2014 - Vilya's Continuing Voyage

Hi, LC peeps! I'm baaaaack!

New year, new thread. I had a lot of ups and down last year, and finished not where I wanted to be. The good news is that there's always another day to try again.

Last year, I wanted to get into the 170's, but that didn't happen. This will be the year, though, I feel it!

Right now, I have a nice burger florentine casserole in the oven and looking forward to enjoying it!

Happy New Year to all.

Thanks Jen!

I've taken off 6 of the 9 lbs. I gained in less than a week, so that tells me it was clearly water weight. We'll see what the final number is on Sat.

Hi Vilya. It's been a while since I checked in with you. Starting a fresh new year is always a nice feeling. I am not where I wanted to be either, but just thankful to be here still trying.

Hello, ladies!! Very happy to be back, and to see you all.

I am absolutely chuffed to announce that I lost 8 lbs. this week!!! That's why, even though I was horrified that I gained 9 lbs. in 2 weeks, I knew it wasn't "fat" weight, so it would come off much more easily.

Gonna aim to be back in Onederland by next Sat.!

The burger florentine recipe is from Linda's Low Carb; I think it's called Dottie's Burger Florentine Scramble (or something similar). It's sooooo good.

Good day, calorie and carb-wise, but I think probably too much protein and not enough fat. It's hard to get it all right, but I'm trying.

I find it quite difficult to eat enough fat, actually. I never thought I'd say that, but it's true. I can easily OD on protein, but fat - that's hard!

Food so far today: 2 scrambled eggs; 4 slices bacon; 1 Babybel cheese. Lots of coffee w/HWC.

I've been eating Atkins frozen dinners here and there, and I'm glad to have the option, because it does keep me from overeating. Whenever I cook something, I always end up eating too much at one sitting.

Since I'm now self-employed, I find that I don't eat for the first time until noon or so, so I am essentially only eating 2 meals a day. Not sure if this is a good idea or not, but it's what's happening right now.

6/22/13: the 100 lb. loss only lasted a few weeks, and I've since regained some of the weight. Stats updated to reflect this.

Hi V. I tend to overeat when I make certain dishes too. Like the yummy LS casseroles. Thanks for pointing me in the direction for the Florentine dish. I want to make it. I tend to make my favorites over and over and over and forget to try new things.

I think 2 meals is fine. I'd rather have 2 big meals than 6 small meals, so I sometimes do that too.

I've read some books on Intermittent Fasting and some of them suggest eating only certain hours a day...like from noon - 7:00 and says the whole eat breakfast thing is crap. Of course, I've read a million books that suggest you must eat breakfast.

So, I think it is safe to say...if it works for you, they'll be some research out there that says it is good!

I still am AWFUL about eating vegetables. I just don't like them much, so it's always been a struggle to eat them.

Still making good food choices. I THINK I will be at 200 by Sat., but not 100% sure. If I'm lucky, I will hit 199 and be back in Onederland. For good, this time!

Thanks, Cindy! I need to go back over to the Century Club board and check in with everyone there.

How's this for random food today? I've eaten 2 nitrate-free hot dogs and 4 squares of 90% dark chocolate. Mmmm, really goes together well, doesn't it?

All I've eaten today is a small amount of popcorn, and natural peanut butter.

You know, it's been so long since I've eaten at Induction levels of carbs, and I had forgotten how well it suppresses the appetite. I haven't been very hungry for over a week, and that's nice.

Ughhh, got no sleep last night, and now I'm tired as poop. I need a nap, or I will end up eating stuff I shouldn't. Fatigue makes for bad choices.

OK, took nap, feel better.

Eating LC means I get to do stuff like sit here and eat what is basically a bowl of meat and not feel the slightest bit guilty about it.

This is one of my favorite meals: ground beef, browned with onions and garlic (or not, your choice) and drained, then add some tomato sauce (I use canned), whatever seasoning you want, and a little parm cheese at the end. If I'm feeling sassy, I hit it with a slug of heavy cream at the end, too.

Voila, meal!

Still doing well. This is the most time I've managed to string together in a long time where I was consistently making good choices.

I needed to get back into the groove, and I feel like I'm almost there. Just gotta stick it out another week or so, and I think I will be back in full swing.

Dang, you know what? I just went back over my weight-loss logs and realized I lost almost 40 lbs. without trying before I was diagnosed with diabetes. That should have clued me in, but it didn't. I was just happy I was losing weight!

Tomorrow is my weigh day, and I think I will be back in Onederland. I'm eating lightly today, just in case.

I'm actually surprised that I lost last week, after losing 7 lbs. in one week. Usually when that happens I'll stay static for 2-3 weeks before losing again. But we'll see!

Awwww, yeah!! I'm back in Onederland, baby! Here to stay.

I just can't handle more than about 30 carbs per day if I want to lose. I just can't. That stinks, but it's the reality. My blood sugar can handle more carbs than that, but not my weight.

I don't know what has happened to me, but I'm filled with all kinds of resolve. I had a couple of bad carb days (the weekend), but today I am ON POINT and have made good choices all day.

I've finally regained my motivation, and it's AWESOME.

I deserve a freaking medal for today. Went to the grocery store and managed to get out of there with not a single carb making its way into my basket.

I've got a big public-speaking thing coming up in about 5 weeks, so that's helping to keep me motivated. I want to look my best.

Food today:
-- coffee with HWC
-- 2 babyback ribs
-- canned chicken w/mayo
-- salami w/cream cheese rollups
-- 4 Nilla wafers (10 carbs for 4)
-- Carbmaster yogurt

Wow, that's a LOT of protein. I need to cut back on that a bit and get in more fat instead. Hmmmm....

Thanks for the support, you guys!
