Yes!! Any day there is no gain is a good day!!

Still trucking along at the same weight. Half of my kiddos (older two from college) are home for Spring Break. Going to be a busy week!! It's amazing how much more work there is with two more adults in the house!

I haven't been writing down and adding up my carbs but I have a pretty good idea that I'm keeping them low and around the same as before.

Thurs:
B~Coffee, HW, stevia, Atkins shake mixed with 1/4 avocado & 1T pb
L~Atkins frozen meal: Beef Merlot
D~2 Eggs, 2 sausage patty, 2 bacon
S~SF popsicles
Exercise: Turbo Kick 1 hour

Fri:
B~Coffee, HW, stevia, Atkins shake
L~Wild Wings-6 Garlic wings, side salad, celery, southwest ranch
S~Atkins bar
D~Atkins shake mixed with 1/2 avocado, 1T pb
Exercise: Zumba 1 hour

Sat:
B~Coffee, HW, stevia, 2 eggs, 2 sausage, 1 bacon
L~Atkins shake
S~1/3 stalk celery, homemade guacamole
D~Homemade chili w/ red onion, jalapeno, sour cream, cheese
D~Carbsmart Almond ice cream bar
Exercise: walking

Sun:
B~Coffee, HW, splenda
L~few salt and pepper pork rinds, hummus
S~Atkins bar
D~sm. side salad, ranch, crab legs w/ butter
D~Carbsmart chocolate ice cream

So, now I'm caught up! One thing I noticed in typing up my menus that I do use a lot of Atkins product. Interesting.... may want to try to cut back and eat more food Their products are so convenient you know! I do wonder if it hinders my weight loss. It certainly didn't the first go around but maybe now. I don't think that I will ever give up the shakes but I could cut back on bars and ice cream.

I think your onto something regarding the LC food products (Atkins ect...). I have seen others' post that they have experienced stalls using them. Why not go for a week without them? Test it and see if your weight starts to budge. I stopped using Splenda and switched to Truvia in my coffee and tea. I lost 8 lbs effortlessly! So I guess that's my two cents !

Hope your enjoying your boys during their spring break. Have you done anything special? This is my DS19's first year of college and it's been hard to have him be so far away. My DS8 really misses him, they FaceTime every Sunday

Have a great LC day

Hey, Friend!

I finally got around the stopping in. I'm sorry it's taken me TWO MONTHS. Ugh. I have been thinking about getting back into the lifestyle...obviously a LOT of thinking, because I haven't committed yet. I don't know if I am scared of failure, or just afraid to actually start, but I came here to see how/ what everyone is doing, and maybe get some courage

I am so glad to see that you are still here posting after two months. You are an inspiration, and I know you will do it! I NEED to do it I am my heaviest ever (besides being pregnant), and I am sick of it. And my heath is suffering, as well.

I think I will hang out here for a couple of days and get inspired. I've been thinking of getting back on plan next week after St. Pat's (It's kindof a big holiday at our house, and I have to do it this year, since we won't be going to my husband's family's house like we usually do). Until then, I think I will go back and read your journal and see how you've been doing (and get some menu ideas from your menus!)

HUGS!!! <3<3

Hi Beth,

How are thos Atkins meals? I never tried them but they look good. I have tried the bars and they are great for a snack.

Have a great LC day!

So, it has been just over a month since my last post! Wow, time goes by fast! I thought I would stop in and give an update....

I finally got really fed up with my weight stalling despite my low carb efforts and exercise. I ended up going to the doctor to see if she could help me figure it out. She put me on a machine that did a body composition profile. It gave me a print out of my BMI, Total Fat Mass, Total Body Water Mass, Total Predicted Muscle Mass, Resting Metabolism, and Mortality Risk. Here are the results (so that later I can compare):

Visit to Dr. 3/29/14

Weight: 146-with clothes on
BMI: 32 (30-40 Obesity)
Total Fat Mass: 33.5% 49 lbs of fat
Total Body Water Mass: 48% (this was measured in torso, legs, & arms)
Total Predicted Muscle Mass: 27 lbs
Resting Metabolism: 1348 (amt of energy my body burns a day at rest)

I am 33% over my ideal weight is the conclusion. I have to admit I was a little shocked at my results. I knew I needed to lose some weight but I honestly thought my results wouldn't be this bad. I was glad that I had been exercising. I can't imagine how bad it all would be if I had not been to the gym like I have in the last 3+ years!!

