Amanda's accountability - 30 day challenge

Hi,

This is new for me, but I'm giving it a shot to learn how to hold myself accountable and be successful in my weight loss goal. I'm a wife, mother of 2 and professional geologist. Due to high stress and carb addiction I currently have a goal of 50 pounds to lose. I know low carb/paleo is when I'm the most successful and feel the best.

That being said, I'm using this forum to track my progress for a minimum of 30 days and will post starting weight and measurements tomorrow. I would love words of encouragement but wish to have negativity kept to yourself.

Thanks and wish me luck.

First day almost complete. Did well despite being a bit unprepared at lunchtime. After dinner seems to be the hardest part of the day for me. Maybe its just the carb cravings. Not hungry but can't get food out of my head.

209.2. Good feelings for day 2, but didn't do so well at dinnertime. Have a weakness for beer with dinner after a stressful day at work. So not so happy news on top of it kind of did me in. Cravings are always bad on day 2 for me. Back on the saddle tomorrow though.

209.4. Managed temptations galore today. Bypassed the office bagels and restrained for a shrimp salad at my favorite fish taco joint at lunch. Feeling proud about the small accomplishments on Day 3. Now to get though the weekend.

208.4. Made cauliflower crust pizza for dinner for the first time. Was pleasantly surprised as I'm skeptical of substitution for major ingredients. Would make it agains and glad I did as the boys in the house like pizza about once a week.

208/208 over the weekend. Too much alcohol I suspect caused the stall. Carb count was low otherwise. Beautiful weekend so hard to resist old habits of sitting on the deck with a glass of wine. Need to find a replacement. On a positive note, I didn't indulge as much as usual.

206.2. Pleasant surprise weightless overnight. Doctor put me on steroids to get rid of a persistent cough so might have something to do with it. Had beans with lunch today and sweet potato fries with dinner, will find out in the morning if that is too many carbs in one day. Still keeping on.

208.4. Not sure what happened if it was the sweet potato fries or the meds doc put me on. But still on track today.

Week 1: total of 3.8 lbs lost. Not bad for not feeling deprived.

super frustrated today. Scale increased again 208.8. I'm pretty sure its the steroids the doctor put me on but only 2 more days and hopefully that has run its course. I did weekly measurements today to see if that shed any positive light. Down 1" in the hips and .5" in the waist so that is progress.

Returning to log after a few set backs. Done with the dose of steroids the doc put me on and seeing the scale go back down. The meds made me irritable, bloated and unprepared to handle glad food choices. But back at it now.
