Struggling to Lose Weight

I decided to create a journal as I really need support while losing weight. I've been struggling for the past two years. There are many factors which I believe plays a huge part in my struggle to lose weight. I won't bore you all with the details. However, I'm making necessary changes to get this weight off, starting with my way of eating.

I really don't want to do another round on Atkins, but it seems to be the best WOE for me...so here I am again

Today is Day 1 and I already want to cheat (just keeping it real). I want some sugar so bad, but I'm going to fight to get through this day. Man, withdraw is a mutha! I'm going to be realistic during this journey and not put too much pressure on myself... I have enough stress in my life as is.

Okay, I have to sign off for now. But, I promise to check in daily.

All the best!

Awe, Deb, I can always count on you for support . You're right, when we stay away to long, we do end up falling by the waste side. But, I promise you, I have been trying. It's just been so darn hard!!

I am desperate to get off my BP meds and the only way to do so, is to eat clean and exercise.

I NEED YOU ALL TO HELP ME GET THERE!!

Thanks for the compliment...

I know there is a process when starting Atkins, but I don't think I can get through another Inductions. The feeling of starting another diet is so daunting. I'll just take one day at a time while eating clean. Guess I'll start hitting the track tomorrow too.

My husband is diabetic and wants to go Vegan. Off to do research on his behalf.

There definately is a process when starting any plan, but mostly it is planning to do what you really want to do, and getting your head in the right place. Research, reading blogs, reading posts, watching you tube, anything to help with motivation is what I am trying to do also!

Vegan huh? Yikes, well good luck to the hubby, I know he wants to get healthy, so looking into several options is a good thing. I couldn't go without my meat.. but that is just me.. I wish you both the best and much success on whatever you choose to do. It starts a step at a time, and it starts between the ears...

Exercise!! You go girl, and that can put you in the losing frame of mind. I can so relate to not wanting to start a D I E T! ugh! Just making one good choice a meal is a start.. have a wonderful evening Meek! I am so happy you are back!!

Deb, I agree with everything you said. I'm trying to get motivated which is why I came back here. Girl, I cant do vegan either.... I my meat! My hubs has recently been turned off by meat for some reason. I agree to help him if that's the route he wishes to take.

I've been on leave from work since July, so I have so time to really focus on getting healthy and visiting the gym everyday. We'll see how this goes...

Have a good day.

Oh Awesome!! I love that you have some time to get yourself going. Focus on YOU!!! Wonderful!

Since I have discovered exercise again, I love it, just crave it. It took a while to get to this place, but I am there. Now to get my eating in place and hopefully get the scale to go down! UGH!!

If your hubby is wanting to do Vegan, you are right, help him out, but that doesn't mean you have to do it too..

You can do this!! one baby step at a time!!

Deb!

That's so true, and believe it or not; all I'm doing differently this go round is surrounding myself with positiveness pertaining to living healthy lifestyles. I'm following a few pages on Instagram and they've been very helpful as well. "Preparation is key" Meek, we learned that before.

I'm wishing you well and I'm here to cheer you on. Also, what has helped me is not stressing about it so much. I just eat what I'm allowed to eat and not put much thought into it. I've been more out going; remember this helped us in the past? Our lives should be based off so much more than food.

We CAN and WILL do this!

Good afternoon. The scale scared the mess out of me this morning. Instantly, I wanted to give the protocol another try, but... I can't do that diet successfully, so I'm stick to Atkins.

I'm doing okay today. I keep telling myself that the carb cravings will be gone with at least a week under my belt, so keep pushing!

I gotta start moving my body again as well. Exercise always motivates me to eat clean. I'm screwed without both.

All for now. I'll visit journals this evening. I have loads of homework to do.

Have a great day.

Good Afternoon Meek

I'm not sure if I mentioned that I'm using clothing for measuring purposes and I'm weighing once a month.

It's been working out great, so I don't get discouraged if I see inches loss but the scale says something else.

We just have to keep it moving no matter what and exercising is making all the difference with clarity of mind and helping me when it comes to wanting to eat something I shouldn't

Keep up the good work

Ive been inspired today. I won't get all cocky and talk, talk, talk... my actions will speak volume. I'm on my way ladies. It won't be easy, but I'm going to do it this time.

I remember when I started Atkins in 2004. I wasn't perfect, but I did it and I was able to call goal. My past success is my motivation to do it again

I got this!

