Over40 Returns
Well, I guess I need to dig in and pick a hill to "die on".

My weight is kreeping up. From the end of January to the beginning of August I pounded out a version of Ashtanga yoga 3-4 days a week, did not over eat, and still shot to two hundred pounds. I even was able to do the advanced workout. During a trip to the coast my brother let me know I looked like a fat middle aged guy. I let him know I was fat, and middle aged.

On top of that, the post yoga workouts were causing superior back pain. By mid August I was visiting a sports med doctor and seeing a PT. The PT had me doing some similar moves that were found in the yoga. Fortunately he has a line of Nautilus Nitro machines, including the back extension. So, now, I am doing a weekly Slow Burn/Power of 10/Body by Science workout. My back feels much better, and overall I am getting stronger.

My current issue is barely being able to function after eating a meal or snack if it is not low carb. Last week I snacked on a Snickers bar and it almost put me out. Even driving through Nevada/Idaho I ate an apple and nectarine and had to pull over.

I am off again, to try to remedy the issue. I don't want insulin shots, and I certainly don't want to pass out while driving like I have almost done.

I plan on following Atkins 72, and performing a once weekly SuperSlow style workout.

Good luck with all that! I have to say though, insulin is a wonderful help, and just having it to take occasionally when you have a problem might be a good thing!

It's so easy and relatively painless with the new insulin pens. you just dial the number of units and you're good to go. the painful part is pricking to test your blood sugar, and you are already doing that.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions.

Breakfast: eggs, sausage, 1/2 slice of sourdough

Lunch: cheese slices, ham slices, salad w/ bleu cheese, three Triskets.

Dinner: two chicken thighs, tomato, cucumber

Snack: Atkins bar
