I am 43 and weighed over 300pounds for 20+ years, the skin just doesnt respond to that much weight loss.

Here was pic of my arm before surgery

This was 4 hours after surgery, it really wasnt painful I took 1 vicodin, my arms were sort of numb and felt funny!

THis was my arm 3 days post op after he removed the bandages

3 day scar, this was scary, man I was questioning if I did the right thing

This was 6 weeks post op

8 weeks in my wedding gown getting married in Oct

9 weeks post op

10 weeks

The scars are fading nad do I care, heck no!!! It was the best money I ever spent on me! $6000 insurance doesnt pay, and I told my fiancee I dont care if I sleep in a car, I am getting fixed when I am done losing this weight, I worked too hard not to.
Is it for everyone? It is up to the person, I am blessed I found a great surgeon, the surgery made me want to work out even harder to make my arms look good, I am working out like mad trying to get my abs and back and core in the best shape possible for the impending surgeries! Not sure yet how I will pay, but I know I am not going to look like sharpei forever and these scars are a constant reminder of where I never want to be again!!!!
130 pounds lost, about 40 more to go, 20 for my doctors goal but I think I can get lower than that!!!! I will be happy to help any of you that have any questions, just email me!!! Over 3" removed on each arm!!!

Nice pictures! That last dress looks really good on you!

Maryposa- What did you have done hun? Yes there is lots of swelling in the arms, mine are still swollen near my elbows at 11 weeks, it gets better, I took compression knee highs cut them and slept in them, it helps the swelling!!!!! The garments they sell are too tight to get over the swelling at first, prop you arms, I got a back support pillow slept propped up with 2 pillows under each arms it sucks sleeping like that, but prop I really had no pain though, just like numbness, if you need me email me I will send you my number

BEJWELME: You look beautiful!

MARYPOSA: Glad you made it through surgery. Just keep telling yourself you are HEALING every moment and things will be better soon.

I am two weeks out tomorrow from my arm pit incision arm lift/laser lipo, thigh lift with incision only around upper thigh/laser lipo, and breast lift/implants. The THIGHS have definitely been the main focus of being uncomfortable. Today was the first morning I have been able to get tights over my feet by myself after my shower. I have been having to have friends come over to help me pull them over feet.

I will continue to wear the compression garments for quite a while to try to help skin where lipo was done to shrink into shape. I feel way better with tight garments on as it keeps things from jiggling and feeling like I may pop open.

I go see doctor tomorrow for my two week check in with him.

THIGHS are not for the weak!! It is not that it is painful, but VERY UNCOMFORTABLE and INCONVENIENT!!

I am sleeping on my back with my head propped up a little and legs stretched out in front of me. Last night my lower back was killing me for some reason. I think it is just from stressing over not being able to bend over all the way so as not to pull the incisions under butt cheeks, and just all movements being somewhat limited.

I have been back in the office pretty much every day since the Friday after my Monday surgery. I prefer the office as I have things to do to make time pass and I can get up and down from desk and walk around. I kinda sit slid down in my desk chair for comfort.

Like I said before. I can't complain because I did ALL this to myself... I let myself become morbidly obese and I chose to have the surgeries!

Good luck everyone!

MARYPOSA- Wow hun you had the works, it is surprising the arms are hurting I really had no pain but like CLMOORE said I really preferred the compression and having them wrapped, even after he unwrapped them I said I dont like the way I feel can I wrap them up and I did, I loved my homemade arm sleeves they really helped when I slept, it is a long journey of recovery, it is almost 3 months my arms are still not completely back to normal the scars still red, it takes a long time to heal!

Take vitamins, eat protein, drink water, it all helps the healing!!!!

CLMOORE- can I ask where are your thigh incisons? Did you have a breast lift and implants? I am nervous about the whole nipple and aerola removal but I guess after 40 you really need the lift, he said I do, my aunt is skinny and got implants but not a lift she is 55 and they are drooping, I dont want that.

I cant wait to see your before and after pics, I cant wait to get to my goal weight and have these surgeries done and be able to buy clothing that doesnt have to go over all this belly skin!!! And porn star boobs!!!! I want them pointing to the heavens, LOL

My thigh incisions are in the front around the groin area and all the way back under my butt cheeks. There are also two vertical incisions on each side of my inner thighs and outer labia (girly parts). He made these incisions and pulled up the excess skin and removed it and sewed me back together. He also did some laser liposuction around my inner knees.

I was a little concerned about the breast lift and the nipples being moved up, etc., but it has really been nothing so far. The first day or two, my muscle between my breasts at the breast bone area felt like I had broken the breast bone, but it was just the muscle being sore where he placed the silicone implants behind the muscle. I still have the surgical tape around my nips and wonder if it may come off when I see doctor tomorrow. I can see the dark purple ink under the tape where he marked me up before surgery. I am sure my boobs and arms have not been too bad because the compression garment tends to keep them secure. Plus, the THIGH DISCOMFORT has taken my mind off the boobs/arms. Even the nurses in his office told me most women have very little pain with the lift and breast implants/arm lift. I do have a really talented surgeon also!

