Total Lifestyle Change

Yep another journal, but this this time it's different. This journal will not be just about food and fighting it. It will also be about the new journey to next chapter in my life.

I am starting over again as far as my LCing. For a week I want to do an egg/meat fast and go from there. Today so far so good. I have steak, jello, eggs, bacon on the menu.

I am quitting my job and moving myself and my mother 7 and 1/2 hours away to the other end of Texas. I plan on doing this in December. But that is the best case scenario. I am really unhappy with my job, and I'm having a hard time hanging on. But I have made a year long lease and I'll have to eat the sublet fee if I quit and move earlier.

My Mom has a lot of health issues and she came to live with me back in 08. She wants to go home and I want to go home. So we are going home.

The problem is : I'll be moving to a place where work is hard to find and pays half of what is does down here. I do not want to work shift work ever again.
I have to learn to stop spending money and live a simpler life.

So this journal is going to serve 2 purposes it will document my LC journey and my journey back to my place of origin and simpler life.

My menu for this evening is similar to yesterday. Bacon, eggs, t-bone, tuna pack, jello, mayo and pepper.
I dropped 2 lbs off the scale from yesterday so there is already a payoff.

I feel really good so far the meat egg fast is doing wonders for my body. I woke up really refreshed.

I am looking forward to my days off. I have to replace a broken cell phone and I am really going to try not to eat out at all.

Eating out has been a big problem for both LCing and saving money. This is something that I have to conquer.

My menu today is the same as yesterday, except no coffee. I feel really good and have dropped 2 more lbs of water. I got my new phone today, it was the 2nd to the cheapest phone available. I paid cash for it. The cheapest was sold out. I have not eaten out today.

I got through my 3 days off with no eating out. This is a big victory. I am breaking a habit that I have had my whole adult life. I'm a deep purple on the pee stick. My weight has settled at 275.0 which is probably my true weight, I have lost all the water that I'm going to lose. From here on out it is going to be fat loss.

The scale dropped today down to 273.8. Doing good my menu hasn't changed much. Still all meat with peppers.

The scale was the same as yesterday. I have made a whole week on all meat and pepper diet. I feel really good. I also haven't eaten out in a whole week and have not used my debit card for anything but gas. So I have accomplished my goals. I want to keep doing this as long as possible so that it becomes my new habit.

BecBelle--you sound so very determined! I am a little in awe of and very impressed by your "keep it simple/to the bare bones" style of eating. It is not easy. This is not my first go round with LC, either.

I am determined to NOT be derailed (by myself!) this time.

Keep that determination strong, girl! You can do whatever you set your mind to!

Heather, not eating out is a super big deal, it may be one of the keys to me making this permanent.

JudyJo, so far this stripped down way of eating has been making it easier and I haven't had the carb creep problem. For now it's really working.

Ladies thanks for stopping by.

I had an awesome day to today. I did shopping for a cousin who broke her arm and my Mom, it felt good to give of myself. I did not eat out and it is now 8 days of being resteraunt free. My menu hasn't changed except trying to drop coffee and go for chai tea. The scale hasn't moved in three days, but it looks like I'm in a pattern of 3 days holding 1lb loss on day four. I'll take it.

I had a big drop today from 273.8 to 272.4 which is 1.4 lbs. So I'm rocking out and feeling positive. My food hasn't changed except I have coffee today. I'm back at work. Today is a very pretty day.

I dropped again today. I'm down to 271.8. I feel excellent. Today my food choices are the same as the past week with one big exception. Today I'm going to eat half an avacado. TOM is supposed to show anytime now, so I'm waiting for that.

I had some drama at work in the past 2 days. I'm finally working through my anger issues and gaining maturity when it comes to dealing with things I can't control.

I am still around 272. Just still meat and peppers. I have gone a full two weeks without eating out. I'm getting stronger and stronger in breaking the habit.

Today Mom and I has serious convo about moving back home. I had gotten myself wound up about spending money. I had a couple of breakthroughs:

1. The whole point of saving the money was so that we could go home. I have to spend the money in order to fix the house to livable condition.
2. I don't have to do it all now. I can wait.

I'm going to keep a diary. Make small goals and keep them. Next week I am going to find a plumber and get in touch with city sewer department. Get pricing and work out logistics.

