Harriet- Congrats to you that is awesome!! Plastic surgery is a great but not for everyone, if you are not comfortable with it, then no need for it!!! Enjoy your new body and embrace the wonderful positive changes you have made!

All of you look gr8 and I wish that insurance would pay for the reconstruction, but it is the way it is. Glad to know names of good surgeons in case I change my mind!
Say what? You're talking like 54 is old! I'm just 55 and I'm already making plans for surgery next December.

You look fantastic by the way!

Hi Guys, I went to my 1 week plastic surgeon visit yesterday. She was really pleased with how I'm healing and doesn't need to see me back for 3 weeks. My swelling is going down some and I guess generally I'm just getting used to the new (Almost) normal. Right now my thigh lift reminds me a lot of having a tight pair of pants on. It is okay, but not totally comfortable yet. Going to the bathroom has a few more steps to it (I use baby wipes to make sure everything is clean and then use toilet paper twice to make sure everthing is dry. Then, maybe every third time, I apply a little diaper rash cream to the one or two irritated areas - the doc said not only is this okay, but the zinc in the cream will promote healing...). It is still uncomfortable - and I suspect it will be for a few more weeks. Was it worth it? Yep.

Hi Harriet, and welcome! I am feeling pretty good, but I still have a long way to go. I am keeping my eyes on the prize, as I call it, because I know I will feel a lot better about 2 months from now - and it will be a little better each day between now and then.

I have had 4 procedures done since last December... breast lift and arms done on 12/21/11, panniculectomy/tummy tuck on 7/9/12, and my thigh lift on 12/27/12. I have been through the ringer with plastic surgeries and other procedures but I would still do it all again. I am 45 - so not a spring chicken, either! I am also not a big fan of surgery, but yes, I have gotten used to it over the past few years. As far as drains, I only had one drain ever cause me any issues (it kept draining, but then again, isn't that what you want) and the others I had would only hurt for literally half a second as they were taken out. Surgery isn't for everyone and it doesn't transform you into perfection. That said, I look a lot better than when I started and I am happy I did what I did. Now to just win the lotto to pay it all off! If you have any more questions please let me know. I am a relatively open book!

Just an update... I have an infection and have/had a hematoma (not sure if that's how you spell it...). It decided to pop a leak right as I got to the doc's office to get looked at for the pain I was having (which was because of the infection...). Doc said infections are common in this area no matter how clean you try to be... I am more worried about the hematoma... I have a bandage over it and I am hoping it closes up in a day or two. I am a worrier by nature, so this bugs me. That, and the fact that I am on blood thinners normally again makes me worry even more. Still, my experience tells me that this, too, shall pass - even though it may take a few weeks... I'd still do it all again, in case you were wondering!

Thanks you two... doing slightly better today - then again, that is how it happens - very small improvements every day, right? I'm a very impatient person so it is difficult, but not impossible...

Great attitude!
So sorry you are going through this, glad it's a bit better today...
My ps wanted to do a lower body lift on me, but wouldn't do the front and back at the same time. The tummy was a very hard recovery (skin necrosis...and my posture is still bent. lol) I didn't want to go through the butt lift, but so grateful I did the tt/mr. It was sooo worth it, I'd do it again.

I've been better, but thanks for asking... :P Still quite uncomfortable, still a small amount of (for lack of a better term) "discharge" from the small area still not totally healed (less than an inch), and still taking antibiotics for the infection which is slowly getting better. I was having some tightness in my chest, headaches, etc... but after finally seeking medical attention it was determined it was from anxiety with a side of mild dehydration. I have a lot of stress in my life right now and it is showing physically.

I am back to work (barely) and trying to get back into the swing of things. I do not know how people get several things done at once - yes, I did it once, but each time now with just one I am almost overwhelmed. Kudos to all the strong women who get several things done at once!

I's still do it all again, however.

