thoughts/reminders to myself

I've been off and on LC for about 16 years.

I just need a place to keep a log...but I don't feel (right now) like going into a whole lot of detail.

I started eating clean the day after Christmas...so I'm about to finish my third day!

My plan...eat meat, eggs & veggies.

NO peanut butter
NO nuts
NO yogurt
NO breads & sugars
NO bars (Quest, atkins, etc)

Those are foods that seem to make me want to eat more and more...of anything.

Right now, I feel victorious...I hope i can keep it up!

I'm just finishing TOM and I think that is a good time for me to start eating clean...it seems to be when I am strongest.

I've just got to keep a strong resolve...when I cross over 200 lbs...everything starts to hurt...and nothing I wear seems to look/fit right.

I want to feel better in my body and look better...

Here I go...

Looking good to finish day 4 of eating clean...

I'm hoping to stay strong! It will be so exciting to feel my clothes getting more loose...
I look forward to that!

I've no doubt you *will* stay strong! I'm cheering you on. Your eating plan sounds just like the one I've been following since the beginning of September and it has been so satisfying and pleasing that I've not experienced any difficulties. I'm sure that will prove true for you as well. Good luck.

Thank you Lola! Your stats are wonderful! Staying strong since September is great! You've really got it going now! I'll be so glad when I have some momentum behind me! Seems like first 3 days is an accomplishment...then on to 3 weeks...if I can make it past 3 weeks...I can stay on plan for a long time... I just need to stay away from LC "legal" foods that induce cravings in me...

Thanks again for dropping by!

I'm very much the same in that I know I must avoid some 'legal' things...nuts and artificial sweeteners, for example...because they cause cravings. Being VLC seems to have killed cravings and temptations which pleases me no end. We were away for a week over the hols and ate almost every meal out. I stayed LC but expected to have gained some weight as one loses control over food prep when eating out. However, I was surprised and very happy to see the scale actually indicate a loss when we returned home. So I'm a total believer in this VLC approach.

Starting again myself.........Christmas was my downfall and I piled the weight back on! Back at it again because I can't stand the way I feel! You can do it and so can I.....if we put our minds to it :jumpjoy!

My stats are not accurate........too ashamed to actually change them.

Lola, I think the VLC works best for me too...when I ate mainly meat back in 2010--with some salad & veggies thrown in, I lost most consistantly and felt the best. I bought Quest bars & added some other things in my diet and that did me in...downward spiral...

My plan is to eat so boring and clean that I won't crave...hearing that you've been able to do that for months is very encouraging. Back in 2010 I did it for 6 months...not one "cheat"...boy, I felt great...I just have to stay strong...

Susan, you are right we can do this! I'm a librarian at our school, and the two weeks before school I had mucho opportunities to eat Christmas treats...and I sure did ...I love the taste of party type snacky foods. But I felt all puffed out and miserable...so I'm ready to get that poison out of my system!

I do wonder how much my resolve is because of eating very little carbs or because of where I am in my TOM cycle. Seems like I'm usually weakest right before and usually strongest right after...I dunno...

Feeling good today...about to wrap up day 5 of clean eating!
I had lunch at Genghis Grill---a Mongolian restaurant where you put all the meat/veggies you can fit in a bowl...and the person behind the grill cooks it...then puts it over pasta or rice...I had mine without the pasta or rice...only the meat & veggies...it was so good and satisfying!
For supper I had a leftover grilled chicken breast...DH melted cheddar cheese on top...I'm trying to stay away from cheese...but it was good. I had coffee with diet swiss miss hot chocolate mixed in...
Feeling satisfied...It will be nice to go back to work MOnday with carbs flushed out ...not all puffed up.

I ate two sausage balls last night and two bowls of taco soup (beans, corn tomatoes & beef)...but no chips or sweets so I'm calling the night a success! I stayed away from the scale this morning and plan to eat meat & veggies today...

Glad to be on the straight and narrow food-wise and I hope I can remember how bad it feels after a jump into carb land...

Woke up with terrible headache...and a weight gain of 3 or 4 pounds. There are signs of ovulation...so I'm attributing headache and gain to hormonal stuff going on...

I ate really clean yesterday and I'm thankful for no sugar/carb cravings.

I'm 46 so these headaches I'm thinking are part of the "change"--thankfully no hot flashes.

I do pretty much weigh every day but I don't stress too much about crazy fluctuations...

Kudos to me...I was given a fancy snack pack with cheese straws, lemon straws, fancy shortbread cookies etc...I passed it on to someone else today.

