Feeling encouraged this morning.

Down to 182 and BP was 110/76 even though I forgot my pill yesterday.

Juice is still nasty...I think it is maybe the beet greens I'm disliking. Will try a batch without them later.

I always tried not to mix too many things so I could see what I liked and what I didn't.

And it probably is the beet greens- they taste like dirt. Dirt that has had dirty feet in it. Blech.

That is fabulous news about your BP and weight.

Jumped on the scale first thing this morning in anticipation of seeing more weight loss, and was firmly smacked in the face...UP a tenth of a pound.

I KNOW in my head that a tenth of a pound is nothing, that my body is adjusting, etc., but I was bummed for a bit about it.

I realized that I needed to step back and think to clear my head. Why am I doing this juice fast?

Well, to lose weight, of course.

But what scared me in to doing it in the first place?

My health.

So I had a little mental talk with myself and am going to try not to jump on the scale every morning. I'm going to proceed with the fast and putting healthy micronutrients into my body. Continue to give my body a rest and respite from all the processed carbage that got me here.

OK, I have my head back on straight now. How stupid to let a TENTH of a pound affect me like that...crazy!

Those ounces get me too! I'm always getting discouraged when I see them!

You're doing really great! Still don't think I could do 60 days of just juice (though I have no trouble not eating every other day! lol!)

I did this last year and lost 20# in a month, and felt good while doing it. I followed the recipes on Joe Cross's website as I thought it important I get a variety of macronutrients. I also made up one concoction that I really liked that I called "tossed salad". Basically juiced anything that would go into a salad and added a small amount of Braggs cider vinegar.
Be careful of the beets. No more than 1/2 a day of raw beet or you might have a reaction. The inside of my mouth and my lips started tingling and I realized I'd overdone it on beets.
Good luck in your journey. I might be starting again in a couple of weeks, but I need to get my head wrapped around this again.

I detailed parts of my juicing journey on this thread: does anyone juice???

Scale is down another pound.

So much for not weighing every day.

This morning I made a yummy juice, designed (in my head) to be like V-8. It turned out a funny brown color, and nothing like V-8, but it was pretty good. It had three roma tomatoes, half a cucumber, parsley, two green onions (whole thing), three celery stalks, two carrots, and a clove of garlic. Pretty tasty!

Down another pound today, to 178.4.

I have decided to get as many colors as I can, but I'm not doing beet greens ever again...improved my days immensely!!

I have to say yes, but I did end up eating solid food last night. I taught yesterday (wasn't at home), couldn't have open access to my juices throughout the day, and fell off the wagon last night. Funny thing is, I am right back on and I've never done that before...EVER.

I feel better on the juice.

Last night I was so hungry from the day, so I had a small can of tomato sauce (no sauce added) thinned with a little water with some garlic salt added, heated as a soup.

But after that is where I went a little nuts. I had a big scoop of natural peanut butter right off the spoon, some French fried onions (the dry ones in the bag that go in green bean casserole), and some biscuit mix microwaved in a cereal bowl (instead of actually being formed into biscuits).

Then I got a hold of myself. Let me tell you, it was so weird seeing a bowl and spoon in my sink...has not been one there in ages!!!

This morning I am up a pound...deservedly so...and looking forward to my morning juice. (I always have my k-cup of coffee with stevia first in the morning).

The fact is, I feel great on the juice only days and the weight is falling off consistently.

I do have a concern, though, now that school is back in session. On days I sub, and on my long day on campus, I need a way to have my juice along with me. This isn't like when you eat solid food and can go 6 hours or so without nourishment, at least not for me.

Maybe I can start carrying it iced in a thermos. (I'll need a bigger purse!) But I am committed to eating this way at least into the next few weeks. When I started I was not sure how long I could go, but I know right now that this is not the end.

Made some really tasty juices today...so glad to know that beet greens are "of the debbil!", lol. I drank/chugged so many horrid juices at the beginning. (Though I read or heard somewhere...perhaps Dr. Oz, that beet greens are tasty when cooked. I'll try that once I stop juicing as my only food source.)

The ones I liked today (posting so I can come back in and look them up) were a plain tomato, one that had cucumber, orange, romaine, celery, spinach, and lime, and one that had spinach, celery, lime, cucumber, parsley, kale, and tomato. I actually like my juices now.

Weird thing about Dr. Oz. He did a show in 2012, I believe, about juicing. He was such a fan, it was so wonderful, blah, blah, blah. Then last night I was on You Tube and he had done one later called "Juiceorexia" where a lady had done it for seven months, he told her it could waste away her heart, etc. Now I don't plan to use it as my sole nutrition for seven months at a time...ever...but I didn't like how on one show it was good and on one show it was dangerous. Ok, rant over. In his defense, a lot of time had passed between the two shows, so maybe he had legitimately changed his professional opinion.

