Pre-run - mint cookie protein, then whole wheat pb crackers about a half hour later (shared with Molly)
Post-run - water, the iced skinny decaf Starbucks
L - protein bar
now - sonic diet green tea

Should put some real food in me later.

I already have my workout done for the day. I ran the 5k this morning with Molly. Time was decent. 36 minutes, my average pace was 11.49 which was above my target pace of 12.15. I suck at pacing, I really do. My first mile was 10.43, my second 12.47 and my 3rd 11.46. I go out too fast and then I need to walk a bit. But if I could keep it at a steady consistent pace I'd do much better. Then I wouldn't get so winded and need to slow down. And I'd probably finish a heck of a lot faster if I could maintain my 11.5 minute pace. Looking at my run log I was hitting 7.5 sometimes, and then 16 sometimes too. I'm going to try to do some pace runs the next couple weeks before my next 5K and see what I can do...

B - protein
L - protein
s - apple?
D - not sure

Already got my workout in for the day, but I plan to do some more later. 1.6 mile run before work today with the dog. It's waaaay too hot in the afternoons to run and by evening I'm so gassy and bloated that I just don't even want to get out there and go after dinner. So I decided to just do mornings.

6 am this morning run. *Possibly* a mixed level yoga class today at 430 if I'm off work in time. For sure my 6p Insane Cardio class.

Looking into CrossFit again. A local place has $100 monthly unlimited for students, teachers, and second family members on your account. So hubby and I can get in for $200/month both of us. I'll use it, maybe he will. Who knows. We pay probably $130ish for the gym for both of us plus my daughter. She can take over her own gym membership if she wants to keep it and we can take that $130 and put it toward the CrossFit. I just see some good results from that, and I like the Insanity DVDs and the Insane Cardio class. Haven't brought it up yet, but I plan on talking to hubby about it.

In my all day long boring meeting today, and we're running about a half hour behind schedule.

B - mint cookie protein on the drive to Irving
L - couple bites of grilled veggies (squash, red pepper, mushrooms), and 85% of my usual chicken, chickpeas, cottage cheese, pepperoncinis, spinach and snap peas.
s - apple or mint cookie
D - no idea!!! Leftovers prolly.

To do, yoga at 545 (I think that's the right time!) and a run with the dog.

L - Dinner Sausage

D - Not sure... maybe just another shake

I made Yankee jambalaya last night for dinner. It was the second time I've made it and it's just awesome. My family loves it. Here's the recipe, I highly recommend it. BTW, I add 3X as many peppers and I add a pound of cut up mushrooms too. I need to bulk it up some for my family as shrimp is not a cheap protein. YUM

Yankee Jambalaya from Low Carb Kitty!
5 net carbs per serving, four servings
Bacon, 3 strips, cut into small pieces (aka lardons!)
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp butter
1/2 of an onion, chopped (I used a spring onion I used from my CSA box)
Garlic, 3 – 4 cloves
Bell pepper (I chose yellow), chopped into small pieces
Chicken broth, one cup
Tomato paste, 2 tbsp
12 shrimp, cut in half (mine were frozen and pre cooked/shelled)
3 sausages, cut into slices
Tony Cachere’s original creole seasoning
Smoked paprika red pepper
1. In low-medium heat pan, render down the lardons to release all that yummy bacon fat
2. Add in the water, butter and onions – sautee/simmer until onions become transparenty
–raise to medium high heat–
3. Dump in garlic, bell pepper, broth, and tomato paste and let meld, few dashes of the creole seasoning & smoked paprika (be light handed if you don’t like it too spicy)
4. Add in the shrimp and sausage – let it all simmer for about ten minutes – spice to taste with more creole seasoning (and more smoked paprika if you want more of a kick)
DO NOT SALT, there is plenty of salt in the creole seasoning.

Do you already have stats for this? It sounds interesting! It's definitely not southern as there's no okra!!!