I have made up my mind to make this move I just have start small so I don't have another freak out.

I enjoyed reading your posts! You can do it! Keep going!!!!
I have also cut myself off from eating out, it was lunches for me. I slipped last week once but I made coffee in an actual coffee pot every day for the last 2 weeks so I know that saved me some money. Its hard when the co-workers go for coffee runs every day but I have been strong!
cheers!

where's_kyla?: oh boy I love, love coffee. I am trying to make my own or drink Chai tea. Thank you for dropping by!

I'm doing very well. I work rotating 12hr shifts. The worst part of my rotation is a stretch of 4 days Mon thru Thur. I just completed this stretch and boy was it awful!!! The workload was exhausting. But ya know what, I stuck to my guns and still haven't eaten out. I have deviated a little from meat and peppers but I was in survival mode to get through these 4 days. I have TOM right now, no new lows but I am shrinking.

Tomorrow I am going out of town, so I have to eat out. But I have planned exactly where and what I am going to eat. I will report back Monday on how I have done.

I think a lot of people need to do what you are doing just live a simpler life, I would love to get to that point. Simple food, simple house, simple living...would be so much less stress. Sounds like you are off to a fantastic start, best of luck to you!

Well I'm back from the trip. I didn't do as well as hoped but I did better than usual I didn't put on any weight. I am back in my work rotation and back in the groove of Meat, Peppers, Mayo, Jello. I am not going out of town till July. I made it almost 3 weeks with no eating out. My new goal is to make it all the way till July with no eating out.

I am a chemical lab technician and I work in a chemical plant. It is a 24/7 operation (we never shut down unless we have to), so 12hr shifts are necessary. I work 4 nights then I have 3 days off I work 3 days and have 1 day off and then it's 3 nights and 3 days off and I work 4 days and then have 7 off. All that time off sounds wonderful, but it really isn't. I have worked this type of schedual since 3/25/02 (for different companies)and I'm tired of it. It is a big reason why I'm simplifying my life and moving away from the area. I hope to escape shift work entirely.

YAY YOU!!!
I can empathize with the shift work thing. Years of nursing doing nights nearly killed me. I even had a sleep study done once because I was so messed up, I could no longer sleep during the day and was just totally exhausted. Almost always 12 hour shifts, but only once did I have 8 hour shifts and someone order me to do rotating days/evenings/nights (military hospital). I did it for one rotation, but then begged them to let me do all nights. At least that way I didn't have to keep flipping between all three shifts. The military hospital took away all flexibility for scheduling. As I got older, going to other hospitals and having more years in the field, I was able to move up to different positions and to dayshift. I also moved to different areas and related fields. I know that isn't always an option with some careers/professions, so I know I was lucky to have the opportunities to change my situation.
I honestly hope you can find work elsewhere doing something healthier for you.
KUTGW on your weight loss goals! You've done super, especially given your work schedule!

Yep, I'm a nurse that's why I asked. I do a set schedule. I can't flip between days and nights. NO way.

Great job on the new low ! Yippee !!

where's kyla--Thanks!!
Ms.Kitty--Yep I'm certain that my life and my health will get a whole lot better once I escape the 12hr rotation. I actually do fantastic on nights. Days KILL me. To get to work on time I have to get up at 4am and I just have such a hard time waking up in the middle of the night.
Laura--The flipping is the worst it's getting harder and harder to do.

Y'all thanks for the encouragement.

I have had no downward movement of the scale since my last post. I really need to post everyday. The very days I don't want to post are the days I need to.

The summer heat is coming. I'm about 4 weeks away from 90 degree weather and about 6 weeks away from 100 degree weather. To be fat in this kind of heat is just torture. Right now it is a big motivation to stay the course.

Back at work tonight. I have changed my diet in that I'm eating fat and meat together at every meal. Meat with mayo, or meat with oil. It's not a big veriation but I'm upping my fat. (just oil and butters) Chugging along

I'm not even sure what is a small vs large variation. I've taken to logging everything, including when I take my fiber (just to be sure it isn't absorbing some of my other supplements or nutrients), just so I can see if any of that makes a difference.
Sometimes, even small variations might be triggers that cause hunger or not, too.
Keep on it, BecBelle. Have a good night at work.