Given that my resting metabolism only burns 1348 calories, I started to understand that by only eating that many calories a day I was just maintaining my weight. I had started already keeping track of my calories on my phone and had set them at 1200 to see if I could watch carbs and calories and lose. I was starting to lose some but it was going VERY slow. The doctor suggested that I drop my calories to 1000 a day. She gave me a daily meal plan guide but when I looked at it and saw a bunch of fruit, bread, and milk I told her that I wasn't going to be able to do it that way. I had found that my body didn't do well to sugar. She said she understood that and it was just a guideline. I was so glad! She gave me a appetite suppressant and a B12 shot. I am supposed to go back to see her at the end of this month.

Soooo, are you ready to hear what has happened since then? Well, so far I have lost 7 pounds (on my scales that morning without clothes I weighed 144 so I am going with that weight here). I have been doing very well keeping up with my low carb eating and calories. I am exercising and starting to lift some weights. My doctor said I really needed to make sure I built muscle. She will make sure that I don't burn my muscle but just fat. I am starting to get my hope back and feeling stronger.

Hope everyone is doing well. I will have to come and catch up with you.

That is exciting to read about your weight loss over the past month! I have not found a Dr. here in Maryland since moving here (about 7 months ago), but maybe I need to find one that will be able to do that for me. Any time I have mentioned my weight with a Dr., they always just say, watch what you eat and exercise. Duh.

I was just coming here to check in on you. I finally started back on plan today. I NEED to. And I want to. But I know how hard these first few weeks are. I really want to get back, mentally, to the point I was at before, where I wont even cheat one little bit!

I hope you are back soon!

I'm here to report some great news!! I went to the doctor today to get my monthly report. I'm so excited something is finally working for me! I am still eating low carb but watching calories. Finding out that my body at rest doesn't burn much has helped me understand why I was not losing. I am also happy to report that I lost NO muscle and only fat!! This report shows my first number and my numbers for today. Love having this read out! I really worked hard this month and it has paid off. Exercise too is the key. I exercise 4 times a week. This next month I really want to gain some muscle so I will focus not only on cardio but weight lifting. Here are the results

March 29-April 28

Weight: 146-132.5=13.5 lbs lost
BMI: 32-28 (Normal is 20-25)
Fat Percentage: 33.5%-29.6%
Fat Weight: 49 lbs.-39 lbs.
Water Percentage: 48%-50%
Water Weight: 70 lbs.-66.5 lbs.
Muscle Mass: 27 lbs.-27 lbs.

Fat Distribution:
Torso: 30.5 lbs.-24.5 lbs. (38.1%-33.7%)
Left Leg: 6.1-4.9 (25.1%-22.2%)
Right Leg: 6.1-4.9 (23.4%-20.7%)
Left Arm: 3.0-2.4 (37.5%-33.1%)
Right Arm: 3.0-2.4 (36.5%-32.2%)

Yay! Good for you. Sounds like you have an awesome Dr. I have been on 9 days now and have lost 6-ish lbs. It was 7, but I gained a half pound back each day the past two days. Grrrr. I know I will drop it. Just frustrating. I have a goal to lose 10-15 by Memorial Day. We will see.

Still hanging in there and working my low carb watching calories lifestyle. So far I have lost 30 pounds. Even after two weeks on vacation and staying strong, I lost 3.8 pounds. That has never happened before! This brings my weight down to 123.4! Feeling so much better and stronger! Hoping by the end of the summer if not before I will be back to my lowest!

Low Carb Mommy-
I'm so happy for you regarding your weight loss . It sounds like your almost at goal
I was wondering what kind of machine did your doctor use to get that kind of report for you? Is this a weight loss doctor or your regular physician? I'm totally interested in having this done.

Hope your having a great summer
