Jeanne...hubby asked me to come off my eating plan for two days....I was eating a fair amount of meat and eggs and not much else really.....he has been really good and not said a word so far, well till a few days ago... anyway just so he wouldn't worry I promised to come off my eating plan for two whole days and to eat lots of fruit etc, I haven't eaten anything bad....salad, meat, fruit....and that is it apart from yesterday ate some crispbreads with cheese lol.....so that's how come the carbs are so high....but it has made him happy, he is so lovely (nearly perfect lol) spoils me rotten so I thought the least I could do was make him smile and not worry lol.....back on track tomorrow though....

Hello Sandy...so sorry to hear your daughter is ill. I hope she recovers soon, it's the worst when our kids are sick. I wanted to clarify my painting hobby-I don't paint in oils, I use acrylics and I literally am the worst artist on the planet, lol. But I love it anyway and do it for my own pleasure. The oil pastels are like fancy crayons. They're really soft and make quite a mess, but again, I love it. Sometimes I'm just an overgrown child in many ways!
I think taking a break from the diet is a good idea in some ways, it looks like you're still keeping calories quite low so you really shouldn't see much damage, if any.
I also get heart palpitations. I have a condition called electro bundle branch block. I really don't know much about it except that the electrical signal that makes your heart beat in a certain rythym gets lost somehow. It's not serious and requires me to do absolutely nothing. The cardiologist advised me to watch caffeine intake and that was all. I still enjoy my coffee and tea but don't go overboard. What I have noticed is now that I'm "enjoying" pre menopause that I sometimes go for days with palpitations and they'll just suddenly stop. I think it's hormone related. My doctor told me not to worry about it. It's kind of hard not to worry when your heart is jumping all over the place, isn't it?
At any rate, I hope everything works out well for your daughter and she's feeling better soon. Give her a hug from me!

Sandy sending prayers your way for your dd and her health....
Sounds like she is in the best of hands... Hoping for a fast recovery.

DNW, after talking with some folks on another blog about flutterings
when I lay down at night visited the Dr. He has me on a monitor for
24hrs... The biggest pain is I can't find much to wear to work to hide
all the wires. I did take my ketones and the were the darkest ever
so between stuff at work and the monitor I forgot to eat...

Well its nice to be back home again.....daughter is nearly better, she has four children so now and again it was hard going but a lot of fun, two of them are older though, 18 and 16, and the other two are 14 and 12, it was hard to keep track of them, and then when they were home each one seemed to have a lot of friends with them, so a really busy hectic house....I feel quite worn out today lol, anyway Nicola is now on the mend and all is well, I didn't realize kidney infections were so horrible though so that was a learning experience.
Well I decided not to get on the scales this morning.....but then just changed my mind as I need a starting point.....drum roll.....150.6 lol
Well it was to be expected, although I stuck to fruit, chicken salad and then the last couple of days I brought some weight watchers dinners and had those with cabbage to at least try and keep calories down.....it was hard being around so many carbs like cookies and cakes and fried rice etc etc.....and one of the days 2 tbsp. of fried rice accidently went into my mouth, I think I was feeling stressed lol...but that is as bad as it got....I guess it could have been worse...

Anyway thanks for all your support it was lovely this morning reading that I was missed.....yippee it is so nice to be back again....

Julie let me know what your test shows up, you have a good doctor by the sounds of it, it was good he did that, so now you can get to the bottom of it....I am sure all is well though, hope you aren't worrying to much......oh and your losses are so brilliant....is that six pounds this month or do I have it wrong.

Now off to check on Jeanne...and Nanamary.....already peeked at Susan.

Sandy - so happy things are on the mend and getting back to normal
I had heard of kidney infections, but from a co-worker and didn't realize the situation based on this. But until you go through something like this how would you know...?

DNW today, had myself a pitty party....
I am worried, but its mostly just coming to grips with how much I am not in control of stuff sometimes... What I can do is eat right and lose weight. I don't have/do any of the other things on the list to stop alcoholism&smoking.

