Tonight was a big step for me. I took a bath. Before you laugh, this has been a big fear for me. Not too long ago, baths were taboo. Matter of fact, it has been SEVERAL years since I have stepped into a bath tub. How I longed to light the scented candles, pour the bath beads into steamy water, relax back with a good book and enjoy the moment. Reality was...the bath would barely be full, maybe a little past my ankle, and I would get in it, and the water would raise all the way up to my breasts. The bath beads would make the tub slick, and being that I was so big, I would struggle and wriggle around to get OUT of the tub. I would take a book in, but being that the water was so little in the tub, it would get cold quickly, and I was so BIG in a small tub (the tub was ALWAYS too small), I was always uncomfortable. The book reading would last maybe one page, and then the process of getting me out of the tub would begin. It was a hassle. I knew that this was not a luxury I was meant to have. I didn't care. Showers were fine. And quicker. And, less embarrassing.

Until tonight. Tonight I took a leap of faith. It is raining and dreary and cold out and I was thinking it would be nice to soak in a hot tub. I literally had to go to the store to buy bath beads. The last box I had got thrown away with the beads being one big chunk in the box, and that was 5 years ago when I moved into this house. Tentatively, I filled the tub to the normal spot, about right at my ankle, and stepped into the tub. The tub didn't seem so small anymore. It seemed just right! And, when I got into the water, it barely raised. I let it keep on streaming in! Lots of warm, comfy water surrounding me, with scented candles all around, and scented bath beads filling my nostrils. And, then the book. I read two whole chapters! And, once I even had to add more hot water to the tub Getting out was a breeze. I just stood up. I didn't wriggle. I didn't slip around and struggle. And now, I am sitting here in warm, comfy pjs, my hands all pruny, feeling pretty darn good! This is such a big deal to me. I am so happy

That is awesome!!!!!!! It is those type of things that are so amazing and make all this struggle to lose weight so satisfying!!! Make a detox bath, 2 c epsom salts, you can buy them at drugstore, 1 c baking soda, and then add some lavender or any oil you have it is good for muscles, and suppose to be good for you! We have a 2 person tub, so we run that about once a week and it is so nice to just chill in there with the candles lit, and relax!!!

So...while I have been still cooperating for the most part on my eating, my stats really haven't changed much. I have to admit, there have been many moments in teh past month where I have tasted this or that...experimented a little bit out of my normal region of carbs. On the plus side, I know that I can do that and not gain any weight or lose progress! Just proving to myself that once I hit goal, I am past the mindset of "continuously eating". This month has been sort of a little test for me. I haven't diligently been posting stats, because the past month has meant more to me than that. It's been about have I overcome my addictions to food. Is my thyroid regulated enough to be okay? I am so proud of the outcome. And, now back down to business...there are goals to be met

Lisa...Your obvious determination and progress is SO inspiring. You must (and should be) very proud of yourself. What a great journey. The bath sounds wonderful.

I'm making the Chan's Special this weekend.

Reading through the recipe, I don't see what you do with the Sesame Oil.

I think it would get "lost" if I just use it to brown the hamburger.

Judy, you saute the meat in the sesame oil. Sorry I left that part out Then, when I add the salt and pepper, I drizzled a little bit on top to "perk" up the flavor. You could always use another oil to saute the meat in that is more substantial, and just perk up the dish with sesame oil too.

It is going to get harder the closer you get to goal, and the weightloss slows, so I think you are wise to focus on non scale victories, and getting used to how you will eat going forward it good, I can honestly say losing the 150 pounds I did seems way easier than keeping it off!!!! It is really hard, I think we always want to kid ourselves that we are normal, and I am not!!!!

You have come a long way!!!

I am so glad Seabreeze told me about you! I am enjoying getting to know you!

Hi Green! I figured I would come return the favor and instead I did myself a favor by reading your journal.
Your post about a bath was very inspiring. I haven't had a real bath...ever. Ok, maybe it just seems like forever. I am sure I had one someday..
Your stats are awesome! I am going to measure myself tomorrow.

I am off to work. I have had the past two days off, and with all the glorious weather here, I was taking advantage of it! Andrew finally got a break from the rain, and was able to play to baseball games this week. The lost both, but he played awesomely

I have no new pics of food to post, and I have a pretty full weekend, but if I make anything spectacular I will definitely post a pic! I did take yet another pic of my new skinny face though

I just bought two of Dana Carpender's books and will be trying out her recipes! I am so excited. Has anyone else just sat down and read a cookbook before? Because that is me lol. I sat down for a good two hours last night after I got home from work, fingering through the hundreds of recipes. I am so excited to try some of these out! I am not big on bread, so really all of the "odd ingredients" that she uses for breads and rolls don't even pertain to me, but I am excited to try the new sides, breakfast ideas, meats, salads, even soups. It will definitely be test kitchen mode for the next few months

Lisa....I have a couple of her books too. Haven't tried any of the recipes yet. Which books do you have? Let us know which ones you try and how you like them. You seem to have a pretty "educated" palate.
