You're so right! I'm gonna dance a freakin jig when I see 22X-somethin on that dang scale! LOL

I am so lost on the shopping front...only person who has been a breeze is DD17....DS, DD19 and DH...not a flippin clue DS and DH are extremely picky so this is adding to my stress alittle bit

Wow...bet you can taste those 220's. You're doing great! Don't sweat the reward day....think when we've yo/yo'd our whole lives our bodies need to know we're not starving ourselves. When I did JUDD, oddly enough I would lose more after an UD than a DD. You're working the program and it's certainly working for you!!

That's interesting on how VLC can mess up your metabolism. I didn't realize that. I have read books that have said that some good carbs (like in paleo carbs - sweet potatoes and winter squash) are good for us and necessary. But, the Keto guys just blast that theory out of the water. It's so hard to know what to do - except I guess for personal experimentation - which you are doing! I have a hard time with patience - which experimentation needs.

Me too! ....... like today.....
------------

Had a super day with food.. about 1400 cals...max is 1500. 1 gallon of water.
I will be so thankful when this week is over...it's been traumatizing, at best. I will have to make it a super clean day today to see if I can eek out a new low before I hit tomorrow and the extra 1000 cals I'm supposed to have Who ever knew I would dread a reward day! As of today, I'm sitting exactly where I was LAST Friday morning... meh.

Progress...progress....progress.... progress.....

I'm trying to remind myself that I AM doing good things this month...that anything lost this month is good. Then my logical side chimes in with its big mouth--yeah, but I'm not eating anything remotely off plan, all within portions/measured amounts, AND getting in over a gallon of water every day, so wth It's not as if I am having to deal with junk foods, parties, etc...

.....but I digress...

it is what it is and I WILL survive.

Oh Man! Frustration City!

Yes you're so right! How many holidays have we come out of...higher weight, feeling lousy and depressed? This year you are down, all of your hard work is paying off!

To be truthful, I'll be glad when all of the temptations of the season are gone.

What's the big plan for your day?

What's the big plan for your day?
Yep. I'm sitting here sippin on coffee and trying to let this whole thing roll off my back. I KNOW that there is no way I am gaining weight. it is impossible. At the same time, it also causes me to review my menus to see what I am overdoing or maybe not getting enough of to create unharmonious losses.

I was determined to end the year weighing less than where I was at when I started cycling...and I can say without a doubt that I will complete that task. That feels really good! Those goal-setting ideas are tricky little suckers because it makes it easy to lose sight of the bigger picture..

Plans... hmmmm, let's see.... .... part of this morning will be sitting here trying to figure out my new laptop.. DH got me a new one yesterday! However.....Windows 8 is no bueno...
DD17 works tonight and DH will be off at 3... so, I think we'll probably go try and do some quick shopping before she gets home.. OH, and try and get that dang tree!! His impromptu trip to LA threw our plans out of whack..& trying to plan it that the girls are both home at the same time to go all together to pick it out is proving impossible. DD19 finally said, just go get the thing at least so it's here and then we'll figure out when we'll decorate. Given our recent history, I'll be sitting here with a naked tree come Christmas day! ...either that, or I'll end up doing all of it myself. They'd kill me if I did that!

Danielle. What has helped me is keeping an excel spreadsheet, i track my weight only one day a week (friday is my day) every single week. I started doing that in May i think. My weight loss has slowed to the point where it feels like i've been hovering around the same weight FOREVER! Then i take out that spreadsheet and i look back and i see "no you aren't stuck you've been LOSING!!!" For example i took it out and looked back about 12 weeks ago to sept. I weighed in at 206 lbs, i've dropped 10-12 lbs since then, and im perfectly happy and proud of that.

it really helps put things into perspective, helps me look at the big picture and not just they day to day weigh ins. Keeps my head focused and positive. Loss is loss and over time that adds up to big changes. Keep your head up!

