New Journal! New Home! :jumpjoy:

I can't believe I'm starting #3 and still around to tell the tale!

Grab some space, buckle up & get comfy.....it could prove to be a very bumpy (but enjoyable) ride.

DesertGurl 11-20-2013 07:08 AM

To recap:

I began doing Chris Powell's carb cycling program on 9/16/13 in the hopes that I could finally see my journey of good health and weight loss through. I admit, I was somewhat skeptical that this would work, or that I'd even be able to stick with the demands this program calls for. I had tried what felt like everything, only to end up feeling like a failure. I decided that I would give my whole heart to this, really listen to the words written in his book, and like he says, "trust him, trust the process" --- SO FAR SO GOOD! Best decision I could have ever made. I love the way I feel. I love the way I get to eat. Most of all, I love the total transformation that is happening inside & out!

Happy Wednesday, friend!

Yes, it's the Jawbone.

Good news, though! I ended up having to do a hard reset on it and it seems to finally be working. So strange too because it refused to light up at all with the other things they had me doing...but whatever! All I care about is that it's working

Today I hit my first 20 lbs lost. So happy! It was virtually painless, and I don't feel like I struggled or ever felt deprived. What a great way to live!

Overcast and cool today. My kinda day! :)

Dani, you are doing great with your weight loss! Congratulations. I love the support and compliments coming from your DH. He clearly loves you! If you have TOM, please take it easy. I had it last week and you feel weaker with TOM while dieting. Take naps, take it easy, have a nice cup of tea, get a massage or a mani/pedi. We need those nice relaxing things because TOM is really rough on the body.

Gail, thank you! He really is a doll and totally crazy about me :D
Yanno, I'm so over this whole TOM thing..meh! Who needs it anymore!?! Not me!

Love this. Congrats! So happy for you! :high5:

and congrats on journal #3!!! I was so confused for a second there, I kept checking the dates!

Jayce 11-20-2013 07:44 AM

Congrats on your 20 lbs lost! Go, Dani -- *insert booty dance here*

Glad your Jawbone started working again!

LoCarbGal 11-20-2013 08:03 AM

:jumpjoy::jumpjoy::jumpjoy: 20 pounds celebration!!! :jumpjoy::jumpjoy::jumpjoy:

I'm just delighted for you D! If I wasn't so in love with JUDDD, I'd seriously want to try your plan. It really does make a lot of sense, and I do respect Chris' knowledge and experience.

Great idea to start a new journal. I've been thinking about journaling my last 40 pounds, but something keeps stopping me from just starting it. Not sure why. But I'm sure glad you are keeping up with yours.

Blonde with a Rose 11-20-2013 08:34 AM

Congrats all around...your 20lb loss, your new jeans, your new 3rd journal and your fantastic attitude!:high5::hugs::love:

Re the TOM...I think 44 is way to young to be experiencing menopause. I do know there is a test you can get that will track your hormones and let you know if you are entering menopause...now peri-menopause, is a whole 'nother story.

Love the title of your new journal, and I'm thrilled and honored to follow you all the way through this one and into the next....

DesertGurl 11-20-2013 10:45 AM

First of all, thank you girls. I truly could not have gone this far without the support system that I have here.

I'm so jealous that JUDDD has worked so well for you...it truly would have been much easier on me if I coulda made it work ;) I love me some Chris--if I could know that I wouldn't end up in jail, I'd give that man a big fat kiss!
....but I don't look good in big horizontal stripes, nor do I want bologna sandwiches & pink sandals...and I have an affinity to pee alone & not in front of the world..so I keep my urge to smooch that cute lil man to myself :hyst:

I didn't actually want to start a new journal....the powers that be informed me that my other one was getting too big ;)

Thank you so much! There is no one I'd rather travel this journey with than you! *sigh* yes, TOM... I don't think I'm really headed into meno...but I strongly suspect it has everything to do with early peri-meno stemming from my tubal.. craziness, I tell you. I'm trying not to panic yet, but good Lord already...3x in a month...REALLY?? :annoyed:

Seabreezes 11-20-2013 06:29 PM

Yay on the 20 pound loss. That is fantastic. And yes....you are too young to be having the problems you are having. Hope you can find a solution.

:hugs:

Jayce 11-21-2013 04:59 AM

If we ever meet up, I promise to throw in a booty dance! LOL. ;)

Happy Thursday, Dani! How ya doing this fine morning??

Blonde with a Rose 11-21-2013 06:36 AM

Good Morning Danielle!

Happy Thursday!

I can't think of anything I'd rather do...than NOT go-to-jail. Kissing celebrities aside, I think the diet is rather starchy and high carb in the big house...:hyst:

Hope you have a great day kiddo!

Me either! ...definitely don't want the food around here...Sheriff Joe really cracks the whip round here! :hyst: Nor do I wanna be picking up trash on the side of the road chained to some buff chick named Betsy..

Funny, the only one I get the urge to wanna kiss is CP..something about that smile of his! Plus, I just would wanna thank him for giving me some hope here. Right now he's busy being a new daddy---his wife finally had her baby a couple days ago....what a beauty that lil girl is already! I guess I need to leave the smoochin to his better half so I can stay out of the court system, huh?
------------------------
Scale bounced up a pound. I'm sure it's salt.. kinda salty yesterday..yes, my mood AND my food.

