opps, out of protein powder, don't know if I can make my protein goal without it!
B: 8 oz. skim milk, (drink first then eat) boiled egg, 1 tbs miracle whip, 4 Keebler Sea Salt and Olive Oil flat bread crackers. (love these, 8 crackers is a serving, I've been eating 4 of these with my egg salad and always stay under 40 carbs) L: Yoplait 100 calorie Greek Yogurt. It was okay in a pinch, but I think I prefer plain, then sweetened with my own sf torani D: roasting a chicken right now, so some chicken and probably a bite or 2 of veggies S: probably 1/2 c of cottage cheese

Hi Everyone - I am going to have to start posting daily menus again. I am not doing too badly, but I can do better. I did meet my August goals - except for the full-sugar thing - but I never "cheated" on full-sugar stuff - I did have regular frozen yogurt a few times, however. I will still call it a success...
September Goals: 1. Exercise at least 5X/wk, walking at least 2 miles each time minimum - get back up to 2.5 - 3 miles or more each time (can also include elliptical machines and/or other exercising...) by the end of the month. 2. Write down what I eat on here daily. 3. Aim to eat more actual meals instead of the much-too-frequent grazing I am presently doing... ![]() 4. Don't put more than 1 cup of a meal on my plate. 5. Drink more water!!! 6. Get down to 181 or less on the scale.

B: 1 1/2 scoops of Nectar Fuzzy Navel
L: 1/4 steamed broccoli w/ 1 oz ham and 1 slice swiss cheese melted over it. Yum! D: will be 1/3 to 1/2 c of the insides of a homemade chicken enchilada and some more broccoli if I have room. S: if needed, 1/2 c cottage cheese with about an 1/8 c. fresh strawberries ( I dice them REALLY small so they spread out in the cottage cheese.) exercise: Wii fit, yoga and aerobics |

The joys of weekend "eating"... on a Monday.
Pure protein bar before yoga. Water. Diet Snapple half n half (times two, they were b1g1 free). More water. 3 pita chips, 5 "artisan" tortilla chips and a spoonful of "mean three bean salad" and 3 strawberry lemon whole wheat mini muffins (I made these and they are good. 26 cals, 0.25g fat, 6 carbs and 2g protein per mini muffin) at my yoga studio's free day of yoga celebration. Mint cookie protein. I should probably find some real food to eat for dinner. Nothing sounds good today. I went to a new studio this morning for an 845 hot Baptiste power flow class. I loved it. LOVED it. My mat had my body imprint in sweat after savasana. Feel awesome now. I wish my studio had classes like that. I'm looking for a new studio because most of the classes there are starting to bore me, and I'm really only like 2 a week now... but I'm also locked into my contract for another 11 months (it just autorenewed at the end of July blah) so I'll still be paying there. Ooh. I wonder if I can get out of my contract with my plastic surgery because I can't work out for a while... thinking...

I bet you can...have the doc write you a note.
Today I have been trying to eat better. Here's the damage: B: bacon and tomato with mayo on half a pita S: peaches with some sf whipped cream (maybe 1/4C peaches with a healthy bunch of the sf whipped cream) L: bratwurst - one, plain... S: more peaches and cream (a little less than the first serving...) D: 2 meatballs with just a few egg noodles and a brown mixed vegetable gravy (not much gravy, maybe 2-3T at most) S: key lime greek yogurt And I had about 3 bottles of water so far oh...and a sf fudgicle ...and about 2T of a breakfast trail mix Darn it. I thought I was doing good, but I see I'm still a mess. I will try to make this all I eat today. Darn it anyhow. ![]() And the worst part? I didn't walk or exercise today. Seems to me that this is the day I really should have. Darn it. ![]() Last edited by Hot Tamale; 09-03-2012 at 03:18 PM.. |

20 oz water before work.
B - Fage, strawberries, splenda, protein cereal, ground flax s - hot decaf green tea, minimum 48 oz water before lunch L - 1/2 pita spread with spicy hummus, filled with chicken breast, spinach, pepperoncini, cottage cheese and hb egg. A plum if needed, but it usually isn't. s - 1 1/2 scoop mint cookie protein made with water D - I have nothing planned. s - not sure if I'll need one, but if so an apple before working out. I'm trying yet another new class that they are adding at the gym starting tonight. It's called PiYo. It's evidently a mix of Pilates and Yoga and is supposed to mix in cardio as well. Should be fun. I'm liking trying out the new classes each month and sticking to them. I'm also going to try out this Monday night acro yoga class and maybe these 515 am classes as well. Trying to mix things up a good bit. |

