I'm glad you're feeling better about things. And I'm sure having a nice, relaxing weekend like you did helped a lot. Walks are the best. Lunch in the park sounds so good. And baby geese! Too cute!

Good luck with your work schedule. Think of it as your workout. I know serving in a restaurant can be physically demanding!

Hey Girlfriends~

I'm so sorry for being so lame. I have to admit that I'm doing the ostrich thing, head firmly in the sand. I'm having a very difficult time getting a grip, but I'm working on it every day. There is nothing specific that is wrong, just a combo of so many things that I can hardly believe it. I need to sort them one by one. and am considering a LOA from work so that I can concentrate on myself and the stuff I need to do for my SIL's estate.

Some fun stuff coming up next week though. 37th wedding anniversary for me and the DH, the Farmer Dude. (He's the guy that grows the veggies at my house). 40 years together for me and my hubby, but 37 married. I've planned a family dinner out and my son will be missing since he's on 'tour' with his band until July 13th. He got an amazing job offer and had to turn it down because he's on the road right now and they could only hold it three weeks. DUH!

After the family dinner we're going to Harrah's Rincon Thursday and Friday. A mini vacation w/ an 'endless pool float' and swim up bar. YESSS! After that we have the weekend off so more fun, I hope, maybe to the beach. I'm hanging on by my thumbs until then....

I had a brief pause this week from eating everything in sight. This is also good news.

Feeling on more solid ground than before.

DH had a stomach bug and ruined our mini-vaca...the poor man was miserable. We came home early and have been going easy for the rest of the weekend. I went to the gym with DD the younger and had a good workout. That will definitely improve the head as well as the body. My stomach has been not so great either, but better today.

Monday starts summer vacation for the GG's and they'll be with me Tues-Friday. I'm hoping to get them out walking with me and maybe a few beach trips, a week of Horse 'Day' Camp (9-2pm), some Sea World time (we have passes) and possibly basketball camp if it doesn't interfere with Horse Camp. I need to see this as an adventure and not a chore.

Back to fasting, starting with 5:2 with a possible third day thrown in if I feel like I can do it, I've been over and over my options for getting myself thinner and healthier and this is a tried and true, fairly painless method that I have been (in the past) able to follow. It takes away my obsessive thoughts about food & dieting, allows treats when I need them, puts nothing off-limits for more than a day and helps me keep my sanity, a very important selling point.

Sorry about hubby and your mini vacation. There is nothing worse than stomach problems....Hope you are both back to feeling more chipper, soon.

You are such a good grandmother. I'm sure you will have fun, but I imagine it is also exhausting.

I agree with you that doing 5:2 or 4:3 is the easiest way to go. On regular days I then ask myself if I am really hungry, too. It all seems to work.

Oh YUCK! Being sick on vacation is awful. Poor guy. I'm glad you didn't get it full blown.

Remember to take it easy on yourself with getting back to JUDDD. Low pressure. Always remembering that you CAN eat if you really need to. Somehow, it takes the pressure off, and allows me to see it as my decision to fast, not some awful thing I'm having thrust upon me. I hope you can find that place.

Sure is good to see you back around these parts, girl!

Monday~ Summer Vacation Begins (for kids)

Good Morning Sea Breezes! Yes it can be exhausting! Luckily their father has Monday's off so my duty starts on Tuesday. I think the trick is to stay busy with them, and stay true to myself so I don't get bogged down. Yes, I like the idea of 5:2 & 4:3 as opposed to alternate day. It can be daunting to do it every other day and I understand the health benefits are still there.

Hiya Carol! I know, I have disappeared quite a bit, mostly because of my own negativity. It's not really like me to complain and complain some more and lately it's like...pull my string and off I go on a tangent... Not that we don't all get negative sometimes, I just get really tired of hearing myself B*t*ch. I needed to get my head on straight(er).

