We have been attending a New Year's Eve party with the same group of people since 1999. Many of who brought our little kids to the first turn of the century party now have kids in college. Every year I thought next year, I can wear something great because I will be thinner. Some years I was a bit thinner, some years heavier. Even though it's no fun having your picture taken when you're morbidly obese, I was always in some of the photos because I didn't want my kids to not have any pictures of their mother when I am gone from this earth. This year I am wearing a chic little black dress and stylish boots. I will be happy to pose for photos. And I KNOW I will be even thinner next year, it's not some sort of impossible dream. My good life has gotten even better.

Way to go, Jesse. I now find myself not minding being in pics, whereas before I only would take them of others. I hate that there are so few pics of me with my kids - especially since they were my entire reason for being... Losing the weight makes so many things so much more enjoyable. Congrats on your successes so far!

I am feeling a little melancholy today---sort of like buyer's remorse.

Happy New Year, Everyone!! I'll be taking some quiet time in the next 24 hours to really think about how far I've come and where it is I want to get to in the next year. Losing weight and making big changes naturally leads to some soul searching, at least for me. Trying to force down the "bad stuff" with food just isn't an option anymore.

I wish every one of you the very best in 2013.

I remember feeling that way about 6 weeks out on my birthday. It just seemed too hard that day. The feeling passed, and a few days later my pants started sliding down my butt and I' 've never looked back since.