I wouldn't use the shrimp if I made it here. I don't eat it and my son doesn't either. Have you considered adding chicken to beef up the protein content in addition to the shrimp (cheaper!). Hmmm... I'm thinking zucchini or yellow squash too!

My body is like a freakin sponge with the water weight lately! Up 5 pounds, down 2, up 5 more, down 7... ugh!!! I'm weighing in at 154 - and less than two weeks ago I was mid 140's... frustration. Cuz I'm bloated too. It's food choices and poor decisions. Not preparing meals, drinking protein instead of eating whole foods. Time to eat clean again. I enjoy it, so why can't I stick with it????

I'm going to do a pantry reorganization this weekend. I found some things in there (canned eval milk I had planned to make fudge with Christmases ago - but the family kept eating all the pb chips before I got around to making any!!!) that expired in 2009 and 2010. Pudding powder that expired in 2011. Stuff just gets pushed to the back and overlooked. Any organization tips and tricks?

Fridge isn't bad, but I'm going to do that too. I want to keep ready to eat veggies and fruits available to make it easier to pack meals and grab and go. I read some articles on that.

B - brought hb eggs but was running late to a meeting so I just mixed up a mint cookie once I got here. I'll eat the eggs for a snack later when I was supposed to have the protein.
L - chicken, cottage cheese, chickpeas, pepperoncini, spinach - the usual lol.
s - hb eggs (2 if I have room)
D - no idea. Son has a band camp concert tonight at UTA.

Workout - hit snooze and didn't run this morning like I planned. So I won't be able to get one in probably. Concert tonight - maybe a run after if it's not too late when I get home.

Molly and I already have a 2.15 mile run under my belt this morning. I was actually able to keep an even pace the whole time too, not jump around from 8 to 13 to 10 to 11 etc! Pace is my biggest hurdle, I start out too fast and can't sustain that pace so I just go downhill from there, figuratively lol.

B - 2 hb eggs
L - chicken, chickpeas, cottage cheese, pepperoncinis, and spinach
s - apple w/pb or mint cookie protein
D - no idea...

Okay, change of plans.

110am meeting ran late so now I'm drinking the mint cookie protein for lunch while I work and then clocking out no lunch so I can leave early. I'll have the chickeny stuff later in the day when I was going to have the protein. Or for dinner if hubby doesn't talk me into going out to eat.

B - Coffee shake with gosh that's good! white chocolate powder ... yumm
L - ribs
S - cocoa almonds
D - not sure... I kinda want to treat myself to an in-n-out cheeseburger, protein style

Still trying to keep it low carb.

That's how I started. I couldn't run the 30 seconds without feeling like my lungs were gonna pop out of me and burst! It really helps you ease into it!

Not much...

B - mint cookie protein before grocery shopping
s - skinny decaf cinnamon dolce latte during shopping
L - diet Snapple then mint cookie protein after grocery shopping

I'm about to go find an apple or something to chew on.

I didn't buy protein bars. I started to then put them back. They've been "candy" to me lately so I need to step away. I didn't really buy much of ANYTHING except camp food for Dylan, some pb, and some fresh veggies.

I have been away on vacation, but I am back now... I totally fell off the wagon. I only exercised maybe 4 times in 10 days (2 official and 2 things like walking in an amusement park or a light hike as part of sight seeing...). I ate too much of EVERYTHING. I am really mad at myself - and ready to make a big change tomorrow. Tonight even. I am back and I am ready to work at this. I will weigh in tomorrow, but I'll assume I need to lose at least 20 pounds. Hi Everyone. Missed you!

Okay, Heather... I got on and off the scale a few times this morning. Bottom line is I'm 195.something. I was shocked - I was sure I'd be over 200. So, I'm happy, but I am not settling for this. I had been down to 183 at my lowest, and I have wanted to get below that for forever...so I am ready to do what I need to do.

First goal: 189.anything by July 4th.
Second goal: 183 by July 31st
Third goal: 179 by August 21st (my 46th birthday)
Fourth goal: 174 by...? September 21st?