I know it is good for me right now. I know I have more energy and feel better. I am sleeping better, which for me is HUGE. I have had insomnia for nine years. The liquid magnesium helped some, and so has the juicing. I still wake up throughout each night, but I get back to sleep more quickly, feel sleepy in the middle of the night rather than alert, and I am remembering bits of dreams, which I have not been able to do for YEARS.

ETA: I am also walking the stairs in my house. I was only able to do three up/downs at a time when I started. Pitiful, I know. But today I did seven for the first time...felt pretty awesome!

On the days you work you could put your juice in one of those water bottles with the straw hooked to a mouthpiece that folds down (I hope that makes sense). If you get a dark-colored one no one would know what is inside. Or a Kleen Kanteen with a sipper lid. Everyone walks around with a water bottle these days, no one would think anything of it.

I honestly wouldn't give two hoots about what Dr Oz says, but you could add protein powder to a juice or two if you are worried. They make vegan ones if you want to stay on plants only.

Thanks, GME.

I don't have one that you can't see through yet, but today I put it in a blue clear one for work. It is hard to tell, well...WHAT is is, lol! (But it doesn't look too appetizing.)

I'm going to try to gulp a few sips today between class periods if I get the chance, or on a potty break. These are multiple disability kids with autism, teens...not like I can leave them when I need a drink.

Scale got back at me this morning for Monday night...181!!!! I'm not changing it over there (<------) yet. I ate completely clean yesterday, so I will see what it says tomorrow morning before I change it again.

Happily back to 178.4 this morning, where I was before eating some solid foods Monday night.

Subbing this week is working out ok because with this campus I have time to run home at lunch and drink my juice.

Feeling good, my head is clear, and I'm enjoying my eating plan.

I started juicing last week. The first few days are the HARDEST lol. I found that making a veggie soup of broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms and onion which I then stuck in the blender to have once a day helped with the need to eat. What I also did, since my BF and I are both doing it, was juiced enough for about 2 days and used mason jars. I labeled the top of each jar what type of juice was in it and it made it easier to take on the go and to work since I can’t bring the juicer with me. Good luck with you journey!!!

OIC, I thought about veggie soup or broth, too, on the night I had the diluted tomato sauce as "soup", but after that I couldn't stop eating. I'm just not strong enough yet. I will have to make some juice ahead tonight for tomorrow...don't think I have any mason jars. But I am working at the Special Olympics tomorrow and won't be getting a lunch break.

Sirtain, thanks for saying that. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I am just trying to figure it out for myself day by day. I wasn't sure I could make it 60 days, but at this point I am hopeful that I can. Not gonna lie, a meal sounds wonderful right about now...but I know it is too soon and I feel I would just binge.

OIC, your idea got stuck in my head, lol!

Currently boiling carrots, and onion, kale, and parsley into a soup. And so looking forward to it! Nothing starchy...no corn, rice, or potato, so hopefully negligible calorie count.

srsmom I used the recipe for soup that Joe has on his reboot with joe website. Also I got the mason jars from Target. I think they were 12 - 16oz jars for around $8.69. Not a bad deal and we use them over and over. I even put the soup in there to make it easier for grabbing for dinner or lunch whenever I am having it.

It definitely set off something in me. I had one mug, then another. Then moved on again to a big scoop of peanut butter off of the spoon and a couple of spoonfuls of marinara sauce right out of the jar.

At this point I'm beginning to wonder if I will EVER be able to eat normally again. I have been yo-yo dieting for my entire adult life, and I'm tired of the merry go round.

But as I leaned over this morning to put on my socks and felt uncomfortable (like it is every morning), I knew in my heart to continue the juicing.

Still plugging along, but not on just juice. I make veggie soup now and always have it on hand...veggies sauteed in a little olive oil, spices, and water. I have that in addition to juice.

Today I was on campus nine hours and did not pack a lunch...not wise. but I stayed on plan. Between classes one time I had a V-8 and a water bottle, and between the next two classes I bought a bottle of orange juice (100 percent juice) and a water bottle. Tomorrow I will plan better.

Yes, it definitely put me in a downward spiral of sorts. I'm still doing juice and veggie soup every day, but have added in diet soda, some whole wheat pasta, fiber one cereal with light soy milk, and coconut creamer in my coffee. All vegetarian items, and I am gaining/losing the same pounds over and over.

I feel well, have energy, and am up to nine times up and down my stairs at a time (instead of three like when I started December 27th). So all is not lost, but I am not losing like I would like, and like I was on 100 percent juice.
