I've never had it or heard of it so I don't know. I do know 8 oz of unsweetened almond milk has about 60 calories. not sure if your drink had added sugar or not, but that's a place to start.

And on the guy friend. Who knows where it will go, but it's an awesome start!
I'm bringing over August from the July thread.

Mary--do you mix your protein powder with your hot coffee in the morning? I have been doing the RTD premier protein shakes but they are pricey and I have a ton of pp in my cabinets. I do add a spoon of coconut oil to my morning coffee so not sure how that would mix with pp.

No, my morning coffee shake is cold... like a frappe.

I'm having my new big train mocha frappe right now.... made with water and ice, so no added cals... 21 protein and 130 cals. 110mg caffeine which is 25mg less than what I have when I have my shakes with starbucks via packs mixed in. I hope I don't notice a difference! lol

The taste is really good! I often hate protein powders mixed with WATER and ice.... so my cals are usually higher... but this one I could do!

I just noticed, in case anyone is interested, they sell a big train fit frappe variety pack here... 12.99 to try all 5 flavors.

Since the mocha is good, I am now buying the vanilla and the espresso

How long should it take to get my B12 up? I started on the sublingual supps last week but they are only 200mcg. I take 2 a day. I also ordered a liquid but it hasn't arrived yet. I am so down in the dumps. GRRRRRR Stupid wls clinic---I'm still annoyed about them waiting 6 weeks to notify me.

Spring Valley makes a SL 2500mcg that I use. I get it at WM, probably can find it at Target, etc...

I ate well this morning, and went for a walk with the dog, but then I went to a graduation party. Not sure if I feel I was out of control or not. I did plan on having a piece of cake, but instead had cake balls. They went down easily. I find them harder to measure than one piece of cake ~ one planned on and accounted for piece of cake is consumed, then plate is thrown away, and I'm done with it. Didn't plan on the cake balls though and I lost track of how many I ate (I'm guessing four). I'm okay with occasional indulgences that are planned for, but I don't like feeling out of control with choices. I think I'm half one, half the other today. Anyhow, party is over and there are no cake balls here, so back on track.

Ohhhh, Mary, hope things went well!

Jesse - I would have a hard time with that, too. They look so small...so easy to mess up with. I applaud you for stopping at 4.

I am still slightly amazed, but I actually went for a short walk this evening. Maybe ten minutes worth. It is a start, though. I still can't take a deep breath without a little discomfort, but I managed all right. Eating is still not as big a deal as it was before, but I can tell I'll be wanting more soon.

I've drifted up to 1000 cal. average, and weight loss has stalled. I'm not too worried yet but it makes me wonder what my maintenance calories will be in the future. At 1200 a day are you seeing weight loss, or maintaining? I know you are keeping your carbs very low.

I had my meds, crystal light and a couple strawberries when I got out of bed.

I just finished (took me 30 mins) a starkest tuna salad kit. Where you mix in the mayo, relish and then there's crackers and it's all in this cute little plastic container ... easy to mix and no spoon or fork....but a wooden thingamajig.

If I had a job it would be a great thing to take to work LOL

My kids love those. I can't stomach mayo though... . I used to just slather that stuff on BLT's pre-op. It was more like BMTs... bacon, MAYO, tomato!!

I know this question was for Mary, but TBH I can maintain on a LOT of calories if I make them the right kind of calories. It's true it does come down to calories in, calories out... but with a caveat. If I eat a lot of carb calories my body burns those and leaves/deposits any extra as fat or weight gain. If I make the majority of them protein (even if I consume the identical amount!) then I either maintain or actually drop pounds.

If I eat 1200 a day, regardless of the makeup of calories, I drop weight. But I burn on average 2400 calories a day, more on run days. It's just when I eat closer to 1800-2000 that WHAT calories you eat becomes as important as HOW MANY calories you eat.

Now knowing and acting upon are two different things... I do well, but let my brain get sidetracked too easily lately. No more!

At this point in time there is little to no malabsorption. All that fun time is gone.

I thought that the malabsorption thing was permanent for bypass people? No? Wow, that's interesting.

The intestines grow back some of the fila (sp?) although vitamin malabsorption is permanent, some degree of calorie malabsorption is lost as the body grows those.

Ok, I don't get this sublingual B12. It melts under the tongue but then I swallow it. Is that right? I don't know how else cause it's not going to completely melt and be gone. Ugg---rather have a shot!

Well .. the purpose of a sublingual is to deliver it directly and properly to your system. I let mine dissolve to almost nothing but a little bit of stuff, but it's not in pill form, just gunk. And then I swallow.

And I wondered why someone would say it's "My Birthday" lol