I can't believe I have done all these surgeries in the last year and I think I am done! It was a lot to go through financially and physically, but I hope it is worth it and I'm ready to get on with my life and have it over with.

I am so determined to take care of my new body now after stuffing food in it for 50 years!!

I am so glad you are doing so well, I know it is a big thing the money, being off work, etc, and the mental toll!!!!! Maybe you stated how much weight you lost, I will have to go back and see. OMG I have that skin and leftover flub on my inner knees, I work out a lot and it wont move! I heard the thighs are really painful, I am debating about them but they look so gross I think they will have to be done eventually.

Keep us posted after the doctor tomorrow, I will be curious to see how the nipple area looks, that is awesome that you have no pain there I keep thinking that has to be bad! I met 2 ladies at my post op- they were 2 and 3 weeks out post TT and BL, they were really happy the one lost 25 pounds in 2 weeks from the surgery!!!

You look great in your pic!!!!

I originally weighed 261 at my highest and weigh about 140 now at 5'7". My avatar was before the face work. I'll see if I can get some before afters to share. I have the naked ones from the plastic surgeon, but can't share those here for sure. It is sickening to look at the before with all the skin. I am amazed at the difference now.

Yes it amazing, like I look at those pics of my arms and I cant believe it is gone which is why I want all this other gone but I still have to lose more weight, and it seems like this 20-30 pounds is getting to be a bugger!!

You look great in your pic and that is the before? You are going to be smoking hot!!! I am sure you are relived to have this all behind you now!!! Now you can get on with the next 50 years being fabulous, I said I am so mad I wasted my 20,30 and early 40's being obese! But the rest are going to count!!!

Yes, we can look forward to healthier and more attractive years ahead. I was a chubby kid, but was up and down in weight all my life. I was voted into beauty pageants in high school. I became my heaviest in my 30s and went up and down and then stayed up until I had the gastric bypass almost three years ago.

And, yes, I did not do any of the cosmetic surgeries until I had been at goal for over a year. I am glad I waited until all the weight was gone before the cosmetic issues were dealth with. I know some folks have issues with their skin causing problems and that is not always an option for all.

I know I was really surprised about my arms, but with the wedding I just couldn't wait, and he said it wouldn't make much difference, I am working them out like mad, so any weight loss will be replaced with muscle, but I know I want to be at goal and wait and see where I end up maintaining and give the skin a chance to settle where it will plus I need to save up enough money for everything anyway, LOL

I did plus size modeling in HS and after college, its funny I was a 14 then and over 200 pounds, now with gravity and all what a difference, I am still 15 pounds heavier and can wear smaller sizes up top due to losing my boobs but tummy problems from c-section, etc., I am in some 14's and 16. Man a body changes as we age and have kids!!!

I have not been under 200 since I was probably 14 years old and I cant get there fast enough!!!

You ladies rock! Thanks for sharing your stories with us. I am looking ahead but I know I will need a boob lift, tummy tuck, and the infamous thigh job for sure... Arms are iffy, but getting floppier and more deflated every day. I better start saving and/or find me a sugar daddy! Congrats to all of you - heal, heal, HEAL!!

Congrats to everyone who is going through all of their surgeries.. I know it is expensive and can be painful but you are worth it!!! I am trying to be patient because I have to wait till November to have my TT redone.. I think I have another hernia because I am having some issues.. It is over my bellybutton so when I get home from Houston, I need to see the doctor.. I hope I don't have one however because if I don't I may ask my surgeon to do my liposuction at the same time as my TT is fixed... So cross your fingers I don't and this issue is just TT related.. I go back and forth on a breast lift and implant surgery.. I would love a thigh lift but I am so afraid of the pain of that..

My new breast lift and implants have been nothing at all to deal with. I want to make everyone understand that the thigh lift I just had was not really painful, but VERY uncomfortable and not fun to deal with daily issues. I am two weeks and three days out and things are getting better!

My thighs already look so much better!

Cheri- good luck hun, I know you have been through the ringer with the surgery, it will get fixed!!

Clmoore- I am glad you are feeling better and it was worth it? Are you really bruised? Was it just the pain of like peeing and stuff, the stuff we take for granted that you cant do? I can handle pain, but I hate being needy, but darn these saggy baggy elephant thighs I will deal with it, LOL

Maryposa: I think everyone is different so don't worry about comparing. I think it also depends on the surgeon and how they do their procedures. Some have very different techniques. I have been very fortunate in all my surgeries that I have not experienced any real pain. I have been back in my office 4 or 5 days after each surgery and only taken pain meds for two days after surgery.