No promises, cause I'm sooooooo bad at it, but maybe I can get some pics done this weekend. If I do I will let you all know how to access them.

monday will be 7 weeks since my surgery and I am finally going back to the office. I had 4 and a half weeks vacation/holiday pay, two days sick time, and two weeks working from home. I am nervous about going back, but I do think I am ready. I hope I am right???

HT, I am almost 7 weeks out, and my thigh incisions are bruised all the way down, about 1.5" away from incision line, that did not happen on any other incision line I have ever had in all of my many surgeries lol .... do you have that kind of bruising too? I think it is odd.

Bruised as in black and blue? Mine aren't bruised but my incisions are all swollen and somewhat hard in a majority of places. I'm not sure what things will look like 4 weeks from now, however. It does sound kind of odd. Maybe, like I said, I will take some pictures and you can compare to what you have...

Got a question for those of you who've gone through the surgery. How did you decide it was the right time to have it done? Did you wait until you got down to your desired weight or did you wait until you just couldn't stand it anymore? What I don't want is to have it done too soon and the skin be flabby when I've lost the remaining.

I've lost 80 pounds and still have about 80 to go & my arms are driving me crazy! I'll need to have a full body lift with legs and new boobs but my arms are so flabby now if I flap them fast enough I think I could get lift off.

Do they make Spanx for arms? LOL

First, congrats on your weight loss! Second, lol @ taking off! They do make compression garments for arms - I am sure some of the ladies on here could give you some leads...

I had my breast lift and arms surgery when I was around 195 pounds. Before saying yes to doing my surgery, my doc was interested in whether or not I was close to where I wanted to be weight-wise and also whether or not (I believe) she thought the changes I had personally made with eating and exercise were permenant.

I'm not a doctor, but from personal experience, I would say you shouldn't have plastic surgery until you're relatively close to your goal weight for the best results...as frustrating as that is. Trust me, you want to get the best results you can so you don't have to undergo any "adjustments" later! I first went for consultations when I was around 215 I think...close enough to see my personal goal line so I could see what I needed to do before surgery.

Hope all this info helps; PM me if you have more specific questions.

I had my arms done too early but was getting married so wanted them done prior to that. I know it drives you nuts, but it is better to wait til you are close to goal, cause you go through all that, and then have more skin! Also my weight tends to go up and down a lot. One thing though once the tummy is hacked the weight doesnt come back there, it goes other places, so another reason to be close to goal!

I totally agree with waiting as long as you can to get the best results. You sure don't want to have to go through the procedures and cost for a second time. Hang in there it is worth it!

Hi there! Have a question for y'all.

Is it possible to just have that roll around my waist removed, without doing a whole bunch of other things? My stomach flap is yuck, but what's really problematic is that "rolled down girdle" around my waist. It prevents me from wearing any tops without Spanx, and it's so annoying! I can cover my stomach, but that roll is hard to conceal.

Just curious...

Hi Vilya - I know you can have a tummy tuck without the "re-braiding" I think it is called to "fix" your abdominal muscles. I have a friend who had it done and she is pleased with it. Best thing to do is talk to doctors about what they can and can't and will or won't do for you. I know there are also "mini tummy tucks" - maybe that could be for you. Good luck!

HT update... 23 days post-op for my thigh lift and also breast lift "adjustment..."
I am not sure what happened yesterday, but around 6PM it occurred to me that I was walking almost like a normal person again! I was additionally shocked, because I was bummed because my doctor had decided to not to give me more antibiotics, telling me that in addition to killing the bad bacteria, it could also kill too much of the good bacteria... I was pretty mad about that. Today I can tell you that, while still sore and uncomfortable, I do feel the best I have in several weeks. I am far from out of the woods, but I am encouraged. Finally! On the breast lift adjustment...I haven't had any issues with this area. My breasts now have a lot more projection and fullness. Only problem is one is bigger/fuller than the other one. It is not noticeable when I am dressed, but it looks weird when I'm not. The doc says if they don't become more symetrical once the stitches disolve she can add some fat to the smaller one. O,o I am not sure I'm interested in any more procedures! I'll let you know how things progress...
