F & V day sounds so fresh, cool, and good! I've been craving produce lately too, and all that the summer months offer is so delicious. Enjoy this F&V day!

Good Morning Carol & Monica!

Monica we have tomatoes, too..and Japanese cukes. Cukes give me a belly ache but I love tomatoes! My Mom used to make fried green tomatoes for me, I never learned how to do it.

Yesterday was a really good day! I had bananas & applesauce for Breakfast. Garden salad and minestrone soup for lunch. A plate of sliced of home grown tomatoes w/ salt & pepper for a snack. Dinner was steamed vegetables & w/ Asian sauce (broccoli, cauliflower & carrots), fresh corn (yes I think fresh corn is a vegetable) and a big bowl of fresh cherries & sliced banana for dessert!

Today is and tomorrow will be UD's and one of the weekend days will be a DD, unless it just doesn't present itself.

Feeling very tired this morning. One of my dogs has a hot spot by her tail and woke me up at 3:30 (again) moaning and groaning and trying to 'itch it'. I got up and found some medicine for the itchy spot and she finally calmed down. It's the liquid that you use a cotton ball to apply. I'm getting spray bottle today! The GG's are here and we are having lunch out with my Bestie...then a trip to Petsmart.

Your F & V day sounds delicious. Yes, corn is a vegetable. We can pretend, can't we? Well, at any rate, it's produce.

Poor doggie with the hot spot. Those are miserable! Does she have to wear the "cone of shame"?

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Carol I figure fresh corn is a veggie, it can be eaten with minor preparation. Once it's turned into grit or popcorn or cornmeal then it can be a grain.

The dog needs no cone as she is a bit of a sausage and cannot chew the area in question...I will be getting some stuff today to help because Benadryl is not working. Yep you can give Benadryl to dogs, by weight. But it's not doing anything at all. She has been so miserable and is taking me down with her.....

We had the best fresh. Ron last night with our steak! I can only get corn like that when we are in CA, so indulge once in a while!

If you have not see this thread, have a look...

MCT Oil--both DDs and UDs

This is based on a post she made on another thread. Some JUDDDers are trying this. I've been doing it for quite a while.

Have a great 4th. Hubby is grilling 100 hotdogs for our tenants! We've never been here for the party, but with the manager gone, he is taking over! Should be fun....

Hey SEA B!!

Fresh corn is truly delicious, especially right now. Your hot dog BBQ sounds daunting!

I checked out Ouizoid's thread. Very interesting! Do you do this? I'm a little concerned about 'eating' oil, I have so many issues already. I tried the Ketogenic diet, late last year and my cholesterol shot up 40 pts! Doc was squawking Lipitor and I told her NO. It dropped back down to the still too high number (240) and I've been trying to up my F & V intake to maybe get it to move down. So far I have been successful at keeping my DD calories low, but MCT oil is a good option if I start getting too hungry to intermittent fast.

Big BBQ myself today. Going to a party where DH is playing in the band. Food and drinks, pool etc. It is going to be a scorcher today and I do feel sorry for the Hubs....he hates the heat.

Yes, I do use coocnut oil. It is always liquid in Hawaii and during the summer at our place in No. CA ( it's over 100 at the moment) I have a small jar that I use just for me and take a small sip of it every so often. It does seem to help with hunger.

I don't really taste it and it goes down very fast. Higher Cholestrol is a problem. I know Leo41 said she could not have the extra oil at all. I eat a lot of salads with Chicken so do not get a lot of other oils in my diet.

Hope your hubby didn't melt today. Our BBQ doesn't start until 6:00 PM, so am hoping for a bit of a breeze by then!

I know I know..... It's still summer and I'm back.

I've really missed you girls and have felt pretty lonely without your company. Luckily I've been busy with this and that and have taken care of some health business and some SIL business.

First off: I got the 'cancer thing' on my head taken care of...I have 6 staples in my head but the cancer is gone and I'm on the mend. I'm so relieved to have that over with, except for getting the staples out in August.

I was able to transfer my SIL's car into my name after the mandated 40 day wait. It took half a day to get all of my paperwork & forms together, and two weeks for my DMV appointment.... so that it all went so smoothly my DH was amazed!