You are so right! High pressure to complete a DD is not a good way to operate. That has been an issue before. My hope is that doing 5:2 I'll be more conscientious on my DD and less frustrated.

I had a good DD yesterday. I ate once at 4:00pm. Chicken and romaine, right around 300 calories. I drank lots of water and had black coffee, iced about 2pm. I was asleep in the chair before 10pm and went on to bed. Funny how DD's tend to end in a early bedtime for me. I'm planning on having my 2nd DD on Wednesday.

Yesterday at the gym I walked for an hour at a #8 incline. Wow did I work up a sweat! Work today at the restaurant, so no gym for me. Just serving food is a great way to get sweaty....

Monica my youngest has been calling me before she leaves to go to the gym, just to see if I'm interested. If I say yes and she swings by to pick me, and drops off her little dogs for a play date with mine...I've been saying yes every time lately. it feels good to have a gym buddy. Of course with summer & the GG's here I'll need to get more creative... Yes they do like to come here, so much so that they don't want to go to the Boys and Girls Club at all.
That can be difficult some days. I'm hoping they'll let me drop them for a couple of hours so I can get in my gym time.

Completed DD 2 for this week.

I had a 300 calorie DD yesterday with one meal of steamed veggies: carrots, cauli, broccoli and asparagus w/ lemon, salt and pepper. Probable not quite 300 because I couldn't eat it all. Slept like a rock.

GG's are going to the park with me this morning for a walk and a play date!

Woke up totally hungry today, having coffee before I decide what to eat.

Planning a third DD sometime this week...maybe Saturday.

Mornin' Friends!

Had a fun day with the girls yesterday. We went to the park to walk and play for awhile and then later in the day we went swimming at their pool. I got in the water too and had a wonderful time making them scream when I was "Marco" of Marco Polo. Came home and had spaghetti that I had made in the cool of the morning and stuck in the fridge for later. You might say "No, don't do that" but it's way to hot to boil water at 5:00 PM. It was good, covered in Parmesan cheese.

Today we go to the bay and I'm excited and also tired.....5am comes so early and I stayed up too late, after 11:00. There will be a picnic lunch and sand buckets, sunscreen and salt water.

Planning one more down day this week, but not today.

Carol for some reason the DD's have not felt overwhelming. I think it's easier for me to think in terms of two days instead of every other. A third day is just cake.

A most awesome beach/bay day yesterday. The GG's were enthralled and no one got a sunburn!

Weighed in today at 226.6. Better than 229.4 form two weeks ago! Three weeks ago or so I hit 234 and almost threw my scale out the window. Back on track for sure. Two DD's and some gym visits, swimming and park walking are the reasons.

Tuesday~ Up day

Thanks Ladies! Things are going pretty well at the moment.

Yesterday was an awesome DD with 250 calories of steamed veg goodness. Add about 60 coffee & sauce calories and about 310 for the whole day. I stayed busy, the key to any successful DD.

Monday was my day off from the GG's so I decided to take care of some business related to the death of my SIL. I got on the phone in the morning and finished at 1:00pm after all the Eastern companies had closed. I found out that they are writing off or simply closing the credit card accounts on my SIL, even the $15,000.00 one!! What a relief. I still have business to do and several Death certificates to send out but it looks like the debt end of the deal will be settled without issues.

Today the GG's are here and apparently stayed up late last night. They are both asleep right after breakfast so I have time to catch up on my correspondence. We have Sea World this week, probably Wed or Thursday and a Party on the 4th. If Sea World doesn't pan out we'll go back to the bay!

I'm planning an up day today, an all veggie & fruit day on Wednesday, a party on Friday and another down day (5:2) on Saturday. I'm sure I'll be ready for it by then. I've been doing a nutrient dense day in lieu of a third DD. It's easier to do, no starvation and no meat or dairy. Fruits and veggies, including starchy ones, ultra low fat. One day a week. I don't know if this will speed my weight loss but the point is really getting in good unadorned nutrition.
