Jayce-- Thank you! I'm feeling pretty optimistic!! We got this!

Gracie-- Thanks! I love eating low carb so far. Definitely the easiest "diet" I've heard of, haha.

Wish-- Thank you! I'm getting there a little at a time!

---

I'm back bearing a new progress pic! Not a very dramatic change, but hey! I'll take it.

Bec-- Thank you! I think so too! I also take some side view pictures and I think my belly is noticeably shrinking away!

Lady-- Thank you, you're too sweet!

Partyof7-- Thanks very much!

Well, today I'm back down to 221.4! I was back to my usual water intake yesterday so I'm thinking I was right about the scale being up because of that. Excited to get month 5 underway and see where it takes me! I can't believe I've been doing this for almost half the year now! I never thought I'd be able to stick with it this long, but I'm so glad that I have and will continue to. I really honestly think this forum makes all the difference in the world! It keeps me accountable while also providing support.

Great job Lauren! The difference in pics is amazing I was reading something yesterday that explained how weighing every day is misleading. Our bodies can either hold water or release it depending on what's going on. There can be a daily fluctuation of 1-4 pounds!!! I've had a cold the last few days and in the mornings my rings have been snug. I have been perfect on plan but I think my body is holding onto the fluids to help me beat this cold. I'm thinking of only weighing once a week, either every Friday or Saturday morning. Those daily fluctuations are totally normal but can be so frustrating!!!

Thanks, Gracie! I know that weighing every day isn't always going to be accurate, but for some reason it keeps me focused on what I'm trying to accomplish. I keep a spreadsheet with all my daily weigh-ins and have a little line graph with a crazy line that hops all over the place! But it consistently trends downward, and that reminds me that I'm really doing this. I agree that it can be frustrating sometimes though!!

221.4 again today! Stayed out way too late last night... at Wal-Mart of all places! LOL. Finally found those sugar free chocolate chips. I think LC cookies are on the horizon! Very ready for the weekend as I am absolutely pooped! I could sleep sitting up right now.

Good morning! For a Monday anyway, haha. Had a great weekend! I saw 220.2 yesterday, but today I'm back up to 221.4. So tired of seeing that number! I think I might try weighing once a week for a little while, just to switch it up. I'm almost afraid to do that though-- I don't want to lose focus on what I'm doing after sticking with it for so long now. Weighing every day really helps me keep this on the forefront of my mind rather than just letting things go and seeing how it all comes out in the wash, you know? Something to think about. I might give it a try this week just to see how it goes.

Very excited for Friday!! My brother is coming down from MD to visit us, and he's bringing the new computer I had him build for my husband's birthday in May. Can't wait to see him and I'm sure my husband can't wait for his new computer! LOL!

Yay! Congrats, Lauren.

Question: If you don't mind me asking, what seems to help with your anxiety? I'm struggling with it in some areas. Thanks!

Thank you! I don't mind you asking at all! I'm sorry you're going through that, anxiety is a real jerk. I have clinical anxiety so I take prescription medication for it, but it's certainly not a 100% foolproof cure. I've found what really helps is trying to change the way your mind starts rolling when you feel anxiety coming on. The natural reflex is to try and fight it and resist, but if you can manage to tell yourself "it's okay to be feeling anxious in this moment, bring your worst!" for some reason that seems to cause it to pass much quicker for me. I guess because for me the worst part of anxiety is the sense of dread.

I went to a therapist during college to help me find ways of coping with anxiety symptoms that aren't totally blocked out by my medication, and she gave me a few methods I found super helpful. One is a little breathing exercise-- you breath in through your nose for 4 counts, hold it for 4 counts, and breath our your mouth for 8 counts. If you do that a few times you'll actually feel your heart rate start to calm down. I have the 8 attitudes of recovery written down on an index card in my wallet, and if I feel really anxious I will go somewhere quiet and read over them. Some of them are so contrary to your natural reaction that it does take a little while to get into these habits.

Sometimes it also helps to give yourself a little timed break, just to let any feelings of being overwhelmed pass. For me it helped to actually time the break, otherwise the sense of feeling like I was "wasting" time just contributed to the anxiety.

I hope any of that helps you and is relevant to your experience!

Lauren....I know how excited you are...we are about the same wt...now..wow...but I am a shorty at 4 11....lol

I am staying busy with lots of yard work right now so that is my exercising....
I work on quiet projects to have quiet time...and I have my prayer time each day which I know God helps me face whatever comes into my path for the day..
I started a new jigsaw puzzle and I work on it just as I feel like it and I enjoy that ....I have a place in my craft room on a table it can stay on until I finally finish it....
I know keeping busy helps my with my losing weight...
Of course I love spending time watching movies or out with my sweet DH...