I've had the GG's 4 days a week and that's been good, too. They are sweet and fun. I'm off work this week and I'm seriously considering not going back. I only work 3 lunch shifts a week anyway...at minimum wage and tips, I think I can do better. Not really sure what I want to do but I would love to take another watercolor class and maybe do some volunteer work. Right now I'm busy with the grand girls all week anyway.

Eating has been strange...I've successfully tried to eat mostly plant based for the last three weeks or so...some days it's really satisfying and some days it's just boring. My son in law turned thirty last weekend with the obligatory BIG 3-0 party. I went early to help my daughter get set up and it was a huge success. At least 40 people. I literally did the "Irish Goodbye" at 10pm...sneaking out with only a word to the birthday boy. I was done in and could not stand one more minute of revelry. My husband came home at 2:30am so it was a really good party.

I don't know know what I'm doing in the food department. All of my 'numbers' were not that great at my last blood work check-up. I'm confused as to the healthiest way to eat...I still want to lose weight of course but now I want to lose it without doing further damage to myself. It is a confusing time. Having a cancer scare (actually two if you count the thyroid thing last year) is enough to upset the balance...I really don't know what to do. I welcome any advice or comments.

It's always good to see you popping in the chat with us, Blonde! I'm so glad you've had the "head" procedure and are healing up from that. I don't know what to tell you about eating plans. It is so overwhelming and frustrating when you know there may be issues, but you don't entirely trust or agree with the standard medical advice out there. I want so much to find a physician with an open mind who doesn't automatically poo-poo anything that goes outside of the old party line, like LC or ADF or whatever. And who doesn't want to hand out an Rx for every little thing.

I'm glad you're enjoying the GGs and contemplating some rewarding activities for yourself. You deserve it, my sweet friend!

I am glad to hear you have the cancer gone and are starting to heal! That is a huge thing to get behind you.

Nice to have you back! Glad the other situations are resolved.

How to eat for health? That really is the $64,000 dollar question, isn't it? If one thing worked we would all be healthy and slim and not have these friendships!

We just spent the last 2 days in the wine country with friends who have a beautiful vineyard property. Wine is definitely their thing. After several bottles each day we came home to our weight being down! Go figure that one out. The food was mostly low carb - good steaks and salads.

I read about the 1MAD diet - one meal a day. Hubby has basically been doing that and is down 15 pounds. Men - why can't our Metabolismm work the same way? He is also very busy every day so doesn't think about food. We had to go buy some new slacks as the ones we brought were falling off!

Getting some hobby time in might be just what you need. Projects that are satisfying are always fun.

You will do what is best for you, I know that.

Hi Carol and Monica!! Yep, I can't stay away...miss all my friends too much.

Hi SeaBree! I love a good bottle of wine! Not an expert by any definition but I know the difference between good wine and swill. There is something so lovely and earthy about it, my only regret is the tannins are too heat producing for me to enjoy it in the summer. My favorite is Red... your visit sounds amazing! How much longer before you return to Paradise?

Oh Girls, yeah, I don't know what to do, food wise. It seems the more I read the more confused I become. I've been around this block before...round and round. Right now I'm just sticking to whole foods as much as possible. I KNOW that JUDDD works for me, and I was doing 5:2 for awhile. If I can get in the groove this would work for me...just need to get there.....again.

It's going to be very hot today with humidity...gross.

UCK! Hot and humid is baaaaaaad. Here it's pretty much just hot (thankfully, here when the temp goes too far up, the humidity just can't stay high). Take it easy today and stay cool.

We're in No. CA for a little over a week, then we head to Europe for a month. That's where the diet will be out the door! At least we are both at weights that are comfortable now, so it shouldn't be too bad........hopefully! We'll come back to CA for a couple more weeks. I'll finally get home later in September. We'll be ready to recoup from everything!

I am always amazed at how fortunate I am to be able to do all of the things we do. I never take anything for granted!

In the high 90's here today. I had a great water workout this morning.

If you can get JUDDD to work for you, you won't feel like you are being denied anything you like......except food on DD!

Hi kids....

It was so hot and muggy here last night, we never turned off the AC. This morning it thundered and poured much needed rain on San Diego County...but now the sun is out and the steam is rising. I need more sleep than I got. I guess I'm a bit cranky.

SeaBree I do see JUDDD in my near future, along with my extra F&V's. I am in the mood for quick quick fast fast but I know that is not going to happen....

I've never been to Europe but I'll bet it is a stunner! Have a wonderful time there!
