Hello, I'm new....
....well sort of! My name is Katie, I have 19mo twin girls. I live in a little house in Upstate NY with my girls and their wonderful Daddy, Terry. I have been going through the process of getting a gastric bypass since January '09 when I had my initial consultation. Thankfully, my insurance company is paying for it in full, due to BMI only. I do not have diabeties, HBP, or anything else. But I don't EVER want them. I'm 27 and I feel like it's time to seize the day! I'm almost done with all my "pre-reqs" and all I have left is my sleep study (Monday night) and my Psych consult which is 9/25. I'm almost done with my 10% weight loss as I have 11lbs left, finally out of the 250's!!!!
Anyway, I've been browsing since July and figured I'd better indroduce myself, so..... ![]()

Hi, Katie! sounds like you have quite a jump start on your weight loss surgery journey! It takes awhile to get all of the prereqs out of the way. Most insurance companies require so many "jump through the hoops" actions... congratulations, and welcome to the boards. We look forward to hearing more from you as you travel the weight loss roads..

Welcome!
It is a lot of work to get ready for the surgery but it will be worth it. I had 2 young babies at home when I had mine. I had my surgery in Feb, but in Jan of the same year my two youngest turned 1 and 2, so it was hard for me not to pick them up. But I didn't, they would crawl up onto the couch with me and they knew mommy's tummy was hurt so they did not touch it! I was 325lbs and I could not get up off the ground if I got down there to play with them. I wanted to be able to play with my children, and not only has that happened but I have even been able to ride a horse with my boys. I have 4 sons, and the 3 youngest have no memory of me big, I show them pictures and they are shocked. For me it has been worth all of the hard work. Oh and I did have all the comorbidities, I was told that I would probably not live another 5 years, and it has been 6 1/2 years! Good luck!! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions that you want answered! ![]()

Isn't it nice to get out of the 250s? You are so fortunate to not have any diabetes or other comorbidities to deal with. I hope you get radiantly healthy! |
