Aitch (Heather) goes back to basics.

Hi all. I thought it might be worth starting a journal if only to keep me on the straight and narrow.
Last year I lost 3st (42lbs) approx by starting out on Atkins induction. I gradually moved over to a sort of Paleo WOE and have, more or less, stayed with that. However, over Christmas and New Year I let things slide a bit. I don't beat myself up about a slip or fall off the wagon as long as I get back on track straight away and, let's face it, once in a year isn't that bad.
I am an insulin dependent diabetic so eating low carb is really good for my blood sugar numbers. I have sometimes been told to eat carbs by health professionals but they only do that once!!!
It is really nice to be here amongst other like minded people. Everyone is so friendly and helpful to one another. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Heather.

Feeling good and full of energy today. I'll take the dogs for a long walk and then do some tidying in the garden, I think.
I had to lower my insulin yesterday and may have to lower it a unit or so again today! One of the many blessings of LC.
Today's planned menu:-

B. BPT (not a coffee drinker but love tea).
L. If I am hungry I will probably have eggs and bacon cooked in coconut oil.
D. Steak with huge salad.
Snacks (if needed). Handful of nuts, bit's of meat, cheese, eggs.
Drinks. Lot's of water and tea.

I am going to research some age appropriate exercises today as well. I am 52, nearly 53, and I want to keep as active as possible.
To everyone else, have a great day and be kind to yourselves.

D. Peppered steak with salad or stir fry.
Snacks if needed: Bits of deli meat, boiled eggs.
Lots of tea and water.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Well, I weighed myself this morning and haven't lost anything at all. However I have lost inches. I'll just have to be happy with that I guess.

D. Steak, fried cabbage.
Lots of tea and water.

Hi Heather,

I think your menus look very nice!
I also think as long as you're losing something (pounds or inches), there's no need to worry!
You say you are exercising loads, and this could stop you from losing weight as such...

Also, you could be one of those people (like me) who do better on lower carbs, and so you may need to watch your salad, nuts and vegetable intake a bit more.

I'd try one thing first, i.e. lowering your carb intake before tweaking anything else. Maybe cut out nuts and up your fats a little? Or have smaller servings of salad and other vegetables, but a bit more fat to help you feel full for longer.

Anyway, as long as you are still losing inches I say well done!!!!
