So after a successful first day i thought I best write my thoughts down to myself.

I have always been fat. Fat kid. Chubby teenager (who thought she was fatter than she was) Fat adult who turned into an obese adult. I know that alot of my issues stem from sexual abuse as a child. I understand that the need to hide myself behind fat comes from that, or it did, originally.

These days it's more about a mix of being lazy and physically feeling like I can't walk/do exercise and then just letting depression take hold.

My wakeup call came from my best friend dying.

She had always been obese from the time I met her, but she topped the scales at 330 pounds before she had a gastric bypass. The first year after it, she lost nothing as she didn't go back to have it adjusted. Then she met a man online in second life and became obsessed.

The weight started to drop off, she had the bag inside her inflated to the point that she couldn't drink water properly and was chewing her meat spitting it out because she couldn't swallow it. Still, she had gotten down to 226 pounds. Which was alot less than I weighed.

I will admit jealousy kicked in and I envied her. I wanted to have "an easy out" (I understand that the surgery isn't easy but we aren't logical when we are jealous).
The telephone call I received was unexpected, and it shocked me.

She had died from a heart-attack while sitting on skype with her "online boyfriend". The autopsy said her arteries were clogged with fat.

This scared me... A lot. This was also 6 months ago.

In that time I have gained another 15 pounds. I woke up today and realized I needed to stop eating myself to an early death or I will leave behind two beautiful children like she did.

I know it won't be easy. I know I will likely fall along the way.. I need to do it though.

For my sake.. and in memory of Felicity.

I seem to be feeling better, I have a lot more energy and that feeling of bloat is gone which is wonderful. I am aware that I need to be wary of the slowdown in weight loss which is going to occur and not let it bother me and just keep plugging away.

I can't wait till my jeans are able to fit again comfortable and I feel like I have enough energy to exercise. I know it might be a cop out or an excuse but I really don't feel like I can exercise well until I've lost 20 pounds or so due to the stress which it puts on my feet (Plantar fascia and the continual pain I feel in my right foot at the achilles tendon and heel area).

Seems so long ago that I started this. I find it sad that despite my motivation I failed again in 2013.

2014. Has been so much better. Something clicked in January and I started back and I'm still on my eating plan and it's May and I am down 33 pounds!
