Gracie~I can't remember, did you opt to not find out Erin's gender or would she not cooperate at the sono? My sono is at my next appt in 5wks but we are going to be surprised this time and wait. I am feeling girl though but I don't know if that's just wishful thinking.

I had my OB appt today and I talked to him about my fasting numbers. He said it's a hormonal reaction with the placenta and some women require nighttime insulin only if their only high readings are the fasting ones. I don't understand how nothing I do eating-wise changes those fasting numbers! If I eat low carb, doesn't it make sense that the insulin wouldn't surge in the morning? I have been reading on dawn phenomenon but don't know how much does/doesn't apply to GD. He also said they want fasting numbers to be in the low 80s in pregnancy, when non-pregnant anything under 100 is okay. So confusing! At any rate, looks like I am likely headed for nighttime insulin, which sucks but it beats having another 11 pound baby.

Hi Katy! We opted to not find out with Erin. We already had a boy and a girl and thought it would be fun not knowing. I really enjoyed not knowing the whole time - it was always a conversation waiting to happen! Everyone always had their opinion on what it was. Everybody at my shower thought it was a boy except for two people! My BFF and my sister in law both said girl. I was very surprised because I really thought it was a boy too - I wasn't sick and had a pretty good pregnancy. With Gracie I was sick for 5 months and I though it had to do with her hormones combined with mine. Apparently, not the case

I agree, do what your doctor says. No 11 pound babies! YIKES

Hi Katy. I have no input about the fasting glucose numbers or any of that. I was tested twice during my pregnancy for GD and passed both times. But never got any readings or anything. It does seem weird that eating LC wouldn't bring those numbers down some though. It does for non-pregnant women most of the time, right?

I found out a friend is pregnant with a girl and I'm super excited. Maybe cause I have a boy, but the idea of lots of pink and ruffles sounds fun!!

How are you feeling in general? Have you been maintaining your weight so far?

Amber I am so happy you are back!

I am feeling great now, in the bliss of the 2nd tri! My weight is down a few pounds, I was 225.0 this morning. My doctor wants me to gain 20-25 which I think is INSANE.

Yay for 2nd tri bliss!!! That's awesome! And that's really great about your weight. Mine wanted me to gain about 20 and I thought I could maintain. Yeah right. I gained 40. So the fact that you are 1/3 done and maintaining is already a win in my book!!

Do your kids know that you are a pregnant? How are they reacting?

I always gained more than 20-25 and it all seemed to come on in the last trimeseter. But if I remember correctly I would lose like 20 pounds in the first week or two after delivery - probably baby, placenta, fluids....

I think you are doing fantastic!

Yes, the kids are very excited. Chloe wants the baby to be a girl and be named Cinderella. Tucker wants the baby to be a boy and wants to name it Frog. LOL

My grandpa died last week and the funeral is tomorrow, then DH and I are off on a long weekend for our 10th anniversary so I will be scarce over the next week!

Hi Amber!

Halloween was fun for the kids, not so much fun for the parents, lol. There was a little attitude from them and we don't play that game so we went 2 blocks and then home.

Weight is still holding steady between 225-227

Yay on the weight! That's really great. I'm super impressed. Halloween is never as much fun for the adults. I'm sure your kids got enough candy to last a year even with it being cut short.

Hey Amber! We have been in the midst of sickness hell. Austen had a fever of over 104, then Tucker got it, then Ryan got it, then I got it, and now Tucker has it again. Chloe is the only escapee so far and I hope it stays that way!

My weight was 226 this morning so still holding steady, I am 17 wks and I have my big sono next Thursday!

Thank you, Jenn. He was a wonderful man.

Amber, I am super nervous! This baby does not move much at all (or maybe I just don't feel it since I started out fatter than normal, ha) so I am a little worried. I don't think Ryan will be able to go so I'm trying to decide if I want to invite someone along just in case there is bad news. plus, my doctor keeps mentioning my "advanced maternal age". Good grief, I am 35 not 80

How'd it go today? I've been thinking about you!! (((hugs))) I hope you saw a very healthy, happy little baby in there.

Also, my sister didn't feel her baby move much until week 22 and she started around 150 and didn't have any reason for the lack of movement/feeling. I didn't feel DS move much until 20 weeks and then it was faint. But my placenta was blocking a bunch of the movements since it was on the front...

Hi Amber! How are you? I think I might owe you an email, so sorry, I have been so sick!

Happy, healthy, ornery baby GIRL! We weren't gonna find out but DH wanted to at the last minute. So happy and excited and Chloe is over the moon!

Hi girls! I am starting to feel baby girl moving a little more now, so that's nice and reassuring. I also got tested for gestational diabetes last week and according to the glucose test AND my A1c, I do NOT have it! I am hesitant to totally believe it though...

Good news about the GD! And a girl...how exciting! Both of my girls are so completely different.

Is everyone in the household well? No sickies?

Are you discussing baby names yet? lol

Jenn~We are still fighting the sickies. I took my oldest in for a strep test this morning, it was negative so now they will culture it to verify. I just want us all healthy at the same time!

Amber~you know me, super secretive on names! The front runner right now for a first name is one syllable and our last name is 3 syllables so I am drawing a blank on what sounds good as a middle name. Would love suggestions!

Okay, I so don't know your last name, but I'm imagining something like:
Kate Winchester. I think it could be easily long or short. It could flow really nice like:
Kate Elizabeth Winchester.
Kate Olivia Winchester.
Kate Rose Winchester.

So I'm totally no help and sound so English. haha

Wow, I haven't been on my journal in a while! Oops!

On the name front, I have my name picked but my DH *hates* it. I am holding out hope that he will come around because it is the name, the one I get excited about when I think of her. He really does not like it at all though so it will be an uphill battle.

At my last OB appt. I was up 4 pounds total and according to my scale I am up 4 more. The dr. said I should gain about a pound a week from now on so I guess I am on track, but I sure don't like to see the scale as high as it is. My next appt is next Monday and I am seeing a new doctor. I am also 100% sure I have developed gestational diabetes now. My fasting numbers have been around 126 so it looks like I am headed for meds. I am going to ask if I can skip having another glucola test and just go straight to the meds since I have been taking my blood sugar and know what it's doing means GD.

I am getting a little stressed. We are building a house and I am getting very nervous that we won't be in it by the time the baby is here.

I love what you wrote in Gracie's journal about your daughter having a growth spurt. It made me "awww" out loud.

I'm sorry your husband doesn't love the name. Hopefully he'll come around or you can use it as her middle and then start calling her that immediately. Good luck with the GD. At least you know how to manage it and know what to expect going forward. It's almost over!! Hang in there!!!

And I want house updates. What's the status. What does the house look like? What fun details are you most excited about?
