godsbeloved79's "Begin with the End in mind" Journal 2014

I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday.

I believe with any kind of change, the desire to want to change is the most important step and then putting your desire to change to action is the next step. Seems like I've been down this road a million times, but I refuse to give up and remain the same. There's a Woman on the inside screaming to be released. "The journey is the reward."

I love the new journal title -- "Begin with the End in Mind" is a GREAT philosophy! It's so easy for us to get discouraged along the way, but as long as you keep fighting & keep striving, you will be rewarded.

Here's to 2014, chica!

Benefits of Low Carb Diets

There are a lot of potential benefits to reduced-carbohydrate diets. Some of them have been intensely studied, while others have been commonly reported among people who have reduced the carbohydrate in their diets. Not everyone will gain all these benefits, of course. People who are more sensitive to carbohydrates are probably more likely to receive more benefit.

Commonly Reported

These are some of the most commonly reported benefits in low carb forums, support groups, and informal surveys. (Some have preliminary scientific evidence, but more subjective improvements are harder to study.) The first two are by far the most commonly reported, and these benefits usually happen by the end of the first week, although sometimes it takes another week or two. Results are obviously going to be variable between individuals.

Increased energy
Cravings for sweets gone or much less
Better mental concentration; no “brain fog”
Improved mood; emotions more even
”Compulsive” or “emotional” eating gone
Improved dental hygiene (less dental plaque; improved gum health)

Sometimes Reported

These are more variable, partly dependent upon the symptoms the person was having in the first place. Again, a low carb diet can in no way be considered a cure for these conditions, and this is not a scientific survey. Also, rest assured I am not listing every benefit I have ever heard of - these have been mentioned enough to make me think that there is validity to them for some people.

Improvement in joint or muscle pain
Fewer headaches
PMS improved
Gastrointestinal symptoms, such as heartburn, improved
Improvement in skin appearance

Day 1: Induction

How did I forget to weigh, and I've had it on my mind all week??

I'm excited about my new venture with low carbing, and I've decided not to compare this journey with any of my other attempts. This is a "New" day and I'm going to embrace this like never before. I'm thinking clearly on all the positive benefits, losing weight and feeling confident above myself will bring. I'm ready to have clarity of mind, clearer skin, and controlled appetite.

Gym? I'm thinking of joining Planet Fitness, but I'm kind of hesitant; because I did this once before and didn't commit whole heartily. So I'll start off with my 30-45 minute power walks and go from there.

Menu:

Breakfast: bacon and eggs with a sprinkle of shredded cheese
Lunch: Baked tilapia with Italian cut green beans
Dinner: Chef salad with the remaining tilapia
Snack: dill pickles and cheese cubes on hand

64 ozs or more of H20

Day 2: Induction

I still forgot to weigh this morning, by the time I remembered to do so; I was almost fully dressed. I'll put the scale right next to the bathroom as a reminder to do so in the morning.

On another note; I'm looking forward to working out tomorrow afternoon with my IT director at work, who's taken the initiative to help me get this weight off the healthy way.

He was 340 lbs and lost 130 lbs, with exercise and clean eating. With his permission, I've posted his picture below.

Menu:

Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs
Lunch: Didn't prepare anything, so I'll grab a grilled chicken salad
Dinner: Haven't had lemon pepper wings in a while
Snack: dill pickles and cheese cubes on hand

64 ozs or more of H20

That's great that you have someone not only to support you, but who's also struggled with some of the same issues & been successful! This will be a great asset for you!

Oh yea, he's cute, btw. Haha!

Happy New Year Lynn and "friends". Great start to the new year and wish you and everyone the best success for us all this year. Holidays are over and it felt great going in knowing that this is a lifestyle and not a temporary fix. So onward and forward to continued health and happiness.

Yes he has and I love the fact that he is Soo eager to help others, because he himself understands how the struggle is to lose weight. Now he's battling keeping it off.

Happy New Year! Thanks so much for your continued support; I believe this is my year for restoration and for me to get off the do-nothing-seat and be about God's business!

Day 4: Induction

Late post. Got an early start this morning, and hit the Gym with my co-worker.

We stayed for an hour and 30 minutes (cardio and legs). I was pretty wiped out afterwards, and came home to shower and take a nap.

Menu:

Breakfast: 2 sausage patties with cheese
Lunch: skipped
Dinner: Farmhouse turkey and bacon salad from Arby's

Still forgot to hop on the scale. We'll see if I don't forget in the morning; I'm actually curious to see.

Hey Marl, thanks for the encouragement as usual!

I'll make sure not to skip meals; even on the run maybe grab a boiled egg or something quick. Another reason why being prepared with legal foods on hand is imperative.

Day 5: Induction

So I finally managed to hop on the scale, been forgetting all week. I'm actually surprised, as I thought I would be much heavier because I have been eating lots of crap, especially with all the holiday festivities.

I weighed in this morning at 232.4 lbs. My first mini goal is to get to 220; once I get there, then my next goal will be to get back to Onederland.

Meals:

Breakfast: Scrambled eggs with cheese and real bacon bits
Lunch: Salad with tilapia
Dinner: Steak and Italian green beans

Day 6: Induction

Good Afternoon!

I'm feeling pretty good today. Woke up feeling a lot lighter and I know that has much to do with my body being detoxed from all the junk I use to consume. I can't wait to wear my old clothing again! It was 48 degrees here in FL, and I so wanted to be able to wear my favorite sweater (but it was too tight) . It's all good though, cause I'm doing everything in my power; with God's help to get this weight off for good. 2014 will truly be a better year, mind, body and soul.

Meals:

Breakfast: 2 cups of coffee with cream and scrambled eggs with cheese and bacon bits
Lunch: Steak and broccoli
Dinner: Stemmed shrimp and broccoli

Good Morning,

So I decided to weigh this morning, and I'm 231.2.

I didn't have my official weigh in until Day 5 of Induction, and I was 232.4 lbs. Wish I would have weighed Day 1 like I planned. Any who, that makes me 1.2 lbs lighter. I'll take it!

Meals:

Breakfast: 1 cup of coffee with cream / wasn't hungry
Lunch: Broccoli with steak
Dinner: Stemmed shrimp and grilled chicken

The days are moving along, and soon they'll turn into weeks, months, and years. I can't stress enough how happy I am, that I'm finally back on the wagon and committed again.

I have so much encouragement at work, home, LCF, and my own personal "Will power". I'm truly grateful.

Meals:

Breakfast: Sausage patty and eggs with cheese
Lunch: Bacon ranch salad
Dinner: Not sure yet - but legal

Day 10: Induction

It's the weekend, and I'm enjoying every bit of it. Noticed that my throw on joggers are fitting a lot looser and my stomach isn't hanging over them as much as it used too when I pull the drawstring. I'm loving the determination, more than anything and my husband is being such an Awesome supporter.

Meals:

Breakfast: Beef sausage with eggs and cheese
Lunch: snack on leftover beef sausage
Dinner: Not sure yet, but definitely something legal

Day 11: Induction - Day 12: Induction

I've been pretty much sticking to the same meals to keep things simple.

No exercise, as TOM has been present and I'll be honest; exercise hasn't been on my mind. It actually crept up on me, I didn't have all the cramps and etc like before. One of the many benefits from eating low carb.

Meals:

Breakfast: Beef sausage with eggs and cheese
Lunch: beef with sauteed bell pepper and onion
Dinner: leftovers of beef with sauteed onion and bell pepper / leftover wings
