I am at 196.4 today. Imentioned before that I like to have mini goals for specific dates, while recognizing I have control only over my choices not how my body responds to them. That said I aim to do everythin within my control/ability to lose an average of 2lb/wk between now and Feb 26th when I will be skydiving (!) and be at my initial personal goal weight of 185. Then the next milestone will be my surgiversary, March 17th... St. Patricks Day!

I will say a prayer for you.
I know that your surgery will be a success and you'll have a quick recovery.

Dealing with things that you haven't in the past (and covered up with food) will be difficult at first but once you do you'll feel a lot better. The beginning is always the bump since its new, unknown, and at times requires that you acknowledge/face reality.

Failing shouldn't even be part of your vocabulary.
You have control and will succeed because you're ready and determined.
Stay positive.

Have you started to have food dreams yet?
I used to dream of food after surgery. My doctor did as well. He used to dream of flying hamburgers.

Great goals, Mary.
I'll be your cheerleader.

Pretty cool that your surgiversary is on St. Patty's Day. Maybe you can celebrate with a beer and be festive at the same time. Hee hee.

No food dreams yet! LOL, Just obsessed w/food network I think it feels like we are still a "part" of the yummy food, but just not consuming all the carbs and calories lol. I am hoping it will be better now that I am back to work and don't have so much time on my hands...

Beth - Best of luck & prayers going out to you!!!

Hi Everyone! Nothing amazing to report, so just saying hi! Going to see my surgeon on Thursday & then my regular doctor the following Thursday. I've had bloodwork done and they've ordered a bunch of tests. Can't wait to see what the results have to say.

Talk to y'all soon!

I went back to do a quick search on the older WLS threads. LOL. I reintroduced coffee on my 5th month post-op and did not experience any issues with acid. I only had coffee once a day though and not every day. Some days twice, but rarely. I had iced coffee....doubleshot light.....regular coffee w/cream....coffee powder or espresso in my shakes.

For January 18, 2011:
M1: turkey sandwich
M2: string cheese + a few small pieces of beef jerky (picked out the thinnest ones)
M3: doubleshot light
M4: 1/4 chicken panini (was super thin) + salad w/caesar dressing

If I get hungry I'll have 1/2 oz of turkey.
I need to start having a shake a day again. I noticed that without the shake it becomes difficult for me to reach my protein requirement.

Mary - Are you still taking your acid pills or have you stopped?
I haven't been taking them for a while now but I am thinking of restarting. I feel a little acid from time to time. Nothing major but enough.

Well my labs are not the greatest. My thyroid panel does not seem to be the greatest and my cholesterol is rising.

You're probably not optimized yet. Is your doctor changing the doses on your thyroid meds to try and find the right mix for you?

I've heard that losing weight quickly can increase cholesterol temporarily. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you see a trend.

Talking about cholesterol...
I decreased my fat intake after surgery and my cholesterol went from the 120's to close to 200. I did not mind since having it too low increases your chances of cancer. However, my HDL doesn't seem to go up. This has been a frustration for years. The PCOS makes it so difficult.

My cholesterol went up too, I think it's cause of the low fat diet

Emerald studies have shown that with rapid weight loss your cholesterol numbers can go up a bit and from the thread you posted in the Thyroid Forum your meds are not optimized-it looks like you need an increase.

196.2 today... I have a slight cold but otherwise I feel good. Wearing a sz 12w dress today and it's not the slightest bit snug work is busy but I feel I am accomplishing what I need to and doing a good job so it's not too stressful

So far today I've had:

* 1 salami roll (1 thin slice of salami with 1 oz of pepperjack thinly sliced and mustard)

* 1 shake (8 oz almond milk, 8 oz. coffee, 1.5 scoop of choc/van protein powder over ice)

I am craving all sorts of junk food but I am really fighting it! I feel fat and look bloated. That was motivation enough.

Emerald,
Let us know how your appt goes. I am sure with a little tweaking you'll be optimized soon.

Mary,
Did I miss a post somewhere?
Size 12!! Hello, sista! Can you say big NSV!! REGULAR SIZES. That is so great!! Way to go.
Party time!

Monkee I posted a pic of me in a sz 12W dress awhile back. This is a different dress but same brand. 12W is more like straight 14 in pants I am still 14w / straight 16 i can wear a smaller size in dresses and tops and sometimes skirts vs pants and some skirts.
