I decided to start a new journal for this year. I really want this to be the year that I finish my weight loss journey and head into maintenance.

I started the new year at 218. I am currently at 209. Today is day 14 on plan. I am very inspired by those who stayed on plan all last year. I am just going to take it one day at a time.

Today is day 15 of being back on plan. So happy to have successfully navigated 4 whole days. I'm taking one day at a time. Tomorrow can worry about itself.

Today's weight:209.2

Up .2 of a pound. No big deal. What I have noticed is that since I have tried going down on my calories by around 200, my weight loss is not as good. I am upping the calories back up today.

Today's numbers should look like this: 16.74 net carbs; 65.14 grams protein; 1741 calories

The tricky thing about weighing everyday is that our bodies fluctuate. I was weighing everyday, then finally said screw it, and went to once a week. It was driving me nuts! Congrats on your two week mark. Two weeks was how long it took me to kick my cravings in the butt!

Thanks for stopping in, green. I like to weigh every day and don't get freaked out by the fluctuations. I would drive myself more crazy if I only weighed once per week.

So I decided to up my protein and keep my calories the same. I just haven't been feeling good and I really think my body needs the protein. The bad thing about that is that I lowered my fat some and I feel more hungry. So...I can either feel like crap and not be hungry OR feel better and be hungry. What a sucky choice.

Today my numbers were :1739 calories;108 grams protein; 12.5 net carbs
Today's weight: 208.8

Today is day 16 on plan!!

Went to a Chinese buffet today and I passed the test. I'm sure that I ate some sugar and carbs in the sauce, but I ate chicken, broccoli, and mushrooms. Oh, and a salad with lettuce, cheese, and ranch.

Had a great day at a baby shower and out with family tonight to eat out and bowl. I didnt stray off plan at all. Had a small salad at shower and chicken Caesar salad for dinner. Now I am coming down with a head cold so not feeling too great. Hopefully I will have the energy to make some garlic chicken soup tomorrow.

Feeling really crummy. I did manage to fix the base for my soup but need to go to the store and pick up a roasted chicken to add to it. My carbs will probably be higher than usually because I am consuming a large amount of garlic. Getting back to health is more important than the scale right now.

Garlic chicken soup sounds delish. It is hard to find good stuff to eat at a Chinese buffet, but with the options available, I am sure you did fine. I hope you feel better soon.

The soup is amazing, Green! I would have never tried the recipe if I hadn't gotten sick. So glad I took the time to make it. I probably smell bad because not only did I eat the soup, I ate five raw garlic cloves.

I am still trying to get over this cold. I'm sure my weight is probably up because of the amount of garlic I ate yesterday, in addition to the fact that I didn't drink my water. I am so ready to feel better. The thought of eating meat just makes me sick so today I made a broccoli cheese soup with my homemade bone broth. I have been drinking a lot of bone broth.

I decided to check my carb count on some new supplements I'm taking. I estimated them to be around 6 net carbs per day. Maybe that's why the scale is not cooperating. Or it could be because my body is trying to heal. Ready to feel better.

Starting to feel better but not back to normal. My stomach is staying upset, I'm finding it almost impossible to eat any type of meat, chicken, or fish still. I can eat cheese, nuts, eggs, and homemade soups without problems. I pray my body is just holding on to water weight.

I tried...I really tried...to eat some chicken. One bite in my mouth and I almost threw up. Made some BPC to try and get some calories in....ain't happening either. My cold is getting better and my tummy issues are getting worse. Good grief!

Ok, so I'm down a pound but not getting too excited until it stays there. I finally broke down and went to the doctor because I just about passed out this morning. She thinks I never got over the sinus infection from last month. She put me on a stronger antibiotic. Hoping and praying it works. I have had a better appetite today so that is good.

Didnt weigh this morning because I wasn't at home. I am so proud of myself. I planned to have popcorn last night(air popped with CO drizzled over it.) I managed to eat said popcorn and didnt have the urge to eat the house down. I can usually have popcorn once a month and be ok as long as I stick to my plan the rest of the month. I had my best nights sleep in a long time last night.

Thanks, Shebasmudder. I wish I had taken better notes when I first started. I'm going to guess and say I was off all diabetes meds within the first several months. I slowly weaned myself off of the BP meds over the course of about a year and a half. I try to stick with my eating plan for my health now, as well as continuing to lose weight. I know I will have to go back on meds if I don't keep it up so it's a big motivator. Back when I first started, I took my BS reading before eating, 30 minutes, and one-two hours after eating so I could see what was happening within my body. I think it's important to stay on the meds until your BS is well within normal limits, then wean very slowly off and keep checking your numbers. Just give your body some time to adjust. Your pancreas will thank you for eating LC.

This is great information. I often wonder at what rate low carb affects your bg numbers and how quickly. I will be more patient. It's really impressive what you've done.

I have really been thinking about my diet soda habit today. I think it's contributing to my very slow weight loss right now. Hoping I can go cold turkey after my weekend girls trip coming up. My goal is just to stick with LC eating until after the weekend. I pray I don't sabotage myself while I'm out of town. My GF eats low carb also so that helps. We are planning on taking a lot of our food with us. So excited for this trip!

We are going to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. It's far enough away from home that no one will bother us, but close enough that it doesn't take forever to get there. They have a moonshine store in Gatlinburg that we love to go to. That's the only thing I'm worried about.

This is the first time in almost two years that staying strictly on plan is not working. I know it happens to a lot of people, but it's still not fun to wake up morning after morning with no weight loss or a gain. I will not give up though! I have to eat this way regardless of what the scale says.

Still no loss on the scale BUT I wore a new pair of jeans yesterday that have been sitting in my closet just waiting for me. I tried wearing them once before and they cut into my stomach and was very uncomfortable. Today they fit just right.

What worries you about the moonshine store ? I have never been but I hear it's beautiful. At least the storm is over and you all won't get stuck there.

I just don't normally drink and all of those flavored ones have sugar in them. I'm not really interested in messing with ketosis because it takes me so long to get over cravings.

Oh, I had no idea they had different flavors ! What is moonshine exactly ? Is it similar to vodka ? What do they start with ? You can tell I'm not much of a drinker either.

You live in the south and don't know what moonshine is?? Lol! It's 100% grain alcohol. The flavored kinds are probably not quite 100% though.

So....this has been an emotional day. I ended up having to call an ambulance for my dad today after he passed out. We are home now and have to follow up with his doctor. They think he has got something going on with the fluids in his body. I am still planning on going on my trip. My sweet hubby and daughter are going to hold the fort down for me. Hoping he will be ok until I can get back.

Hi, cfine !

So sorry to hear about your dad. Will say a prayer for you and your family. Enjoy your trip ! My hubby has a friend from Louisiana who goes home and brings back moonshine but I never tried it.

Have a great time !
