Heather: Awesome pictures!!

HT: I can't take zinc on an empty stomach before surgery. It scares me now.

LOL I did a "Heather" too.

I did get 2 soccer games done, dinner with friends, 2 kids rooms and a bathroom cleaned, and went grocery shopping.

I am so bright! I was moving furniture alone and a piece of dd wooden trundle bed came lose and did a guillotine action on both of my feet from 2-3 foot high. I guess that piece of wood weighs about 50 pounds. The impact split both of my feet open and they are both swollen (left foot is much worse).

We had a carnival gold fish pass away today. I think pets should not be given away as prizes. When my 6 yr old won it we went down and bough an aquarium/pump/water conditioner/food/etc for it. She really did not like putting him in the flower bed.

On a funny note...she decided the base boards needed scrubbing with a brush! She took a tiny brush and some lysol and cleaned the base boards for about 2 hours. She cracks me up.

I am going to take a shower in a few. I hope we all have a spectacular week next week!

I never heard about zinc helping...does it help?

PS: I did what I call "a Heather" today and threw away a lot of the offending foods so I wouldn't be tempted to eat them later (in my case, 2 half-eaten boxes of cereal and some crackers I just couldn't stop eating and never should have bought...). I felt as strong as Heather (which is pretty strong in my book)! I also like feeling this in control of things again.
Thank you guys. I really like the acro yoga. I think it is awesome and it has given me so much strength and COURAGE!

I'll need to read about zinc. I hadn't heard that...

The "Heather" made me laugh. WTG on the loss and the way to regain control!

Yep Harold Patterson. They got creamed 0-8 but my gosh it was entertaining.

I can't sleep. No idea why because I have been up since 6am. Well I did sleep from about 11:30p-12:30a and DH woke me up when he came to bed.

I did a little more cleaning. I am trying to wind down. I need to be up at 5a and the kids are up a 6a!

Heather- Your pics look great. You are in such good shape. Were you ito exercising before you lost weight or is it something you started doing as the weight came off? That acro yoga looks awesome. I hope the more weight I lose I can do more exercise not just water aerobics and walking. They are gonna start water zumba in October. So maybe that will pick up the pace for me.

I weighed in this morning at 222. I sure am liking the scale.

Hope everyone has a great Monday.

Wow, thanks. I guess although this office is an office of distinction and has done over 1000 surgeries, they have never done the sleeve for Fed bc. That gives me hope that it'll get approved. I hope so.
Mary-hope all the labs check out and that you are healing from the shingles. I asked my doc about a shot based on your experience and he suggests I wait 5 years to get the anti-shingles shot since it is $185 cash and insurance won't cover it until I am over a certain age. However, since I had chicken pox TWICE as a child, I am worried that I could get a really bad case of shingles if it ever pops up and I know several people under age 50 who have had shingles. How are other things going in our life?
Unfortunately, I had shingles in my 40s. It hasn't reoccured but I guess it can at anytime.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend...it is gorgeous here... I did some gardening (well I transplanted some rosemary and tended to a tomato plant that survived the summer heat and watered a few plants) and got a litle sun which was nice. Happy First Day of Fall!!

Heather--great pics.
HT--good job on getting back on plan and throwing away the junk.
Melodye--wow, you're just full of energy these days. Great job on the losses.

I knew when I was baking the choc chip banana cake that I should not have made it. I caved and had a piece. Next week I'm back to making something I don't like for dessert. Grrrrr Mad at myself but one piece is better than half a cake(something I have done in the past) or the whole thing. Sigh

That's really not far from me. By not far I mean like 20 minutes or so. We play some of our games out there too... we should compare schedules and see if we cross paths!

The acro yoga is the most awesome thing I've ever done. It's athletic, but looks so graceful, and it's not hard when you have all the core strength and balance to get you into the poses!

I exercised pre-op too. I walked the 3 Day 60 mile walk before surgery so I was no stranger to exercise. I could put in an hour or two on the treadmill or bike without an issue... but it was just going through the motions until the past year and a half or so. Now it;s something I enjoy and actually cannot imagine not doing. And now the intensity and activity are amped up times ten!!!

Sure you can do more! I was doing Aqua aerobics and walking only until I was aroun 250, then I started carbaret dance, belly dance, etc. I struggled at first with getting up and down from the floor and doing funny tricks with a chair (cabaret) and holding my arms up and holding a half squat for an hour at a time (belly dance) but I pushed through and I do believe the challenges helped me tremendously in my WL journey.

I started tracking diligently again. Calories, carbs, protein, everything. I just hope I can hold on to the discipline because if I continue to not lose I am going to show my food/exercise log to my surgeon (Dr. Aceves) and my regular doctor and ask them what's could be going on.

But, I still haven't taken my measurements. Maybe tonight! Someone remind me?? LOL

I actually thought of you when I posted that picture! There is also something called aerial yoga, which sounds very much like your Aerial Silks. No one in this area does that though... I love acro. It is so much about trust and balance. You have to trust the base will keep you from face planting when you flip into a shoulderstand or let go of their hands or feet!