We are all different and I am VERY thankful for my results. I live alone and it would not have been fun if things had been harder for me.

Keep up the good work!

Maryposa- yes and we all have different pain tolerances, what seems to be hurting you? Are you propping? The arm pits are the worst, even now they still pull a bit when I sleep
If there is something I can help you with let me know!! I was off a week and then worked from home a week, it is a long recovery, I couldn't wash my own hair until week 2!!! It will get easier, I just played 18 holes of golf today, and I was great! Someone said ohhh what happened to your arms, I said my mother sold me for medical experiments, LOL Someday you will be looking back and enjoying your skinny arms and the pain will be forgotten!!!! I told them I lost all this weight and stuff, and they were like OMG you should be on Dr. OZ, lol

All this is great stuff! Except, you are too smart to be on Dr. Oz!

It will be three weeks on Monday since my arm and thigh lift and new boobies were installed and lifted! The first two weeks were definitely the least fun only because of the thighs.

WORST PART OF THIGHS WERE:

Having to try to pee with split crotch compression garment on. The garment was so tight, there was no way I was going to try to pull it down and then even think I could get it pulled back up. Plus, the compression garments do make you feel more comfortable as far as keeping everything secure so you don't feel like you are going to POP open!

There was no great pain, but it was very uncomfortable trying to sit some how with the incisions under your butt cheeks and along your groiin and girly parts. Those areas just pull when you try to sit. I sat scooted way down towards front of chair and leaning back... very bad posture, but it was the only way to get all the pressure off those areas.

Took about ten days before I could pull a pair of spanx-type footless tights over my feet by myself. I have to use one of those "reacher/grabber" tools to still grab the tights a little so I can reach them to start pulling them up.

As of today, I can tell a reall difference in the sheets of thigh skin that were hanging before this surgery. Remember, I didn't have the long vertical incision down my thighs or arms. My doctor pulled the skin up and cut it off. The thighs look better than my arms. He did some laser lipo in arms and around my knees and the arms still look like they have empty skin a little where he removed the last fat that was in there. He said they should shrink up some.

COMPRESSION GARMENTS:

I'm wearing spanx-type tights that go below my knees for my thigh lift.

I'm wearing a crop-top kind of garment that hooks up the front and has 3/4 length sleeves for my boobs and arms. I have three of them so I can keep some washed.

I'm a huge believer that the longer we can wear these garments on any spot on our body where we had work, it helps shape the skin and those areas. I wore my midriff compression garment lots longer than required on my tummy tuck/butt lift last year and those areas look awesome!

MY THOUGHTS ON COSMETIC SURGERY FOR US:

I know this is not for everyone and I know I am very fortunate to have been able to pay for all this myself. I feel like it is a step in my recovery from abusing my body with food for 50 years.

My doctor told me yesterday that he wished all his patients were as dedicated as me to doing whatever it takes to heal and have the best results from the surgeries. He said if all of them were like me, he would have no problems.

The last few evenings after work, I have been going to the mall and walking the entire place. I don't walk fast at all, but I am moving!!

This is WORK, just like our weight loss surgeries! They are tools and we have to USE THEM!!

I love all you guys and am happy you understand what I feel!

clmoore - you, and all of you undergoing surgeries are amazing! This is another part of the "healing" I think many people reading are doing after years of doing the wrong things as far as our bodies are concerned. I have no grand ideas about the plastic surgery I am planning. I know it is just as serious and also as important (at least to me) as losing the weight...

I want to thank each of you for telling us your stories and what is happening/has happened to you.

Clmoore- thank you for sharing all that, I am nervous about the thighs but I think it will be worth it.

Dont fret the arms they do look a little lax at first mine are all tightened up now, and if you go back to exercise, I had to wait 8 weeks for arm exercises they really tighten, now I am so afraid my muscles are going to blow them out, LOL But they were lax and I was worried he didnt take enough at first. Today is 12 weeks, I will take pics tonight to show the difference from like the first 3 weeks.

I cant wait to be fixed, especially now exercising like a nut, and seeing all this muscle with saggy baggy skin, ugggh!! I look at the financial burden as my penance for the abuse I did to myself.

Sharing is so helpful to those considering or going through these surgeries it is a scary time and you feel like am I the only person feeling this!

Bejewelme: THANK YOU SO MUCH for saying my arms will tighten up some. I have had little thoughts of wondering if I wasted my time and money on the arm surgery as they still look saggy even though the doctor said they will tighten up. You are also right, that when I can, I need to start exercising for more toning everywhere!

When I get brave, I will figure out a way to show you all my before photos from my whole body taken by the plastic surgeon before any of my surgeries... and then the after.
