Amazing WOW moments,,

How about sharing some of our wow moments??

I love being able to sit in a booth instead of needing to sit in the middle of a resturant on a chair for all the world to see my lack of control,, and watching people watch what I eat,,

Being able to be hugged by my grandchildren and have them comment that I dont feel the same,,

To be able to step off a curb without having assistance cause I might fall down,,

Having a man smile at me and talk to me,,

Having the head of the hospital stop me in the hall and tell me Im doing a terrific job,,

I love people to not recognize me until I speak and then they do a double take,, and I have a long way to go yet,,

what are some of your wow moments?

Bonnie

Going back to college at age 50. I may be the oldest living junior but at least this time out I"ll be able to sit in the chairs!Today is the first day of classes, wish me luck
It's funny, this week end I participated in all of the new student festivities on campus(including the bounce house and tug of war). It felt great knowing they were staring at me because I'm old,not because I'm fat.

When my bath towel reached all the way around me for the first time!

I even blogged about it.

Glad you all understand how these seemingly little things can be a big deal!

Seatbelts in airplanes. As in, not having to use an extender.

Roller coasters. As in, being able to ride them.

Agree on the towel thing!

Not having to shop at Layne Bryant (like the stuff, just limiting and expensive!)

Getting hit on. A lot. Like, a lot a lot.

Okay, when I was about 10 months out and in a size 14, I went to visit my cousins. My 15 year old cousin came into the kitchen, she hadn't seen me since before I had surgery, size 26. She literally burst into tears. I mean just sobbing and saying OMG you are so beautiful! You're so tiny! And she gave me a huge hug and of course could reach around lol. This meant SO much coming from her size 2 self LOL

I have trouble with people saying I look so much better than I did, I think that is rude
and also how am I doing it,they know I had surgery I have never hidden that,, I just tell them by walking,, I think that is such a big part of this weight loss, I still dont like it, but I feel bad if I dont,, cause that might help me lose a few ounces,, so keep on walking, and thinking of the man on biggest loser last year who walked 26 miles, figure if he can walk that much I can walk an extra block,,

I don't mind people saying I "look" so much better than I did - I personally think I do. My face has always been beautiful IMO lol, but now you can SEE it as opposed to being hidden by "fluff."

What I DO have trouble with, along the same line, is when people act like I"m a different person. In some ways we are of course, when it comes to self esteem and such usually. But man, the number of people who did a 180 in the way they treated me, acting like I'm totally different - that pissed me off.

It's funny...now that I've lost ALL of my regain weight (FINALLY!), I see it happening again.

I think people are just trying to be nice and I dont mind when they tell me Im looking good, but I dont like the "better than before" phrase,, reminds me of a guy who would date me if I lost 40#,,didnt care for that and that was the end of me even wanting to date him,,

I like seeing my collar bones. I also like feeling my hip bones.

And I love it when people send me email on Facebook and say "I'm looking for.... are you her?" And, I am her! LOL... I just look so different after losing all the weight!

I also love going to the store, being asked for my ID, and they think the picture is of someone else!!

I remember when I felt one of my ribs for the first time.
I panicked because I didn't know what it was.
It's nice to get reacquainted with our healing bodies :-)

My firs WOW moment was when I leaned down to tie my shoes and didn't have to hold my breath and try to break a record on how fast one can tie a shoe, just so I could breath again.

Other WOW moments:
  • sitting indian style again
  • crossing my legs
  • walking 2 miles and wanting to do more because I wasn't winded or tired
  • wearing a dress in a size 20
  • buying shirts that arn't a XXXL
  • putting on my size 18 pants and zipping them up with no problem
  • RUNNING
  • and the biggest.. my son and daughter telling me that when they hug me now, their arms wrap all around me insead of half way. That's an AWESOME feeling.
  • feeling an arm muscle
  • discovering collar bones!!!
  • looking in the mirror and only seeing ONE chin.

The part I really enjoy is LOVING to have my picture taken. I dodged the camera for years, and I think that I've had my picture taken more THIS year than all the years combined! Love it!
