Plastic Surgery after WLS

I was wondering if anyone had any plastic surgery after losing a lot of weight. I had my stomach stapled 10 years ago (next week) I never became really thin but I was happy at my size 12 now at 20lbs over my lowest (which I am trying very hard to lose with little results) But I am and alwas have been interested in getting a lower body lift and tummy tuck. I kept putting it off until I lost more weight which obviously never happened. I was just wondering if anyone has had Plastic Surgery and how was the outcome, the pain, the scar etc etc. because the hanging skin on my legs kills me every day...

I was scheduled for a lower body lift two months ago after losing 111 pounds in the last 14 months. Alas, my liver enzymes are slightly elevated, so I could not have the surgery yet. I have a friend who had lower body lift and then later breast job. She lost 120 pounds 2 years ago. Her surgeries went great and she looks so tiny now. She also said she NEVER had any pain! If my liver gets straightened out, I'm having the lower body lift!

The cost must be crazy...but a body lift sounds great!

I was quoted $11,500 by one doctor and $14,000 by another. That was for body lift... tummy tuck and butt lift.

I wish! I'd love to get rid of my tummy apron and inner thigh skin...but there's no way we could swing the high price tag. I think it's great when people can get it though!

That actually doesn't seem like too much money when you think about it, it's less than a new car and I bet the life time of satisfaction would be a whole lot better! Still, the thought of it scares the begezzers out of me. Over the summer I went to a lazer lipo place for a consult and was given a price of 8000 for stomach and three other areas. They told me the inner thigh was more than that procedure could handle as it was more excess skin that fat. That was way too much so I used the money to go back to school.
Interestingly, I went back for travel and tourism and just did a paper on Medical Tourism.A full body lift in Costa Rica goes for about 3000 dollars US that includes everything including the recuperation period in the first class spa attached to the hospital. What made me interested in that particular topic was a show I saw on 20/20 a few years ago.I also have family in Brazil and they have also had plastic surgery there with good results. It's hard to wrap my brain around the concept though., but apparently a lot of the cutting edge(no pun intended)stuff is coming out of Brazil.
Yeah, it's frustrating to lose all of this weight and have stuff dangeling no matter what we do. At 140 my inner thighs look like two bags of potatoes, I still hate wearing a bathing, especially because I look so good in clothes.
Well that's my input, looking forward to reading some more member input on this topic as it's something I'm sure we all have thought about.

I have gotten quotes from 10,000 - $23,000 but in NY everything is more expensive ya know. So I am down to go to Brazil If anyone wants to join....lol It is scary. Although I am not thin or skinny I kind of like my size and I dont mind the weight I am at so much but my inner thighs are a scary mess! I am truly thinking of financing this in the new year I just want to lose like 15 lbs.

I'm in NJ and just paid appr. $20,000 for a lower body lift. Just so you are aware, a LBL does not tackle the inner thigh area. LBL covers stomach, mons, outer thighs and butt.

Just Had....

Just had a lower body lift with butt auto-augmentation and inner thigh lift on October 6th. Cost....about $23,000. I lost 225 lbs. before plastic surgery and am now down over 250!!!! From 440 to 183. Got to admit that this surgery is tough....it had to be done due to skin issues, but damn....it's tough.

So, really... what was the toughest part? How much recovery time? How are you doing now? Inquiring minds need to know!

I heard the inner thigh lift is the worst of those. Is that true?

The Results are Great...

But I'm having skin issues....oozing wounds, tunneling wounds that need to be packed 2x/day. It's a major surgery with lots of skin healing. It's painful - the wounds are waaay ugly to look at. Skin issues are very common and are just part of the recovery.

Thighs havent been bad.

Please make sure you are getting lots of protein to help with your healing!

Basically, I'm not positive... but I've always thought it was when they plumped up your bottom with the fatty tissue that they took from elsewhere. Am I close? I'm genetically already self-auto-augmentated.

i had a panniculectomy (belly apron removal) and the surgery itself was not that bad, nor was the healing process.....previously I had a hernia repair and some skin removed from my upper abs that caused me to stay in the hospital for a month and the recovery was well over 3 months!

Yes I hear the wounds get infected a lot because the inner thighs are very sensitive skin area. I know but I cant look at myself. It depresses me sooooo much.

I had an abdominoplasty with muscle repair after losing my excess weight. The recovery time was about 4 mos for me to finally be able to say "I'm glad I did this." It was THE most difficult surgery for me to recover from...

I desperately need (want?) plastics. I at least want a tummy tuck and a breast lift. If I had my way, I'd also include some lipo in the breast lift around the outer chest area - ya know where I mean? Or whatever they do to pull that area in.

Another option I've been contemplating is a full body lift. All will really depend on cost. That's what I'm looking most forward to when I get back from Africa!

I think I'll probably get plastic surgery once I reach my goal weight (and after we have another child in the next year or two!). I think I've damaged my poor stomach enough that it won't be able to completely recover from the stretching I've given it! My husband fully supports that plan...he says we'll just finance it like a car someday!
