New Journey, New Journal

Welp! I'm going to do low carb again. For a while, I completely gave up on myself and my diet. I know I need to get myself together. I know eating whole, natural foods is the best way to go about it. So i'm returning to a low carb way of life (but i'm going to try and work on my mind too) I've scheduled a full physical for November 1. Maybe I can drop a few pounds before I get there.

A lot has happened over the years. I lost my mom, got my first nephew, changed jobs a bunch, pursued new heights in my credentialing. And on Thursday we had to put our sweet boy Sammie to sleep. (Very emotional week to say the least, and I ate like a mad woman).

So here I am, day 1. Eating healthier, committing to a exercising. Taking my health into my hands. I did my best (historically) when I stayed on these boards, so I'm back!

Thanks everyone! Not sure how I started a journal and then didn't come back to it.

Things are a little crazy right now. I'm up for a lateral job change at work (which would give me better work ours and a bit of a pay bump). I'm really excited about the possibility and expecting to hear something back this week. (Positive thoughts, vibes and prayers are welcome).

We traveled for work last week. It was fun, but not the best environment for a new (again) low carber. I basically switched to low cals for that time and of course that means I put on some water weight. So, that kinda sucks. But back at it.

I'm planning our summer vaction for 2014 and I want to sit comfortably in the airplane seat (as comfortably as a skinny person can). LOL That's my goal, no magic number, no amount of weight lost, I want to fly comfortably.

I'm also starting my coaching business, which is uber exciting. I should be done with my foundations class in a couple months and I'm already looking forward to putting together my first full on coaching group. I'm taking on some private clients now, which is so neat! So, lots of stuff is going on right now!

Well that's my update. Hopefully, the next doesn't take so long.

Sending positive "job vibes" your way. The coaching business sounds exciting. The airplane seat goal sounds good. (My last plane ride was really miserable)Having a non-scale goal maybe a lot better. (The scale is my frenemy)

Thanks Bec!

Well I accepted the job yesterday!!! Very exciting stuff!! Just two more weeks in my current role and then I start my new one!

Hubby and I are going to join gold's gym express. Its less than 5 mins from our house and fairly cheap, so I hope to get in 3-4 workouts a week. I've recently learned to appreciate the elliptical, but I also want to get back to lifting weights... I am hoping with my pay bump I can get back to barre class a few times a month too. For some reason, exercise is easier for me to commit to than an eating plan. I will get there though, sooner than later.

checked out the gold's gym today. it was so much bigger than I realized. we were gonna sign up today but we would get charged again on the 15, so we were told to wait a couple of days. So glad that's out of the way. I'm gonna get this exercise going and then hopefully the food isn't too far behind.

What an awesome goal!! I hate flying, and when I do, it is usually with a family member who did not mind "sharing" the seat with my big behind! ..

To not spread into the next seat while seated would be a great goal for me too. Although my weight is down from my high, my lower half still is way too big. Good luck Tyl!!!! Especially joining the gym too!!! that is going to make a huge difference. Close by and convenient!

Congrats on taking the job too! You have good things happening for you! I also missed where you got married? WONDERFUL!!

Deb, I've been doing some introspection, and I do best when i'm competitive. Which is interesting. So my thought is I need to challenge myself in some way. Two of my coworkers are doing this 45 day challenge (eat clean, exercise, nothing too difficult) and I enlisted my hubby. So next week, we are taking the big plunge into a "family" challenge in hopes of great results.

Fingers crossed!

It is exciting.

We start 45 days of eating whole foods (we are including fruit and nuts) and exercising on Monday. We went to Costco to purchase our foods and we are so excited!

Tomorrow is our 1 yr wedding anniversary, so we have a nice dinner planned. Here's to a great weekend and great start.

Well reality has set it. 2 things happened: 1. I stepped on the scale and i'm bigger than I've ever been (279.2) yikes! 2. I went to the doctor and my doc is worried about my BS.

So its no longer about what I want, its about being my healthiest self. So here we go. I've been working on my meal planning, re-reading the basics, and its on, TODAY. Not Monday. not tomorrow. but today! so breakfast I had some beef summer sausage, eggs and salsa. I'm about to head to the store for lunch and dinner ingredients.

went shopping. got some staples. baked up a whitecastle pie (mmmmmmmmm) and a chicken and broccoli casserole, so get me going. I'm feeling good and really excited. I'm hoping to be down a good 15 or so lbs before my follow up apt with my doc.

so...
brunch: beef summer sausage, scrambled egg whites, salsa
s: ham and cheese stick roll up
dinner: white castle pie, side salad w balsamic vinaigrette
snack: pickled okras and water

not too bad... onward and downward!

awww thanks honey!!!! I need to start thinking goals.... i'm starting a lot heavier this time, so i'm thinking, my first mini goal will be to get to my previous heaviest (250). Once i'm there we'll figure out the next goal. So 26.6 lbs to go! My other goal (which I get more excited about) is to get back to a size 16. i'm squeezing into an 18 now. So can't wait to get there!!!