So I didn't get to have my mint cookie protein yesterday like planned. I had a meeting in another building from 3-5 yesterday and left work straight from there. Anyway, I had forgotten to bring it over with me and left it in my office. I had an apple instead. Played chauffeur with my daughter who has a suspended license for 30 painful (to me!) days, ran home to change and get ready for the gym, and then headed to work out. The PiYo class was different. I'll go back and give it another try. It's cardio pilates yoga. Fast paced. Fast. There's a spin class right before that that I may try next week too. Just because.
Anyway, to Walmart after class to get some apples, oranges, oatmeal for my son and some diet snapple half and half (lemonade/tea). By the time I got home it was already 8:45 and dinner was on the grill (chicken breasts and steamed broccoli, with a pasta side for the family) so I just hit the showers, had my half a chicken breast (3 oz) and a couple florets of broccoli and called myself done. Ended the day at under 900 calories and that's way too low for me, but I could not physically fit anything else in my tummy after that dinner. By that time it was 10pm and I wasn't going to stay up and wait until I was not full anymore just to add calories. So, I called it a day food wise. Today's eats: 24 oz water before breakfast B - Fage, strawberries, splenda, protein cereal, ground flax s - decaf hot tea, splenda. Minimum 48 oz water before lunch. L - 1/2 pita spread with tzatziki, filled with chicken breast, spinach, avocado, cottage cheese, a hard boiled egg and pepperoncinis. A pear if needed. Usually not needed. s - 1 1/2 scoop mint cookie protein made with water D - Again, no idea. Probably leftovers? s - maybe an apple Today's dos: Zumba at the gym tonight. Hopefully I do not have to play chauffeur today. |

Change of plans:
Got to the gym and Zumba had been cancelled. So I did 8 miles on the bike and then did some core work on the machine whose name I do not know. The one where you hang down and then raise and lower your legs... My hubby has friends over to watch the game. There's too much testosterone and yelling for my taste. I'll probably retreat to the bedroom to watch frivolous reality TV and girl shows soon. Dinner - hubby made burgers. Not sure if I'll have one. Really not interested in eating anything right now. Might have another protein drink and call it a day. |

I just holed myself up in my room with True Blood Season 1 episode 5, 6, & 7 on DVD. I've wanted to watch it, and just finished reading most if not all of the books so I started Netflixing them. I watched 5 & 6 before heading to bed last night. |

Ended the day at 1300 calories and change. I added a nsa Klondike bar after dinner. Dinner was half a burger patty, steamed cauliflower and some tzatziki. I also had 3 small pepperoncinis with it. My workout was 8 miles on the bike and some core work.
Today's eats: 24 oz water before breakfast. B - 6 oz Fage, 2 oz frozen strawberries, Splenda, 0.5 oz Special K protein plus cereal, 2 tbsp ground flax s - 16 oz hot decaf green tea, minimum 48 oz water before lunch L - 1/2 Joseph's Bakery pita spread with 28g tzatziki, filled with 1 oz chicken breast, 3 oz cottage cheese, 15 grams spinach, 40 grams chickpeas, 1 green onion, 0.25 avocado s - 1 1/2 scoop mint cookie made with water D - No idea. Leftovers probably. Today's dos: Tonight is usually a yoga night, but I'm not sure how it will all pan out today. My daughter has soccer practice at 6:30, my son has "meet the teacher" between 6:30 and 8, and my yoga class is at 7. I don't think it's physically possible to do the two kids' things and still make it to yoga. I might have to pull the husband in and make him do part of it too. Probably meet the teacher... I can drop my daughter off at practice and then head to yoga. He can take the boy to meet teachers and then pick her up after practice. We'll see how that works out. |

