This winter just needs to end! We got an ice storm down here in Virginia. Kids got delayed 2 hours!

You are doing great! One day won't mess you up:-) Your lunch sounds really good!

Today...
B~2 slices of thick bacon, dab of ranch and slice of american deluxe cheese wrapped in lc tortilla
S~cream cheese muffin
L~chicken ball nachos w/ dot of srirachi sauce on each nacho
S~cream cheese muffin
D~1/2 chicken breast shredded, 4 shrimp chopped, tbsp hwc, 1/4 c colby shredded cheese, topped w/1 tsp chili sauce (Just threw a bunch of stuff together), cream cheese muffin

Made new cream cheese muffins today, if you couldn't guess I made these ones just a little different. I am all out of davinci's french vanilla, but have the torani sf vanilla cinnamon I bought a while ago and haven't really used much. So, today I used that instead. Not much of a difference in the taste of the muffins.

Tonight I had to stand my ground with my 18 year old son. We had a huge snow storm hit us last night, but schools were not closed this morning. Both boys got up and got ready for school, and then Andrew told me he wasn't feeling well. He said his stomach was upset. I offered pepto bismol, antacids, he really didn't want to take anything. I let him stay home from school, and let the youngest go on ahead. Andrew slept all day long, not rolling out of bed until 4 p.m.!!! He got up looking groggy, and I was thinking he really was sick and needed the rest. And, then while I am making dinner, he asks when dinner will be done that his friends are picking him up to go hang out. I told him no way. The entire time, Christian, my 11 year old is saying...I knew it. I knew you faked! At this point, Andrew says he is no longer hungry and will spend the evening in his bedroom. I know he is waiting for me to budge and say go ahead, but it isn't happening. I have a plate set up for him when he decides he is hungry. He can heat it up then. Meanwhile, I have an 18 year old pouting in his room. I don't know if he faked or not, but obviously he needed some sleep today. Either way, the rule has always been if you are too sick to go to school, then you are too sick for the whole day. No friends, and no going out.

You are doing great at being a good mommy. I had the same rule for my boy years ago. It won't hurt him a bit. Your cream cheese muffins look great. I just wrote it all down and am going to try them. The cheese ball was great. Judy

He did finally come out of his bedroom and eat dinner. Then watched a little tv and went right back to bed. Good for him. If at 18 years old he thinks he can pout to get his own way, then he needed a wake up call! I personally think it's funny.

Good Job MommaBear!!! You did right Lisa, and so nice of you to set aside some food for later. At least he knew you were right and didn't back talk etc.. I would have ended up having an hour long drawn out rant back and forth when mine was 18. I wouldn't have given in, but he sure would have kept trying to talk me out of it. I can say my ds time away did him good because since he has been back home, we are getting along much better and he now understands why I had the rules I had. Funny how my main rule was I had to meet his friends before he went off with them somewhere and he absolutely hated that idea and wouldn't do so he didn't go many places. Now his gf who graduates this year parents have the same rule and he says he totally understands them wanting to meet him and her friends... I just smile and laugh.

Yay Lisa! You totally did the right thing with Andrew. It is no accident that he is a great kid -- you raised him well -- you raised him to be a strong, decent, smart, kind, responsible person. By the way -- HELLO GORGEOUS! Look at you, skinny and stunning!

I ate a little too much yesterday...I guess making up for a few days ago, when I didn't eat enough!

B~cream cheese muffin, 5 slices of bacon
L~Charlies Chicken teryaki w/mushrooms, tomato, lettuce, mayo, pickle and banana peppers (no bread) at the mall
S~cream cheese muffin
D~2 oz. dreamfields linguine w/lc pasta sauce and 1 spicy italian sausage link, topped w/ parmesan cheese
S~1 tbsp popcorn kernels popped w/1 tbsp butter on top
S~international cafe french vanilla sf
S~8 bbq pork rinds dipped in chicken ball

That's a lot of snacking! ha ha. Hey it is what it is. I couldn't fight the urge to snack last night, but I did it within reason.

Great news I was with my sister picking up my niece from preschool yesterday, when a guy walked up to pick up his son. My sister said, hey, don't you drive a tow truck. He said yes. And, she said my sister could have used you just a few weeks ago, and she went on to tell him how I was stuck and had a hard time finding a wrecker to go get my car at a decent price. He asked what was wrong with the car, and I told him. He came over to my house, about 1 hour after we talked, with his partner and looked at my car! First thing he said was my belt busted (no clue what that is) and that my gasket blew (which I knew). I asked how much they would charge me. He said with the damage done to the car, replacing messed up parts would be around $200. I was like, give it to me straight. How much for you to fix it. He said I would charge you $450 total!! I have called shops and they have all said around $1000 for just the gasket, not anything else. I am so happy right now. He is coming to get my car saturday, and will have it back saturday night!!!! Finally I will have my car back

So glad your car problem seems as though it will be resolved at a reasonable cost. What a fortunate coincidence it was to have run into that fellow when your sister was with you.

And, to echo everyone else, great job of parenting. You absolutely did the right thing! Way to go, Mom!

Yes, I am so excited to finally get the car fixed. Gail, things do seem to fall into place at the right times. Maybe this is the end of the bad streak.

I went out last night for my sister's birthday. I had two glasses of Dry Chardonnay, about 3 carbs per glass. This is the first time that I have had wine since I started lc. It was amazing, and although it was their dryest, still tasted sort of sweet to me! ha ha. That's what happens when you avoid wine for MONTHS. Anyways, I ate well. I don't remember everything that I ate, but I do know I ordered 2 appetizers that were lc. One was marinated mushrooms in garlic and wine served w/ an aioli sauce on the side for dipping. The other was "tipsy shrimp" served in a white wine, garlic, tomato broth. When I got to the party, the appetizers ordered were all VERY high carb. So, I took it upon myself to order two more It was a long day, and a good get together with friends for my sister's birthday. I loved it.

So..yesterday...
B~cream cheese muffin
L~McD's grilled chicken ranch blt without the bun...and then...3 of Christian's chicken mcnuggets w/ ranch
D~spicy italian sausage w/grilled peppers and onions and alfredo sauce on top

Lunch yesterday was not one of my finest points. But, I made a conscientious decision. I wanted the nuggets. I put four aside, ate my lunch first, and then ate the nuggets, and after three decided I didn't really want them anymore. I know it was a bad choice, but considering the options...I think I "contained" it as much as possible.

Unfortunately, today I weigh 172 lbs. The rule of thumb is if you play, you pay. With skipping breakfast earlier this week, having wine, overeating, and then the nuggets yesterday...I was not expecting to be in the same place I was last week. While the wine was good, and definitely a random option for the future, I need to get back on track with consistency in meals and portions. Not having the car this week, I have not really been able to go to the grocery store as much as I often do. I have sort of scrambled to get lc meals together. Thank goodness the car will be fixed by tomorrow at the latest

Don't stress over the minor slip and setback. Not being able to get to the grocery really does limit your options. And it may be that occasional indulgences help keep you on track in the long run. Knowing that now and then we can have a special treat may actually assist in enabling us to consistently follow a healthy diet by reminding us it doesn't always have to be all or nothing. I have been overeating somewhat during the last month (maybe due to it being winter?) and I'm really trying to rein things in now by being more conscientious about portion size and by refraining from having a late afternoon snack and/or glass of wine. I don't know what it is about winter that seems to make me hungry but something has been affecting my eating patterns and not in a good way.
