I was a timid fish cook, too. Here's what I've learned to do with fish (I like salmon and cod best - this works with both)... First, preheat your oven to about 450. Then, make a packet of aluminum foil. Put the salmon in the packet. Sprinkle liberally with blackening seasoning or garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Add a litttle butter (its already fatty) and some lemon juice/lemon slices. Then, seal the packet. Let it cook about 10 - 12 minutes (I usually have a salmon filet...). Take out of the oven and let it sit for a few minutes (like 5). When you open it up it is nicely cooked and delicious. Cod is yummy, too... With salmon I just peel it/flake it away from the skin on the bottom. Yum!

I don't eat fish, but hubby does. He grills it on a well greased grate. You can also get cedar planks for the grill. Lemon and butter or Cajun seasoning are his fave. Takes only a few minutes.

I ran a 10K on Saturday.... my first one EVER. Finished in 1:11:37.

My goal was to finish upright and under my own power. I did.

I walked some, but I made it!

I intensely dislike anyting seafood related (ok, I absolutely hate everything about it - smell, taste, texture). But my husband loves it. I get him a frozen Gorton's fish that is a but pricey, but there are 2 pieces per box and each is in it's own little oven-ready pouch with seasoning and a sauce.

I need to find a "k" thing where I can walk (I don't run - too many floppy things on me)

Lots of Ks are walker friendly. The most friendly are the non timed or Fun Runs. And compression gear - like underarmour - walmart and target have their own inexpensive versions of it too.

B - mint cookie protein (early day at work)
L - My usual "salad": chicken breast, cottage cheese, pepperoncinis, chickpeas, spinach and some applesauce
s - probably mint cookie protein
D - no idea! Probably a lunch repeat

Workouts - run at the gym followed by my insane cardio class. Maybe if I get out of work early enough I'll do a run, followed by a yoga class, followed by the insane cardio class! Maybe. But def the run and the cardio class.

I'm going to start running around the neighborhood, maybe with the puppy if she takes to it. I need to log more outside runs and less treadmill runs. Treadmill is so much easier though lol. I need to work on speed sprints too, which I do on the treadmill but not outside. I just want to try to get my 5K PR down. That's my new goal and the only way to do that is to just do it.

Couch to 5K. There are apps, podcasts or websites. It starts you out very basic and progresses you over 9 weeks. Of course you can repeat weeks if you need to, or even skip weeks (I wouldn't recommend that!). You run what they tell you 3 days a week - you can choose which days but they recommned not back to back.

Day one I thought I was going to die and I was sucking so much wind!

And running is so individual - people either love it or hate it. There really is no "meh".

I had a good workout last night. I mailed graduation announcements then went to the gym early before my cardio class. I did two miles of sprints on the treadmill, alternating between 7.5 runs and 4.0 "rests". Then I went to my class at 6, but I was the only one that showed up so he couldn't hold it (gym rules). I just went back and did another mile and a half on the treadmill just for the heck of it. I did my 3 miles in just over 30 minutes.

Today I am going to attempt to take the dog for a run - weather permitting. She's not so good at leash walking yet, she likes to pull, but she needs the practice... so... We're using a pinch collar on her. It seems so mean, but she self corrects and doesn't try to pull as much. She could literally knock me over if she wanted to!

Then I have a yoga class at 7pm. So if the dog run doesn't go well I'll add in another "real" one later.

I overslept and got to work about 20 minutes late - oops! All that wind and storm kept me up, especially in light of all the tornados around this area recently.

B - mint cookie protein
L - cafeteria (probably FAIL and I'll end up with protein!)
s - apple w/pb
D - no idea!!!

Well all yoga classes tonight have been cancelled because of the threat of bad weather. So there's that. Hoepfully I can still get my run on.

Took the dog on a run last night. Since she's not used to leash walking (she's a puller!!) we put her in a pinch collar to help her self correct. She did a little better with walking and not pulling that way. Then when I ran she really did great. She ran right beside me the whole way and when I slowed or stopped at cornders she started trying to pull to get me to go faster lol.

I thought I'd take her for a mile since it was her first run, but when we got back to the driveway she was still trying to keep going, so we went around the block another time or two and ended up just shy of 2 miles (1.8 to be exact). She did great. Then she went in and plopped on the floor and didn't move lol.

If I'm off work early enough I'll do it again tonight, but I have musical tickets and have to meet someone at 6pm. If there's not enough time to run, shower and get ready I'll have to skip. And I won't be home early enough to go after.

B - mint cookie protein

147.6 today. That's down several pounds since I started running more regularly. At least 6 pounds down, it's been steadily moving down over the past few days too.

I'm in the same boat with Jesse - extreme stress this week. I am generally doing ok, but when I let my guard down for even one bite I blow it. Today's culprit: Italian bread and garlic bread. Evil, EVIL invention! I have been exercising - usually every other day right now, but this weekend I plan to go two days in a row then on Monday, too...

Run with dog day 3. There were too many distractions out today. Lawn mowing. Bike riding. Scooter zooming. Other dogs. BUT we did a mile and a half in 19 and change. We practiced sitting when I stopped too. She's getting better at that.

What she's NOT getting better at is sitting politely at the door while I put her pinch collar and leash on. Nope. Her excitement cannot be contained and she lunges and jumps and nips all at me.

Some Chex Mix fell in my mouth.

I'm having a down week. My brother left on Wednesday which is good. Now to get in a positive/good mood and out of this funk.

NSV:I am wearing an XL top from a 3X!!!! It sure it great to have things be big on me and not too small. So different than what I'm used to. I haven't been this small since 2008.

I came in to work early so hopefully I can leave early too.

I really need to try to curb the night eating. It's not horrible things, but I don't need it. Last night it was a protein bar and then later some NSA fruit cocktail, followed later by the REST of the fruit cocktail!

B - mint cookie protein
L - depending on when I get to leave
s - apple w/pb
D - I don't know. I have an acro class tonight from 530-8ish so probably something easy. Perhaps my usual lunch fare.

Workout - acro class tonight. And a run with the dog when I get back home if it's still early enough.