Trying to decide if I want to cut my hair as short as yours this summer....will wait and see...it is so hot here in the desert...it is short now but not over my ears yet ....just thinking...

Bren-- Thank you!

Jayce-- Of course! No problem at all. Hope it helps!

Gracie-- Thanks so much!

Lady-- That's awesome! You're doing great! I agree that keeping busy seems to help a lot. For me it keeps me from eating things I shouldn't be eating, too. Especially if I'm having a day where my willpower is particularly weak.

---

Today I'm at 219.4 again! I love when a new low "sticks" like that. Going to get my hair trimmed tonight, which I am super excited about. It's looking a little shaggy up top! Plus I really love my hairstylist, my BFF and I go to see her together every time and we have a lot of fun.

Then this weekend my brother is coming for a visit! Super excited about that as I haven't seen him since Christmas. Annnd we're steadily getting closer to our anniversary vacation! Just two more weeks until I'm basking on the beach, ahhh~

Jayce-- I really do, I have been super blessed lately. Things have been looking up in a major way.

---

I'm at 218.8 today! I almost died of shock. I usually always bounce up after a new low, so I wasn't expecting to be pleasantly surprised with another new low right after. I'll take it! Haha. Feeling very fresh and shiny today, sporting my freshly-trimmed hair and a positive attitude. I also tried on a pair of pants I had hanging in my closet that I haven't been able to wear in almost two years-- they fit me even better than when I first bought them! I'm just on cloud 9 today and feeling invincible! If only it were Friday too!

Great news!!! I love closet shopping. I have sizes ranging from 10-18 . It's so awesome when we get into the smaller sizes.

Can you post some of your menus for ideas? I don't want to start getting bored. I need to start adding some variety!

Yayyy, it's Friday!! My brother is getting in tonight so I'm pretty pumped about that. I'm still at 218.8 today. The weather is very murky and drizzly today so I'm kind of in a bad mood, but trying to kick that. Hopefully the sun will start peeking out again this afternoon. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Popping in really quickly to say that I'm at 217.8 this morning! Woah! I don't know why I'm losing so fast all of the sudden but I guess I'm doing something right. I haven't really changed anything in my diet so far. I guess the body just does what it does. Off to breakfast with my brother in a few minutes, ttfn!

Good morning! What a beautiful weekend we had here... the weather was just perfect! I love when the weather is nice and we can ride around in our truck with the windows down and the sun warming our faces. My brother's visit was super fun! It was good to see him. We went and saw Spider-Man 2. I'm a huge Spider-Man fan... when I was a teenager my friends used to tease me because my room was all decked out with Spidey stuff, they said it looked like the room of an 8-year-old boy. The movie was great though! Just as good, if not better, than the first one.

Yesterday I saw 216.6. I almost fell off the scale in shock. Today I had my expected bounce up-- back to 219.2-- but still feeling very encouraged by the numbers I've been seeing lately. It's always nice when the scale is kind to you. But I'm still reminding myself that those numbers lie and the real victory is in the way I have been feeling. Which is like an Amazonian goddess!

I had to buy some new clothes over the weekend because stuff is starting to get baggy. I'm also going to start unpacking my "Summer" stuff when I get home and see if I have any forgotten gems in there that might fit now. A little less than 2 weeks until our beach vacation. Life is good!

Thanks, Partyof7! Yes, it really is. Even with some off days I'm still overall very glad I made this change.

---

Well, today I'm at 219 even. Had some car trouble yesterday that left my battery dead. Ugh! It was super stressful and I'm frustrated to admit that I ate like 5 sugar free chocolate chip cookies JUST because I was stressed out. What?! I thought I had dealt with that particular impulse, but apparently not. So I was way over on my carb count yesterday. The frustrating thing is that I knew perfectly well what I was doing and why I was doing it, and I decided to do it anyway! Anyway, I'm back on track today. Hopefully my car will be fixed by tomorrow.

219.6 today. Noticing today that my pants are all starting to get baggy-- everywhere but the waist! What's that about? My legs, hips, and butt are shrinking but my waist doesn't want to shrink away haha. Still trucking along! My hubby is fixing my car today, so at least that should be over with soon. Getting so close to our beach trip!! My new swimsuits I ordered online came in the mail yesterday. Pretty soon we'll be relaxing in the sun! Just nine more days!

Don't have much to say today, but I wanted to pop in just to stay in the habit. I've been at 219.6 for 3 days straight. I think it's because I've been munching on some sugar free candy the past couple days. I'm going to try limiting myself to maybe once a week just to see if it makes a difference. I've been feeling really fatigued this past week and I'm not sure if it's because I'm not getting enough sleep, or something else. I guess time will tell!

Our first anniversary is on Sunday! Can't believe we've been married for a year already. Time flies!