Danielle, no one here wants to decorate the tree but me. All the kids have their own tree. DD the Elders tree is magazine worthy, it is so beautiful. DH watches me decorate and will occasionally put something on that's out of reach for me...but he's not into it. Our Christmas lights will go up, probably this weekend and come down New Years Day. He's 'saving' electricity by waiting until two weeks before. I think my neighbors resent our lagging... I went by Bath and Body yesterday and got some of the girls favorite smells...I had a great 20% off coupon and a 'free item' coupon. Woot!

Haven't gotten one thing for the men in my life.....

Thanks Lexi! I do track weekly like that over on another site and it's nice to see the downward trend. I love it! This is why I think I keep going because I pull that up and see that for 12 weeks of cycling I'm down just shy a smidge of 25 lbs.. not too shabby for an old girl who thought she'd never lose a single pound

My girls absolutely love Xmas...all 3 kids love putting up their decorations and this year we're not quite sure what to do with DS's stuff...he won't be here til probably the 21st.. maybe i'll leave his and make the girls leave space for his We don't have a house to do the lights outside...just a patio that I hang some off of so the people from the road can see my Christmas spririt.. Did you see on ABC there's a new series called the Great Christmas Light Fight? Each episode shows 4 families from across the country competing to win $ and get judged by some celebrity designer.. it's really cute!
Omg I love B&BW....get into trouble there ALOT

From your lips to the big Man upstairs! For the life of me I cannot remember where I did all that reading on here about it...there were several people talking about how vlc wreaked havoc on metabolism and thyroid.. I've exhibited some light symptoms of hypo that left me scratching my head, esp when tests don't show much... I just know for ME, the low carb counts no longer work for me in any way.

It's official.....

I cannot wait until this month is OVER...

Like I said earlier this week....my fear going into today (reward day) was to have the scale going into a continual rise upwards...and guess what.....???? Albeit SMALL bumps, but bumps up all the same...

It has been an incredibly strange month so far that there are no words.... .....all I can do is just keep going and hang in there. Anything positive is a good thing & that's ok with me.

Now may be the time before a new cycle begins to ponder the idea of trying Turbo to see if it'll work this time...maybe my body is trying to say something?

I feel your pain! I think what makes it even harder is you're just so darn close to those 220's. But when you look at it...you've lost almost 3lb in two weeks during the hardest holiday (eating wise) season there is. That really is commendable! With my normal eating habits, I could have easily GAINED twice that amount in two weeks in December.

Keep the faith....we're all rooting for you!

RE: VLC causing a drop in metabolism....

I read a report yesterday that compared a 1000 calorie low fat trial with a 1000 calorie Low carb trial. Of the two test groups, the ones on the low fat diet had a 20% reduction in metabolism. The low carb group had a 12% reduction in metabolism.So...anyway, I read that to say 1000 calories is too dang low.

Dani~ Hang in there Chicky, I know it sucks to see the scale inch upward but it's only temporary! I'm pulling for you!

Yes, thank you, Sherrie for reminding me about perspective. I SO could have easily gained another 20 lbs this holiday season because that's just simply what my body likes to do...I still do not understand how I managed to put on about 30 lbs in matter of like 2 months earlier this year

Maybe it was just thyroid stuff that I read then? I just know that after my millionth attempt with vlc my weight along with other issues just started going bonkers... my hair was falling out at an alarming rate
maybe it's all of my many attempts at ultra low calorie prior to low carbing that set me up for the kooky metabolism, who knows?

Dani - you are doing great! Hang in there - as I know you are doing. Quick fixes never worked for us before, did they?

I won't be around much for a few days.. busy all day today and going to Chicago until Monday. If I don't check in, take care, have fun and keep up the good work!

Dani, losing hair is scary as hell! I've heard some things about low carb being not great for people with Hashimotos...but, one of my JUDDD hero's Leo41 lost all of her weight doing LC JUDDD and she had Hashmoto's as well. Her take on it was that was the only thing she could do to lose the weight and still eats LC every day.

I sure won't admit to eating ultra low calorie... I'd be fibbing.

What's for breakfast?
