~ this is for good ~

has to be for the rest of my life. I have grandkids I want to be around and healthy to enjoy I want my cholesterol numbers to go down...they were perfect when I was on Atkins before. I've said this so many times before, I just have to be sticking with it this time.

Starting with induction, and will see how long I stay on it, then transitioning to a bit higher level of carbs as I go along.

sounds like a plan!

had hamburger for breakfast today and steak last night for dinner.

I have got a long road ahead of me, it's 100 pounds to go approx. I'm not home near a scale, so I'm going for pant sizes for now

So, have you tried low-carb before?

Pant size comparison is A-ok for me! Even looking at that scale makes me anxious! ROFL

I've done low-carb many times before but i've never gone 2-3 weeks without cheating or falling off the wagon. Last year I went low carb between July-September and lost 15 lbs (with constant cheats). Gained it all back obviously! So I'm just trying to stay clean and consistent

so have I. Actually, the 1st time I did it, and didn't even KNOW it was low-carb was in 1968 I ate boiled eggs for 2 weeks and lost 20 pounds. But, didn't continue. I have done low-carb many times in the past years, always falling away

My biggest problem is family....and gatherings with family AND friends. I dread having to say "I can't eat that" although I say it differently....usually telling them how I'm eating. My poor husband though...its embarassing to keep telling him what I'm doing. "oh, you're doing THAT again"

Right there with you!

I have just started induction too! It's hard, isn't it, when you are somewhere and have to 'explain' why you're not eating something? But you sound very determined. I am glad you said that your cholesterol levels were good on Atkins last time. I worry a bit about mine, I am taking meds for cholesterol and triglycerides right now, so I'm going to be interested to see how my levels do on this plan! I'm 53, and no grandkids but want to be around when they do arrive...
Stay strong!

Sorry! I was out of town! Yes, this is my first time on Atkins. I don't have a check up scheduled for another six months so I hope that it comes out okay. I've been on meds for about ten years now, so it would be great if I could somehow get them down. I got through induction all right, though, and now it's easier to 'hide' the fact that I'm doing Atkins cause there's more I can eat! How are you finding it so far?