Supposed to rain today thru the weekend...YESSSSS! Now the only bad thing about this is people here act like there's 12 ft of snow on the ground when it rains. :annoyed:

Counting down the days until the boy comes home. It's only an overnight visit, but I haven't seen him for months because he's been so busy with his band. What REALLY ticks me off????? Both of my girls will be working ON Thanksgiving. Retail BITES! :annoyed:

That sucks! Retail does BITE! Enjoy your visit with the boy.....:D

Sometimes I call my son 'boy' in the Homer Simpson voice...it always makes him laugh.

DesertGurl 11-21-2013 07:32 AM

In our case, DS truly is THE boy.... the ONLY boy... my sister has 3 girls and then my 2 girls..and no other grandkids yet.... so he's it. Talk about SPOILED with the family! Sheesh! ;)

I used to work retail for many years but back then we didn't do all this craziness of holiday openings.... I think the worst one I had to work was just a few years ago at Kohl's...we opened at 4am so I had to be at work by 3:30.. got there to a LINE of people wrapped around the building. Really? You really gotta be here at 12am to wait in line for 400thread-count sheets that you *think* we have in stock? But this opening at 8pm, etc ON t-day....NO NO NO! :venting:

Jayce 11-21-2013 07:52 AM

Yea, I disagree with stores being open on Thanksgiving...I feel like some things should be "sacred," as in companies should prioritize family time & remove outside distractions (GASP, even the almighty dollar!).

lexiann21 11-21-2013 09:37 AM

i NEVER do that black friday shopping crap! no thank you!

lexiann21 11-21-2013 09:38 AM

sorry not to offend those that do :)

dipgal 11-21-2013 09:48 AM

YAY for you!

Looking forward to following you over here and witnessing your next 20!!! You go girl!

I was in retail in the late 70's and the early 80's.. I thought it was horrible then... I couldn't possibly handle it now.

I am not much of a shopper either, so believe the entire Black Friday thing is nuts. I let my fingers on my keyboard do the walking!

DesertGurl 11-21-2013 10:05 AM

When the kids were really little we used to go out in the craziness for the "it" stuff for them... it was kinda fun. We'd leave the kids overnight on T-day w/ my MIL and DH and I would spend the early morning/afternoon on Black Friday together.. Now they're much older and there isn't much need to do most of that anymore.. However, for DD17 there is some stuff that is going 1/2 off (unheard of for this store) the wee hours of Black Friday so I'll prolly be there for a bit.. I don't plan to shop anywhere else on that day at all..
I do most of my shopping online...so nice!

Judy--It wasn't too too bad when I had to do it a couple years ago...but then, I was running my own dept. and what I said went :D... sometimes it's nice being the boss of something

lexiann21 11-21-2013 10:17 AM

Yup i buy everything online! i'm actually already done lol

DesertGurl 11-21-2013 10:31 AM

Go Lexi! Go Lexi! :kicking:

While I do prefer doing most of my shopping online, there's something about personally being out and about...I like it for short periods of time. My most fave thing to do is to be able to sit & people watch...so interesting!

lexiann21 11-21-2013 10:42 AM

i know, im glad not to have to stress over it!

i love people watching!

Just came across your journal, thinking of starting this plan-- are your first two journals still available to read?

AsmallerME 11-21-2013 01:26 PM

Hi Danielle!! Loving how low your weigh is getting. I hear you on being salty. I feel that way today!! ;)

Hi! Well, my last one is definitely around because it just got closed yesterday...as for the first one I have no idea.. to be honest it has nothing whatsoever to do with this plan, and most of my last one doesn't either except for the last couple months...
LMK if you decide to try the plan, I feel like a loner around these parts!

Hey beautiful! My scale is gonna play some games this week, apparently..:p Guess we're gonna play a game of chicken, but I do not intend on losing! Yeah, salty. I'm so glad someone is feelin me on this! I dunno wth my issue is lately, but man I could cut a B! :hyst: Doing my best to stay off the roads and out of public places because my mood is just embarrassingly horrendous.

DesertGurl 11-21-2013 05:31 PM

Came verrrrrrryyyy close to cheating today. Not quite sure what got into me, or why I even felt the urge. :dunno: Had to go to the grocery and all of a sudden I felt myself justifying things...oh just this one time...this little thing won't affect anything. Spent the drive pondering what I should get..... Seriously? WHAT?

.....suffice it to say, I escaped with only what I came for, leaving all the bad-for-me-stuff behind... I feel like I dodged a huge bullet.. I probably looked like a crazy lady zooming around the store in a hurry to grab what I needed and bolt out of there :hyst:

Honestly, hours later and I'm still scratching my head over it. By the time I'd gotten home the urge had totally passed and I was fine..

Weirdorama!

Jayce 11-22-2013 05:28 AM

Hey chica! Happy Friday!

Well good for you avoiding the temptation! The grocery store presents a challenge sometimes, most definitely!

I love that quote you posted above, btw...very true! I think we're all proving we have the "gumption" to continue. ;)
