Bon Voyage you pesky little (or should I say big) pounds.

So here I am at it AGAIN. I came here one day after praying for me to find a way that I can make these pesky pounds go away. I found myself at this sight.

From puberty on, I have been on a diet. That is more than 30 years. Yuck!!! I am tired of this. I am ready for an end to my Adventures in yo-yo dieting story.

I have done ATKINS before. Worked for a little bit. I thought I would try it again. But, wait, I see something on the left hand side. A WOE I have never heard of before. I thought I knew them all. I click on JUDD.

Well, I was a little excited after reading pages, upon pages, upon pages. I decided I would start JUDD that day, which by the way was only 3 days ago.

So here I am. This will be my journal of my journey. My final chapter in my story of yo-yo dieting. I am ready to start on a new book

Well, first let me say. I have been working pretty hard, exercising, take out most of my bad carbs. I rarely eat processed foods. I have been doing this pretty good for the last 2 years at least 70% of the time (at least for the food part). But, I have been at the same weight for ever (2 years). I would yo-yo from 240-246. At the beginning of the week, I was 246. The day I started JUDD, I weighed 242. So I will make that my beginning weight.

So here we go...........................................

Weigh in: 242

I am not sure my calorie intake. I ate normal. I can't remember if I tried to sneak something in, because it was my up day. I will say, that day, I was pretty much reading about JUDD. I think this day, I ate mostly steak, peanut butter, fajita veggies cooked in PAM. I didn't over stuff. If I had to guess, I would say I had about 1200-1500 calories.

Exercise: Went to beach and played in water with my kids.

Day two: Down Day

Weigh in: 241

I was still reading up on this WOE. I know that my first down day was over the calorie limit.

Calorie intake: I ate 900 calories. My last meal was at 3:30 after swimming. I was starving. I did eat a spoon of peanut butter around 5:00.

Exercise: I swam 2 hours non-stop. I think this is why I went up to 900 calories.

Weigh in 239.

I am sold. I have been working months/years to get below 240. In the past, when I did the best at losing, this is what I did:
*I was eating about 800 calories per day for a few days
* eat healthy normal a day
* add a cheat a few times a week.

So, it seems that JUDD is something like what worked for me before. I just went away from doing that, because of the: "You can't eat that few calories. You will mess up your metabolism". Well, my metabolism is shot anyways, so it is time to work at something that works for me.


What I liked about this plan, is that it works with life. It works if I get a craving.

Breakfast: Steak and fajita veggies with guacamole.

Lunch: Hershey Kisses (15-20)

Snack: I made my kids a mocha milkshake for the first time, and lets just say yummy. I only drank less than a half a glass (about a cup), but it took 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream to make that.

Dinner: I ate one meatball sub. I really felt like I could have had another one, but I stayed at one. It was my price to pay for eating the junk food I did today. It was worth it

Snack: I knew this was my up day, so I had about 5 more Hershey Kisses.

Today, I figured my calorie allowance on up days and down days.

*Up days: 2700 calories
*Down days: 500 calories


Even with the junk, I think because of my breakfast choice, and sticking with one meatball sub, I stayed within my allowance. I will have to get better at this food monitoring though.

Day 4: (today) down day

Weight: 240 (up 1 pound from yesterday, but yesterday was a yummy up day)

Total weight loss: - 2 pounds

I expect my weight to fluctuate. It doesn't bother me. In the past, I always had to go up, before a big woosh. Not letting the scales drive me.

I felt great this morning. I decided not to eat breakfast today, because it is a down day, and I am taking my daughter to the pool to swim to play with a friend after lunch. I will be down there for a couple of hours, and I will use that time to swim laps. I want to eat before I go (not right before), so I will have the energy to swim. I will probably eat an early dinner, because I will be starving after swimming that long. But, my goal is to stay as close to my allowance as I can (500 calories).

Thank you! My kids make it easy. Sometimes my daughter wants me to play with her, so I work exercise into what ever she wants me to play. Sometimes, it is just doing laps side to side in the shallow end while I talk (play) with her. Sometimes it is being a mermaid and having mermaid races with her on my back. I just try to keep moving for those two hours.

Day 5: Up day

So, Hold The Phone!!!!!

I am one happy camper. I have lost down to 238.5. That is a total loss of 3 1/2 pounds. Getting below a number (240) that I haven't been able to even after going to the gym, walking for hours, swimming for hours, etc., etc. etc., is so awesome for me. I feel so motivated right now, because I now know I am not "broken".

I reworked my numbers:
UD: 2400
DD: 500

I feel wonderful. I have been getting headaches lately, but since doing this, no headaches.

Thank you for the welcome. I will say, I really was beginning to think that I would never lose weight. I thought the only way for me to loose was to eat around 600-700 calories. I have over 100 pounds to loose, so that would not be sustainable. Plus once I started eating normal again the weight would just come back. I feel JUDD is sustainable and I could do this WOE for the rest of my life. I think this is the game changer for me.

Up a pound, but I am ecstatic. Only one pound after a salty wonderful up day yesterday. I even went back for seconds for chicken and dumplings. And to top that off; dinner was after 8:00 pm. Hoping today will be a good down day.

Well, I was planning on eating something little for an earlier dinner, but time got away from me, so I think I will call my calories at 350 for my DD.

Today was a day where I had a major project for my class. Usually, I would have told myself I needed food to stay focused on my project. Well, as you can see, I didn't really need the food. In the past, I would have called today a free for all, but so glad I didn't. I am really loving this WOE. Woo hoo!!!!!!

DAY 7: up day

Weigh: 138 pounds

So freaking happy. For two years losing and gaining the same 8 pounds. LOW, LOW calories, exercise, drinking lots of water, giving up diet coke, giving up a lot of the processed foods.......did not allow me to get below 240.

Fast forward to last week. Not drinking much water, drinking tons of diet coke, eating what ever I want (within) my calorie allowance (HErshey Kisses, yummy dinners, mocha milkshake) on my up days.........I break through my stall and loose a total of 4 pounds.

TOTAL LOSS: -4 pounds

So eventually, I will drink more water, drink less diet coke, eat less bad foods on my up days, eat healthier choices on my up day, but for now, I am going to enjoy the ride. It is kinda of nice to not have to eat a separate meal than my kids on up days.

I think I will enjoy my up day.
