I thought of you today. I was at a sandwich shop that has great meat and toppings but the bread tastes like nothing. So I ordered my sandwich in a lettuce wrap and it was delicious. Now I love really good artisan bread but white bread just doesn't do it for me.

That's is so true, Carol. You managed it beautifully.

You guys crack me up!

Oh, and Steph, Olive Garden breadsticks have NOTHIN' on these babies!

I had a great weekend. Accomplished some stuff, had some nice relaxing time, and a nap yesterday afternoon. Ahhhhhh!

That nap came with a price though. I fell asleep easily last night well before 11:00pm, but slept fitfully all night. And I had some weird and quite scary dreams, which is unusual for me. I woke up with my heart pounding and actually feeling alarmed. But that does happen every once in awhile. Normally I am a very good sleeper, and I'm lucky in that.

Saturday was a really satisfying IE/UD. I felt good about what I ate and how much. I was more concerned with eating enough than anything, after the previous rough DD. I think I accomplished it without overdoing. Yesterday was a solid DD with probably in the neighborhood of 600 or so calories. The summer fruits are finally plentiful, reasonably priced, and actually juicy and flavorful. Peaches, grapes, cantaloupe. Mmmmm!

I also read quite a bit more of Intuitive Eating over the weekend. I may finish it up in the next few evenings. I have enjoyed this book and I think I'll start reading it again right away when I finish it, and keep little sticky notes with me so I can mark things I want to jot down to remember. I joined the Intuitive Eating Forum too. I just got the email that my membership has been approved and I haven't explored that yet, but will soon. I DO NOT need to spend more time online, but I thought it might help to see what more folks are experiencing and sharing. I hope that forum is as accepting and generous as this one is.

I also realized that I haven't been doing the YAYOG progression quite right. No big deal, but I was progressing through the cycles just straight through. Then Saturday I was perusing the book again and realized that you move from one cycle to the next only under certain circumstances. So this morning I started over with Cycle 1 but bumped my movement levels up one notch for each exercise. IT WAS TOUGH and I am sure I'll be sore tomorrow. But I feel like this may help me progress faster.

Oh, so sore this morning! My sit-down muscles are a'screaming. I guess that means I worked out hard enough yesterday. Thank goodness for recovery days!

Feeling a little hungry this morning, but hopefully that will pass. I need to get my coffee to get me going today. Tired, sore, hungry. Not a great combination.

You are doing great Carol. I have really been slacking with my weight lifting routine. It has been few months since I lifted weights. I need to get motivated again, as I really love lifting weights and your dedication is motivating for sure

I really like the DOMS feeling, as long as it's moderate. It reminds me when I move of the work I'm doing, and also that there are actually muscles in there. But yesterday was a little more than I like. Still a tad sore this morning, but will work as hard as I can at my workout in a bit.

Eating is going well. I'm just feeling a little down these past couple of days. I'm not sure why unless it's hormonal. Nothing big, just kind of meh. Not enthusiastic about anything, you know? I gotta get rid of that feeling.

Judy, I haven't had a chance to read much more of the book. When I finally get in bed I've been so sleepy I just konk out. Maybe I'll have some time today.

Way to go for continuing to eat well even when it's not exciting. I think that's a victory.

Thanks for the support, girls. It helps. I also had a nice long talk with my BFF in Missouri, and she's in a funk too. It helped just to talk.

I'm not sure how the HDE/IE would work with JUDDD, though JUDDD definitely prepares you for HDE and learning your hunger cues. I wouldn't be too concerned with HDE/IE not allowing you to meet your caloric needs with your exercise. I think our bodies are pretty amazing, and that, if you're truly in tune with your hunger cues, your body will tell you when/what/how much you need to support your activities.

It's really early in the process for me, so I can't back that up with personal anecdotes--just a feeling I have about the process. In The Overfed Head, he talks about how your body will naturally take you to the weight that's right for it. That resonates with me, and I just feel like it's probably true, if we're able to block out all the external noise and junk we've "learned" over the years. It's really scary, though, to trust our own bodies, when we've (I've) spent so many years feeling like my body was failing me, even though I know I've been failing it.
What is JUDD? I'm new to the site and new to the Atkins club. still learning lots of new tricks. I have lost around 7 pounds sense starting Atkins. I guess that isn't to good but I'm learning and trying hard. Thank you for taking time to answer and read this in advance.

JUDDD is a form of intermittent fasting, wherein you eat very low calories one day and "normal" calories the next, alternating. The acronym is for Dr. Johnson's Up Day Down Day diet. There's a subforum here at LCF with tons of information and lots of great people. JUDDD only has to do with calories, not carbs or other macros, unless that's how you eat to feel well in general. That's my short, canned answer.

Yes, I always have an adjustment period when it gets hot, so that may be part of it.

I had a bit of an emotional eating session this afternoon. I spent about an hour and a half on the phone with a family member who has so much drama and trauma in her life right now. She doesn't have that many people she can really open up to, and I'm one of the few. I heard the same things I've heard many times before, and there really is no apparent solution for the issues she has. All I can do is listen and commiserate. I feel so for her and wish she didn't have to go through all of this. When I got off the phone I was emotionally drained and I ate way too many frosted lemon bites I had gotten at the store to "test" my IE eating. Now they're gone! Failed that test!!!

Oh well. I counted it as my lunch. I'm not overly full, but have that sugar feeling. I'll be able to finish off the day using IE and be just fine. I'm already coming down off the emotional roller coaster and feeling more centered. But my productivity today is shot!