Lyn, you are right. I'm staying off the scale. If I don't see a change in my body, I know I'm still fat, lol. I'll weigh at least once a week and use the mirror and my clothes to judge my true weight loss.

This is exciting. Looking forward to becoming healthy again

Hello. Just checking in. My first successful day at low-carbing paid off. I woke up feeling lighter than yday, so I decided to take a peek at the scale (I know... ) and to my surprise, it moved in the right direction. I'm happy. Looking forward to today. I'll be out and about most of the day which is good. I missed breakfast so I'm having some pan fried wings and cucumbers for lunch. Yummy, my favorite. Juicy bacon cheeseburgers wrapped in lettuce heads for dinner

It's Friday, so let's celebrate by eating good and moving our bodies

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Saturday Night Dinner (9/14)

Our Version of Outback’s Alice Springs Chicken

Honey Mustard Marinade:
1 c. Grey Poupon Dijon mustard
1 c. honey
1/2 c. mayonnaise
1 tsp. lemon juice
Chicken:
4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 c. sliced mushrooms (10?12 mushrooms)
2 Tbsp. butter
salt and pepper
paprika
8 slices bacon, cooked
1 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
2 tsp. finely chopped fresh parsley
Instructions

Use an electric mixer to combine the mustard, honey, mayonnaise, and lemon juice in a small bowl. Whip the mixture for about 30 seconds. Place chicken in a Ziploc bag and pour in about 1/3 of the marinade. Seal the bag and press out as much air as you can and marinate in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
Chill the remaining marinade until later. After the chicken has marinated, remove chicken from bag and discard the marinade that it has been soaking in. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and heat an ovenproof frying pan large enough to hold all four breasts and 1 Tbsp. oil over medium heat. (If you don't have an ovenproof frying pan, transfer the chicken to a baking dish).
Sear the chicken in the pan for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown. Remove pan from heat but keep chicken in the pan. As the chicken is cooking, in a small frying pan saute the mushrooms in the butter. Brush each seared chicken breast with a little of the honey mustard marinade being sure to save a little extra that you can serve on the side later with the dish.
Season the chicken with salt, pepper and paprika ( I am usually pretty generous with the paprika, I love the flavor). Stack two pieces of cooked bacon, crosswise on each chicken breast. Spoon the sauteed mushrooms onto the bacon, being sure to coat each breast evenly. Sprinkle 1/4 cup Monterey Jack cheese evenly onto each breast followed by 1/4 cup of cheddar.
Bake the pan of prepared chicken breasts for 7-10 minutes or until cheese is thoroughly melted and starting to bubble. Sprinkle each breast with 1/2 teaspoon parsley before serving. Put extra honey mustard marinade into a small bowl to serve on the side.

Happy Tuesday. Deb. Yesterday was the worse day ever in my area due to the shooting at the Navy Yard. I had a family member there at the time, but he is okay. Pray for the victims and their families, please.

ION: Eating is going well; still suffering from anxiety, depression, and my mood is up and down. I have meds, but I'm afraid to take stimulants so I'm looking into alternatives for treatment.

I know exercise will increase my serotonin levels naturally, but if one is too depressed to leave the house to exercise, then.... I'll get there again one day though as in the past I was so HAPPY when I was exercising daily. My mood was calm and folks around me could definitely tell a difference in my behavior. I can't wait to get back there again.

Weight Check: Down 2 pounds since my last weigh-in

Okay, gotta go. I will check journals later this evening. Have a good day.

I'm so happy to hear that you are headed in the right direction.

One step at a time is the best way to look at it and also remembering that you were successful at this before, and you can and will do it again! I believe in Us .

Thanks for posting that recipe, it looks delicious.

Oh no, it must have been miserable not knowing if your family member was ok, glad to read that he is. It's very sad, all the deaths and others impacted. They will never be the same. I was driving in D.C. on my way to work and I knew something was wrong because they blocked streets and cut traffic off so that police cars could move through quickly. Every minute I heard/saw a police vehicle speeding towards SE...it was later that I found out why. Yes, continued prayers is needed.

I agree with the other posters, take it one day at a time. I too thank you for the recipe...I love Outback's Alice Springs chicken

Hi Ladies. Just popping in really quick. I have some much going on. Family, school, and I'm returning to work in a week I'm still in a funk, but I need my coins, so I have to do what I gotta do!

Still no exercise I have to start moving this body again, and quick!

I hope you all are having a good weekend. I'll check journals when I get some time. I have a paper to write before midnight.