Hope everyone sees losses on the scale!!

Hello everyone I have a challenge ahead of me for Easter,
Any advise will be appreciated for Easter at MIL. The whole family is obese and on the standard low fat and high carb diet. I was asked to bring fruit and some other carb. MIL will serve ham with sugar glaze. Should I just go off plan for one meal? I really just want to call out sick.... Maybe I should take a stash of bacon in a bag and eat that when I get tempted....hmmm

Julie....a pity party...they are awful aren't they....hope you are doing ok, we all have them, sometimes life can really test us...I always find if I am to stressed I have to do something for myself to pick myself back up, but you are right even though we aren't in control sometimes of things going on around us, we are in control of eating and how we look....I hope you are doing ok anyway....we will always pick you back up again...sending you hugs.
Oh the mother in law and her carbs lol.....is it possible to eat the ham and not the outer crust, is it just the outside that is honey glazed....as you are doing atkins 72 its going to be hard not having all the veg etc that goes with dinner, so could you take something that you couldn't eat like a potato salad...or some other carb loaden thing but then just not eat it......I guess you could take some lovely seasoned wings that you could eat and everyone else might enjoy.....but will you feel odd not eating the veg, are they the kind of people that will make you feel uncomfortable.....hoping someone might have some more suggestions....

Sandy - thanks for all the great ideas it does help. I have to bring fruit and bread (DH just reminded me the bring list) so I guess the bread constitutes as high carb...lol

Of course I asked in other threads and they came up with some suggestions too. I think I will take a salad, even though she probably won't like it...
Another person said to bring a stash of something you could eat or go to party after just eating a big LC meal from home... I told my husband I would lay low eat on the patio where my DH & I can hang out. Take a sampling of food, just not eat what is HC.

Any help is appreciated!!

Sending prayers to you and yours today for a full recovery!

Julie - try to eat something on plan before you go! Only eat what you know is going to cause you the least amount of gain. If anyone says anything, tell them it's doctors orders. You know that heart flutter doesn't want to be aggravated by sugar and carbs are sugar.

Thanks Garden that's a great idea!!

Went to cardiologist, still tests to do...stress&echo. I told him I was on low carb diet. I did see that my lab tests from Wednesday came back and my blood ketones were +3 at the high end, which is just where I want them to be. My cholesterol was low enough that I didn't need statins(which I told him I didn't want to take-he agreed) and I expect the next time I go in my cholesterol will be even better since I am adding more exercise...so I am happy of this! He asked me to take the baby aspirin just as a precaution.

It sounds like you are in good hands Julie...try not to worry, having tests etc is always stressful.... just think worry causes that cortisol to be produced which causes weight gain and stalls....its great your ketones are high, and your cholesterol not to bad and as you said will go even lower...its really good that your doctor is getting you checked out though.
Its a wonderful idea if you can stay out on the patio at your mother in laws and eat your low carb food, I wasn't sure if it was a formal sit down dinner, it sounds like you will be fine, and eat before you go as well...I am sure you are going to have a great time, it sounds like it could be fun.....the food issue is always going to get us though isn't it, I wonder what we are all going to be like when we are in maintenance, I think about it sometimes and it sounds really hard.....when I think to what I have eaten this week, which really was just fruit and salads etc but I still put just over two pounds on lol....I find it worrying, I think I have decided to get five pounds below my ideal weight so I have some room to play around.

Hi Sandy so glad you're back and your dd is on the mend! Four teenagers wow! I have been there myself. Fun but tough, they're busy busy busy all the time. Considering all that's been going on you've done great and now you're right back on track. That two measly pounds is probably just water anyway. It'll come right off!
Julie I agree with everyone's suggestions....Don't worry about what anyone says about what you're eating. This is for you not them. We're going out to brunch at a local restaurant and im a little sad that I have to limit myself but it's worth it.