I think it is funny that Heather mentioned the Acro Yoga is giving her courage… my lightbulb moment of the weekend is I need to “just go for it!”… some time ago my Aerial Silks instructor said something like “as you build up strength and confidence…” and I thought confidence? ya right, I am just not strong enough. But, over the weeks of pole and aerial classes, I realized she is 100% right. Sometimes you look at a certain move/trick and you automatically think “no way I can do that”… of course then you are going to hold back a little out of fear that you will fall/do it wrong and embarrass yourself etc. Well, Saturday morning in Pole 1 class we did a spin that was scary looking, I thought I could not do it. I took a few breaths, said to myself "you don’t know that until you try". Stood in starting position for a moment, frozen… screamed in my mind “Just GO FOR IT!” and I DID IT!!!! I actually went “Woooo!” out loud and laughed as I landed the move. Not only was I able to do the move, it was FUN! I think it is my new favorite. Weeee! lol

Yes, I have seen/heard of Aerial Yoga. They do not offer it at the studio I go to right now. I am going to put it in the suggestion box lol... but, their rigs are set really high (VERY tall ceilings) and they would have to get a really tall ladder and change out the silks for hammocks each time they switch from silks to yoga and back... so I doubt it. Maybe they will do once a month workshops though!!

I've posted my yoga "face plant" injury pics right? One of my fears was falling on my face. Well, once you've done that you realize it's not that scary after all and you just do it!

Hi everyone, I have been so busy with work, home and kids activities. I had a really slow week last week weight loss wise. The last couple of days the scale has been moving again. I am nine pounds away from the halfway mark. I have lost 51 pounds since my surgery in July. I feel great and miss stopping here everyday.

Heather, those pics are amazing!

WTG, Chrissy! I'm at 31 lbs. lost since August 20. The scale has not moved in almost a week (how can that be, I'm still at 1/4 cup meals of soft foods??), but I can tell by how my clothes fit that things are changing - a new bra what was tight a week ago fits great today, and my pants are baggier. I see the surgeon tomorrow, so I'll ask him what might be going on.

Ladies, Believe it or not, I think stalls are still common at certain points of your journey. I was stuck for about a month at about 9 months out... (I am currently kinda stalled, but mostly this one is due to me and I know it...) And, the fact that your body is changing (clothes fitting/getting baggy...) is just a great sign. Don't give up or make major changes unless a doctor tells you to (and even then, I know at least a few of us would say to proceed with extreme caution - just because a doctor says it doesn't mean it is stellar advice...). Part of this process is learning to "read" and listen to what your body is telling you. Maybe you did that years ago or maybe, like me, you never heard it until after WLS. Whatever your situation, I think one of the keys to being successful is continual monitoring of what's going on inside you. How do you feel, are you pufffy, how are your skin, nails, and hair looking, do you feel "stopped up," are you feeling tight or limber, etc... And, the biggies, are you really eating because you're hungry, or is something else going on & what are you doing for exercise today and/or tomorrow? Get in touch with yourself and it is like an extra push of power you will have in this battle.

Mary said her instructor said, "...as you build up your strength and confidence..." That really hit home with me. Losing weight has helped me feel more self-confident than I think I have EVER felt in my entire life. Not only do I look better, but I know I'm strong and physically fit, too. I don't walk around constantly worried about how I look and wondering what everyone is thinking or saying about me. I acted like I didn't care, but my weight was something I thought about ALL. THE. TIME. Today, walking down the hall at work with my hair done up, makeup on, dressed nicely, and also knowing I was prepared for the day it occurred to me just how far I had come. I am still always going to have to fight the food demon but now I know I CAN fight it - and generally win. That confidence bubbles out into every part of my life now. It feels awesome. Success breeds success, and we all have the ability to be successful!!

Allison, I know with VSG a lot of people get the three week stall. You might be in one of those. 31 pounds is fantastic

Well said, Hot Tamale!

WTG Chrissy!

Allison sometimes the inches lost is better and shows that the scale doesn't hold all the power to show progress-losing inches is awesome! KUTGW!

I would LOVE to see more pics from everyone else! Mary, I haven't hooped in YEARS! I wonder if I would even remember how!

I think we always look at pics of ourselves and see them as unflattering, but other people do not. I always see my flaws in pictures instead of the full picture. You look great and like you are having great fun!

I've been a member of this community FB page where you post things for sale and you can buy things from other people. On a whim today I posted some of my size 3/4 and 4 jeans and immediately someone msg'd me wanting to try on all I had. I have a TON of jeans! I posted them cheap for $10-$15 each since they are GOOD high quality brands (7, Citizens of Humanity, Vigoss, BKE). So I'm meeting her after I meet up for the Nook. Maybe I'll make enough off the jeans to buy this coffee and end table set I've been eyeing!

I have a ton of 1,2, and 5's to post too. A few 6 and 8's too that I put away a little over a year ago.

I'm about to post a TON of sweaters and purses and shoes too. I'm such a clothes hound. I have tooooooooo much.

Heather, those pics are amazing!
That's awesome.

Very smart.

Hi all. I feel like I'm just in a holding pattern waiting on insurace company approval. I might call again tomorrow. I'm still doing the IF but I'm starting to get bored and it is getting harder. Guess all new things fade and get old.