In my history of trying to lose weight...a BIG downfall for me can be...PIZZA!

Typical of me... "oh, the kids didn't eat all of their pizza...I'll just eat the toppings...oh dear...a little of the crust is stuck to the toppings...I'll just have a bit of crust..." and I bet you can guess the rest!

Today I took the boys out for pizza...no pizza/toppings/crust for me! And I didn't feel deprived! That is huge for me!

Lord, help me remember how good it feels to be in control!

You for you Becky on the pizza control! I could eat a whole pizza all by myself!!!!! I actually found a good substitute for pizza: Frozen Jimmy Dean Turkey Sausage Pattie, a little Ragu Pizza Sauce smeared on top, a sprinkle of shredded Parm....heat it up in the micro and you have a tasty treat!

If I don't see a loss in the morning...i'm going seriously consider doing away with diet swiss miss in my coffee...I have one ever day or so...but I could live without it...

I haven't had a diet in a couple of days...I may try and kick that out too...

I'm still thankful to be in control...

I had blackened redfish & a small salad for lunch and a leftover filet with a can of green beans for supper.

My diet Swiss Miss/coffee is safe...for now...

My lowest weight the whole 2013, I believe was 187...so that's a marker for me...I mainly stayed in the 190's all year.

I'm feeling good about this go round...

I resisted pizza (toppings) again tonight...it was harder to resist...but I'm so glad I did. I ate grilled chicken instead.

I might have a little coffee w/diet swiss miss mixed in and call it a night.

Reading Dr. Eades latest blog greatly encouraged me--- he posts several very helpful informative articles he's written about the LC way. The one that spoke to me most was dealing with the fact that we tend to sacrifice for others-friends, family, employees, etc-// we'll go out of our way to do a favor or please-- we should be willing to do the same for ourselves... Great article!

I fasted for almost 48 hours (spiritual reasons) I just didn't have what it takes to go the 3 days I wanted to. I broke the fast at Crackerbarrel-- grilled fish & green beans... So yummy! The server set a biscuit & cornbread before me--and I was GREATLY tempted! So glad I resisted!!!

I have the remind myself how good it feels -later- to resist temptation!

I'm hanging in there! I woke up to a nice loss this morning...

went out to eat with DH & a couple of friends...I had grilled mahi mahi (without the mango sauce it came with) and kale..I've never had kale before...I only recently heard of it. I may have to look into that...

I have this feeling of dread that the scale will not be as kind tomorrow...the kale was so salty...but I have to no let the scale determine how I feel. Overall--I'm getting healthier and losing...In times past it's usually when I've lost about 20 pounds that people start saying, "have you lost weight?!?!"--- That is fun! I have a ways to go...but I'm headed in that direction.

187! What a great surprise! I thought I might see a gain after eating out. I wonder if garlic is a weightloss aid? There was so much on that kale...

THank you Garden! Kale is very new to me...how do you prepare yours? What I ate last night was cooked much like turnip greens...but I've seen references to "kale chips" where they are dry and crunchy...

Man, it feels good to be in control. I can eat a portion of meat and be completely satisfied! (I eat a very generous portion!)

We went to the mexican place last night (we eat out a lot) -- no chips for me--I didn't eve want them. I ordered a 14 oz t-bone...it was a very thin cut of meat...but very good...I spread the sour cream, lettuce & guacamole on top...I left the rice and refried beans all alone!

Two people said they could tell I've lost some weight. (My face really blimps out when I get up in pounds...

It just feels so nice to be satisfied...my energy level is better than it's been in a while. I haven't had a diet coke in almost a week...I think I may be done with them...

Meat - (fish, chicken, steak)
Veggies - (non starchy)
Good healthy fats

That seems to be my recipe for success right now!

Of course I've been around the LC block enough times to know the highs and lows...and how a temptation can jump in completely from out of nowhere...and how blindsided I can be...

I guess a major test will be as my next TOM rolls around...making it through hormonal swings isn't always as easy...

But for now I feel great!

My original "Stay Away from" list...

NO peanut butter
NO nuts
NO yogurt
NO breads & sugars
NO bars (Quest, atkins, etc)

Let me add two more items...
NO Pizza toppings
NO Spray whipped cream

I know pizza toppings are legal...but it's just way to tempting for me to eat that yuumy addictive crust! At pizza places, I'll just order wings and/or salad.

Spray whipped cream is a nice treat on top of coffee...but it leads to me spraying a bowlful...and another bowlful...I lose control.

I've got to learn to stay in control...and it's nice to be aware of those things that make me lose control...
