Hey guys.... I'm keeping this short.... my mom is having surgery for suspected breast cancer today... (I FOUND OUT THE SERIOUSNESS OF IT YESTERDAY) as she hid it from my sis and I, as to not ruin our vegas trip and the holidays, This is her second bout, and it is in the same breast.. Please Say a special prayer for her today....

Thanks, guys. LisaB, I'm feeling pretty happy now, so I'm glad it shows. At the very least I no longer avoid the camera at all costs like I used to.
Tracy, I'll be thinking about you and your mom today. What a 'mom' thing to do, to minimize her situation so as not to ruin your vacation. I'm feeling really good today. I've worked out for the last two days--I downloaded a Couch to 5K podcast for my iPod and I'm using it on my elliptical trainer. The particular one I'm using does interval training (starts out with running for 60 seconds, then walking briskly for 90, gradually increasing intensity over several weeks), and I really like the timed segments--it makes the time go by so much faster. Last night I got out my balance ball and did an upper body workout with that and a resistance band. I was up a pound this morning, but I know that was because my muscles are protesting being worked out so much and are holding on to some water. Have a great day, everyone (especially Tracy--we'll be hoping for good news)!

Good morning everyone!
Tracy - I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom. I'll be thinking about her today. ![]() I finally broke out of the 230s this morning. I'm 229 lbs.! Feels so good. I still can't believe it's only been 7 weeks since my surgery. I actually enjoy shopping for clothes again. I wish my upper and lower body were the same size though. On top I wear a 16 and on bottom I'm a 22. Can you say "pear-shaped"? LOLMy friend Mary is losing weight in a weird way. One of her breasts is now smaller than the other. One of her legs is smaller. It's like she's not losing her weight in proportion. Hopefully it'll all be even by the end. LOL I worked out on the tready for 26 minutes yesterday. Burned 100 calories and walked a mile. I'm heading down to the basement to workout now while it's still cool outside. We don't have an air conditioner...it's so mild here in the summer.

Tracy~ I am praying for your mom and your family.
Jenny~ KUTGW with the exercises!! Mysti~ WOOO HOOO!!! 41lbs is awesome! Lisa~ WTG!! I know you're feeling wonderful. Mel~ I'm praying for a speedy recovery for you. I am down another pound today FINALLY. I know I'm holding on to water like crazy (my feet and hands look huge), but I'm keeping on plan and praying for a big loss soon. I spoke with my surgeons office yesterday. They said the lady that does the scheduling for surgeries is backed up and doing her best to catch up. She schedules for 4 surgeons and has about 50 pts that she's working on at the moment. SO, I'm still waiting Today is "pool day" with my daughter and 3 grandbabies. DH and I have a ball with them. We pack a lunch and make a big day of it. My little Devin is 3 and last week while she was splashing around with DH she says "Papaw, you need to shave your arm pits!" We are still laughing about that. Everyone have a blessed day!

Good morning everyone!
I'm so annoyed at having to buy school supplies again this year. So far, I've spent $140.00 and I still have about 30 more things to buy. And that doesn't include school clothes for my boys. When did "public school" get so expensive? My 7th grader's school supply list was 3 pages long...typed! I haven't even gotten my daughter's list yet. She's a freshman this year. Does anyone else go broke this time of year? ![]() I'm feeling very overwhelmed with my house today. Dishes...laundry...ironing...vacuuming...mopping.. .clutter everywhere... Calgon, take me away! LOL |

Mom came through her surgery.. a lot of pain, and a noticeably smaller breast.
We won't know for sure what IT is until next week, but we think they took as much of the infected part as they could...... My step father asked me to purchase an easy fit sporty type of bra for her comfort and then help to dress her, during which the difference was apparent. The infected breast was extremely baggy in the cup. This was hard for my mom to realize but necessary..... and she said it hurt really badly. She is resting at home until Monday. She goes back to the doctor for the results on Tuesday, meanwhile my sis and I are researching a local Breast Cancer specialist for her to get a second opinion from. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR PRAYERS and GOOD THOUGHTS! and Mysti.. yes I AM very broke this time of year!!!!!! CONGRATS ON THE 's!!!!!!

Help
I have my lapband surgery tomorrow, and I was supposed to be on a 2 week strict liquid: sugar free koolaid, popsicles, diet yogurt, clear broth, slim fast low-carb and atkins shakes, and lots of water. For the most part, I have been strict on the diet, but once or twice, I pinched an ox-tail - last week, sausage on a pizza - last night, and I ate 3 tortila chips - last week. Have I eaten too much to cause my liver not to shrink for the laproscopic surgery?

Hi Shelly, I'm the one who was banded in Mexico. I've heard good things about Dr. Kuri, so I'm betting you'll have a great experience. If you have any questions (about banding in general or banding in Mexico in particular), please feel free to ask.
Hope everyone's doing well. |

Protein Coffee 1 scoop chocolate protein powder 8 oz. coffee splash of heavy cream or 1/2 and 1/2 splash of davinci's s/f raspberry syrup What a delicious way to get in some protein! ![]() I don't drink coffee everyday, but I worked out for 45 minutes yesterday on the tready and then cleaned/rearranged/decluttered my bedroom for 4 hours straight! I was asleep before 9pm. LOL So, today...I need it. ![]() Last edited by Kingschild; 07-11-2008 at 08:44 AM.. |

TGIF!!!!!!
Welcome Welcome! Shelly: each doc is different, but yes most do require a liquid pre op diet. With my doc it depended on what your BMI was as to how long you were on it... ( I was on it 1 week, by him, but I actually started early because) I was on the farewell to food tour and I gained from 261 up to 272 before I got a hold of myself....... I kept mine low carb............ 2 lc protein shakes and ONE very low carb meal per day.. and I did drop 19 lbs. I hit 178 this morning.. whoooohoooo...... I am closing in on that big 100 lbs lost goal Woot Woot! Have a great afternoon. |