Well, I'm at a complete loss here, literally. I don't know whether to think my scale is wacked out or what...
Yesterday morning I weighed 144. I did not get a workout in, and I ate normally (just under 1400 calories, just over 100 grams protein). Last night I stepped on the scale and weighed 140. I stepped on and off several times. Still 140. This morning I was 139. Did I really have a 5 pound whoosh? I weighed myself alone, holding the puppy, holding different weight things, alone, holding something else, alone, etc... a million times. Each time I weighed alone it was still 139. That's the top end of my comfort zone so this would be great if it were really true, but with a 5 pound difference from yesterday and today I'm leary, ya know! I know I can go UP 5 pounds overnight but it's been a long long time since I've seen a down whoosh like this. Conflicted. Although I HAVE been right on with my eating and workouts lately. And I poo'd yesterday but I *seriously* don't believe it was 5 pounds worth! Today's eats: 24 oz water before work. B - Fage, frozen strawberries, splenda, protein cereal, ground flax s - hot decaf green tea, minimum 48 oz water before lunch L - 1/2 pita spread with tzatziki, stuffed with chicken breast, spinach, chickpeas, avocado, cottage cheese. NSA vanilla pudding if needed. s - 1 1/2 scoop mint cookie made with water D - No plan. Every morning I type this I think how I such at this and need to plan. But never do! Today's dos: Normally today would be an off day for workouts, but a friend is teaching her first yoga class tonight at my studio so I'm going to try to make that. Especially since I missed yoga last night because of meet the teacher night (which took an hour and a half!). Tomorrow I want to try a yoga double header again. I say that, but when it comes to getting out of bed... not so keen on it. Other than that I just plan to work on laundry and decluttering the closet and bathroom. |

This Monday is 13 weeks away from my lower body lift. I really, really, want to see more improvement to my strength and quite a bit of fat loss before then.... I dunno how I am gonna do it though. I mean it's not like I can increase my exercise without hurting myself or something lol
... and my nutrition... well, I am doing the best I can. Whenever I try to "cut back" I end up with cravings. |

Here's what I had today: 1/2 Joseph's Bakery pita (30 cals) 28g tzatziki (28 cals) 15g raw spinach (3 cals) 2 oz canned chunk chicken breast (46 cals) 2 oz cottage cheese (45 cals) 35g chickpeas (30 cals) 1/4 avocado (72 cals) 1 green onion (2 cals) All of that (and it's a good bit of food!) is 256 calories. 24g protein, 24 NET carbs, and 13g fat (mainly the avocado). Lately I've been trying to think of how to eat lower calorie without lower quantity, and it seems to be working. I want to be filled without filling up on calories. Perhaps something like that would work for you? I eat more water filled veggies, carbs from fruit, etc instead of processed white carbs and starchy fruits/veggies. Just a thought. |

Hi Heather, I actually get full really fast/easily and if I eat dense food I am fine... I more have a hormonal problem I think (cravings)... I have always had a sweet tooth so I use allot of low carb / zero carb sweeteners but I don't know what they do to me as far as cravings. It may sound crazy but I don't even crave stuff that is not "allowed" for a typical WLS patient... I crave protein shakes, bars, atkins daybreak squares, peanut butter, almonds, cashews... things like that... when I have a power crunch bar, I could eat 4 more throughout the day after that! Maybe even more! haha

I agree with you two - I also can really make a mess for myself with "legal" foods. Popsicles, nuts, protein bars...anything really. It takes constant reflection and self-monitoring for me to not fall off the wagon. Measuring portions is one thing I need to do more to make sure that doesn't happen. I also have issues with the sugar free whipped cream I buy because you can really spray a lot of it on something and don't think about the calories involved until it is too late. ...at least I don't.
I have been pretty good with eating. I am trying to help my daughter limit her carbs, so we are both watching closely. I was 184.1 today and I am hopeful after tomorrow morning's workout I will be 183.something...maybe even 182.something, which is my goal for this week coming up, one way or another. As I posted on the other thread, I am also happy I finally walked my entire "old walking routine" this morning - about 3 miles - and I jogged a little bit of it. I came home totally soaked in sweat and feeling like a million bucks. Who knew? I sure didn't until about 1.5 years ago that exercising could make you feel that good. |

Really helps to know we are not in this alone. I can't have the stuff in my house cause I eat it all. I am still a work in progress, probably always will be. Did a 1.53 mile walk a little while ago. Even though the incision on my right side is really still painful.