I'll adjust the goals as I need to. The 189 is a solid goal, however. So is the 179 as a matter of fact. I NEED to do this!

I got up and walked for about 30 minutes this morning. I ran into some walking friends I don't usually see, which was great, but slowed me down and then I ran out of time. However, I did walk, so that's progress.

Today is protein shakes and yogurt when I am really hungry. I also might make some sf jello or pudding. Water is the drink of the day. I had been having coffee on my trip (to move things along...) so I may have one cup of that as I slowly remove it from what I normally drink.

Five pounds by 7/4. I am psyched! (fake it til you make it!)

Okay. 153 today for me. Ack. Ugly ugly ugly. I have some muffin top in my shorts today and that's totally uncomfortable for me. Hating it, but I know it's all food choices lately. Been taking the easy way out and hitting the carbs because they are quicker and easier to get in. I've also been feeding my mind and not my body lately... too much ancillary eating and no consistency.

I've found, through laziness and trial and error, that when I have primarily liquid days it set me up for failure. I've had too MANY days where I had protein for breakfast, lunch and sometimes dinner. Not only does it trigger a "I need real food" binge, but it gets me in the habit of drinking extra liquid calories on days that I do eat real healthy food. I have to limit the days I do that to only days where it's necessary. Today, it was not. I've had two protein drinks so far, and that's just being lazy. Two protein drinks, an apple, a cookie (tossing the rest - the bloat isn't worth it from the SA), 4 or 5 tator tots, and I'm working on a diet green tea from Sonic. Nothing worthwhile, but no reason why it couldn't have been real meals except I was lazy. I'm making a pot of lentil soup for Meatless Monday tomorrow (I do it, the family doesn't). I found a super easy recipe I'm going to try out.

Okay, I'm using your dates, but I'm adjusting the increments. I'm not going in 5 pound increments, but am setting specific goals. For the whole 15# by the last goal date you posted.

First goal: 148 by July 4th.
Second goal: 144 by July 31st
Third goal: 141 by August 21st
Fourth goal: 138 by...? September 21st

Are you in too? You can go by 10# increments or whatever increments you want. I set mine different than 5 pounds. I say we set the goal checkin dates as the ones posted and we decide where we want to be at that time. Same accountability and same time frame - we just use what we know about our own bodies to set it up.

Does anyone else want to jump in?

First goal check in (can we call them that instead of deadline? It sounds more kind lol) is 7/4. That gives us 11 days to get there.

I know all-liquid days can be tricky - but it is good for me to just say no to everything today. There is no wiggle room today... I didn't cave to cheeseburgers off the grill or bacon and eggs for breakfast. I know I could have had both, but I just didn't. I'm feeling strong, so I am going to go with it. I did have some sf lemon pudding and one key lime greek yogurt. So far I've had 2 scoops of mint cookie with 1% milk and a lot of ice and then 1 scoop of the peach nectar powder with water and ice. I'm thinking I'll try to limit it to one more scoop of mint cookie if I need it and maybe one more serving of the pudding. I've had one cup of coffee and a lot of water. I also had one watered down 1/2 and 1/2 tea/lemonade. We can lose 5 pounds in 11 days!!

My stall has finally broken (thank you , baby jesus). I have stopped buying protein bars. I found some that I really, really, really like, and while I wasn't eating any more than usual (1 every other day or so), I was thinking about them 24/7. "Oh Yeah" crunchy, "caramelly", cookie bars and the new Pure Protein soft-baked (not soft all, deliciously crunchy) Double Chocolate Vanilla Crunch - are pure, delicious, evil and I am pretty good at recognizing my enemies

I am 10 months and 3 days out from surgery. I have met my surgeon's goal. 10 more lbs. to get to my own goal. My BMI now says I'm "normal". Now I need to work on firming some stuff up. I'm going to start yoga (the non-headstanding, non-touching kind ), continue my walking, and work with some hand weights.

Best wishes to Heather, Hot Tamale, and everyone else in the challenge!
