some holiday thoughts
I am off this week
and now that hosting Christmas Eve and traveling on Christmas are over I'm trying to come up with some ways to deal with all the food I allowed myself some small indulgences the past 2 days, but now I need to return to my previously scheduled life, because if "indulgences" continue unplanned into today, then they are no longer indulgences, but poor choices on a slippery slope. So...1. Packing up all the goodies and putting them in the meat drawer of the fridge. I feel pretty certain that if I don't see them I'm fine. But if they are all over on trays and in see through tupperware on the shelves in the fridge, I'll be tempted. If putting them out of sight still doesn't work, then I'll ask my son to store them in the mini fridge in his room. Although if I do resort to that, I send my apologies to everyone else living here, because DS is likely to scarf it all before anyone else gets a shot at it. 2. Back to the gym today ~ it's been 3 days since I worked out. I'm looking forward to getting back to my routine. 3. Back to tracking. I took 2 days off. Back at it today. 4. Restore order to the house. When there's order in the house, I feel more orderly about eating too. 5. Get out and do some non-food fun stuff! Dis someone say Les Miserables? 6. Buy some indulgent absolutely on plan food = SHRIMP and STEAK yummmm Just typing this all out makes me feel in control. Thanks for being my sounding board. Good luck to us all as we navigate through the temptations towards a healthy new year! ![]()

I like your ideas, Jesse. I also had some indulgences and one big nosedive into a piece of pie and some cookies. However, today is a new day. I also was drinking coffee (again) but I'm not today. What a headache! And, since I have surgery tomorrow, I cannot have meds for it. I may have to have some coffee; I can't stand this headache!
All you prayerful people, please say one for me. Tomorrow is surgery - one I've heard is not pleasant at all. Thanks and continued happy holidays to everyone! |

hi all, i have still been sleeping a ton recovering from my lower body lift and thigh lift. HT, if it's any consolation, i had always heard the thighs are hardest... but honestly for me, it's not anywhere near the top of the list. for me, the arms were actually harder and even the neck lift was more painful. sure the bandages and drains are a p.i.t.a. but well, i just don't see the thighs as any harder. will you be getting a pain pump? that may be what helped me.

i had two nice meals of christmas dinner type stuff including yams, mashed potato, stuffing and turkey which my mom brought for me. one plate was yesterday and one today. the carby left overs are in the trash and the turkey is in the fridge for later today. i also had some other christmas treats, my parents brought some tiny baggies of white chocolate peppermint covered pretzels, dark chocolate covered cherries/almonds, and christmas cookies. yum, i sure did enjoy my indulgences, and now today back to my regularly scheduled programming lol

Hope all goes well and your recovery is speedy. It's almost 5pm and I have moved the treats out of sight, and that is working. No cravings. The house is basically back in order, my darling children are vacuuming as I write Workout is completed. We are having a leftovers buffet tonight and I bought myself some shrimp so I will have something indulgent but healthy to enjoy. I've logged what I've eaten and what I plan to eat. I feel in control and that is priceless after so many years of being out of control, especially at this time of year. |

I'm steady thinking of my goals for January and my intentions for 2013. I realized I never set any goals for December.

Pretty sure I will not have a pain pump, but I already have my pain meds for when I get back home. I generally have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I fully expect to use pain meds for the first few days/as long as necessary. Talk to you all in a few days.

Ok. So I've been working on my soft foods. Measuring portions. Eating every 2 hours. Fine.
I've been taking my heartburn meds, too. I've got this feeling... it doesn't feel like heartburn, and it doesn't feel like hungry.... but kind of in the middle? Help? |

I felt like someone was throwing rocks in my stomach everytime I ate. At 7 weeks it has calmed down some but still feels "funny". Ya think this is normal?

Maybe healing? I don't know. Sometimes I get this wave like feeling--almost like my stomach is undulating. I don't know how to describe it but it's pretty weird.

My weigh in day is Thursday. I have not weighed since my pre-op appt date(Nov 29) and that weight was 303. Today I weighed 271. I can't believe I have lost 32 pounds from my high. I am SUPER excited.

I don't have another follow up with my surgeon until March, but I do have a physical in January with my PCP. I am looking forward to my weigh in then. I don't have a scale at home. |

Yeah, they told me that since I was doing so well, I didn't need to be seen again unless I was having issues or had questions.
They are really fast about getting people in if need be, so I'm not too worried. |

How often are they taking labs? You should get them at least every 3 months the first year.

So far, I have lost 31 pounds... I don't have a scale, so I weigh at the gym, but I don't plan to weigh except the 3rd of each month.
Quote:
![]() But, so long as my labs get run and my numbers are good, I'm happy with that. I DO know that starting next week, I need to add in my supplements. They have me taking only a chewable multi 3x per day through 1 month out, when we're supposed to add in a TON of stuff. |

I know very surgeon is different, but I have to admit I'm surprised at some of the differences in follow-up procedures and even diets (for example, length of time on liquids, soft foods, etc.) that so many of us have.

I am back on antibiotics since when I saw my surgeon on Friday he was concerned about a couple of things which may indicate infection. He was not totally convinced I have and infection, nor am I, but I figure better safe than sorry.
