Easy Cycle. Trigger's Plan
This is a great place for me to try my experiment. Nice journal to track 2 weeks! Background is at age 43 had one and only baby girl. I am 51 and going into that dreaded menapause now but eating cleaner has helped the hot flashes etc. Only put on 19 lbs with her. AFTER I packed on 50 lbs. Lost 70 lbs. with LA WeightLoss but too severe in low fat/low cal. that I could not maintain. Packed back 50 lbs. Now I am losing that 50 again. Tried Atkins and lost 32 lbs. BUT I realize I can not and will not eat like this for life. It is not the way I want to eat. So on top of that 32 lbs gone with atkins, I jumped to JUDDD. too severe for me. Just didn't have it in me and gained back a lb. after 17 days trying. I revised my goal to lose at least 30-35 more lbs and get trim and lean.
So I realize I am not an idiot (most times hubby agrees :)) I put together my own plan from what I know and HOW I WANT TO EAT.
Trying to make my own plan with parts from every stinking diet I have read about, tried, got info from others and seen success from athletes and fit people.
My personal carb cycle plan. I am going rogue!
I got my TDEE. Total Daily Energy Expenditure.
I calculated at a weight of 203 with light activity. My number was 2230 to maintain this current weight. I subtract 25% immediately. I get 1673. Am rounding to 1700.
1700 will also be my maintenance number when I hit goal. So basically I am eating like 'my thinner self' and should over time make this a routine that I hope for.
So here it goes, MY EASY CYCLE PLAN.
I am going to carb cycle, cut a few cals on these days to:
Monday, Tues, Wed will be lower carb (20-40 nc) and 1500 cals.
Thurs, Friday, Sat, Sunday will be higher carb (up to 75 nc) and 1700 cals.
I am going to do 2 weeks of this starting today.
I weighed in at 203.2.
I will not get on the scale for 2 weeks (heaven bless me on that one)
I will list all food and be totally honest about it. As I go thru the day I will write all food and any exercise. I will just keep this running for 2 weeks and see the outcome.

unsweet tea, 1/2 pack sweetener
TOTAL 540 CALORIES, 8 NC

day 1 eaten:
3 oz chicken breast 110 cals
1 ounce shed cheddar 110 cals
TOTAL 220 CALORIES, 1 NC

1 cup Diet Swiss Miss 25 cals. 4 nc
TOTAL for Day 1

.. good luck on the 'not getting on the scales for 2 weeks' I have to get my DH to hide the scales from one week to the next so I don't sneak a peak, bit obsessed with the numbers x
yes, it sure is an experiment to see if I can find my easy solution to losing some more pounds.
yea the scale will be hard. already this morning I am thinking of jumping on it, after only 1 day on my new plan LOL it will be a bear trying to stay off of it for 2 weeks.
I sure can't wait to see what weight I lose after the 2 week experiment. I sure hope it is decent. time will tell.

Yup, I am my own guinea pig on this one.
I am also a SCHMUCK. I got on the scale. I tried NOT to do it but I did.
1.5 lb drop! WHOO HOO!
and I felt like I gained. I ate, it seemed, like alot of food all thru the day.
and this morning I felt like, no way, nothing is gone. 1.5 gonzo!
Stop by any time. I am running this for 2 weeks, very strict. decided to invest some time in myself and making a plan I am happy with---of course one that loses weight LOL
I schmuck'd out. I got on the scale. ONE DAY. only 1 day and I had to see.
1.5 lb. drop. OK--very happy with that for sure.
Now the pressure is on me TO NOT GET ON THAT STINKING SCALE anymore until the 2 weeks are up. I hope I can do it.
I want that surprise of seeing what 2 weeks of careful, tracked, smart eating is doing for me. Then maybe I can cut down my stupid scale dependency. If 2 weeks eating good and tracking nets me some good results, it will put my mind more at ease and I can maybe give up the million jumps on the scale thru the days.

I know exactly what you mean about the scale...I know me, and if I don't see a loss or one big enough I get tempted to bail on my plan. I wasn't going to weigh daily but so far, I have caved.... I'm going to go have my blood work done in the AM so I won't eat today after 6pm...and of course I'll have to check the scale in the am...but after tomorrow I think I'll make it weekly.
Isn't it cool when you feel heavier but you find out you've lost!

I know if you don't eat after 6 I bet you have a nice little drop on the scale.
the earlier I stop eating the nicer the scale is, but it is a catch 22 on that one.
if I get even the least bit hungry I can go on a snack binge that is shameful. So I have been eating later each night. 8 pm range. It stabs my snacking in the gonads!!! :)
late night snacking is evil and I am the queen. But I always risk that higher number on the scale in the morning which I hate LOL, but stopping the night snacks is helping me alot.
hope the bloodwork comes out good. Last Aug. I had my panel done. I can't wait til I hit goal then I am going back to her and have a new panel. I bet it will be great. It was good before but a tad high chol. she was thinking meds but I said I would change it with diet. I better get a move on and do it :)

So total for day 2 will be about 1500 cals when done eating for the day. carbs probably just under 80 or so NC
I decided to just weigh myself. the temptation is killing me. I like to weigh daily so while I experiment with these 2 weeks I am just going to do it. :) I will tackle getting on the scale less later :)
WOOT! Down 1 lb. That is 2.5 in 2 days.
I am comfortable on my plan. I am finding it very easy to work. eating what I want and getting results.
Will be interesting to see how the next days follow.
today is 1500 cals and 20-40 nc target
but Thus Frid Sat Sun are my upper days. 1700 cals and UP to 75 nc. Plus memorial day weekend I plan on having some fun and easy eat days but stay within reason to my plan. Interested to see how I fair thru it all.

No breakfast. on the road. I searched for those Sara Lee Low carb buns...the 45 Cal. Delights. I can not find them in any store. ticking me off big time :) So today I just used a regular old hamburger bun. if I lose weight using a regular old bun, then my search for the reduced carb buns is over.
I pan fried my chicken breast in a smidge of bacon grease. melted the provolone. built a mayo, bacon, cheese and chicken sandwich. OMG! It was fab. measured out 1 ounce of chips but ended up eating only 1/2 oz. 1/2 way thru eating I realized....I just didn't care if I ate them or not. So I figured if I didn't care, ditch the rest. It was like I was on autopilot eating them. why do that? So instead of those chips I should have gotten some of my delish black and red raspberries. duh. they would have been so good after that sandwich. (I am slowly learning what I can do away with in real life)
dinner tonight will be light. I am thinking 160 cal. can of soup with some crackers.
not in the mood to cook today :) everyone will have to kinda fend for themselves tonight.
I am ACTUALLY having fun trying this experiment. to eat carbs again. when doing very low carb it was so limited. I love this range of carbs I am now eating. But one must be careful eating this much in carbs. correct carbs are key. those chips were a waste of carbs for sure lol
OK will update food later to see how I finish the day.
One thing is I naturally have days I eat way less in calories. I am just going to go with the flow of how I eat. I am not going to make myself hit a cal. limit of 1500 if I am not just hungry. So today will probablly come in lower just by a natural eating day for me. my targets are more about NOT going over, but eating close to that number kinda so the body keeps releasing weight.

glad to have you drop in! I too am interested LOL I never figured I could eat a good bit and just lose weight with moderate carb control and calorie limits.
I am having a good time figuring out how I eat, how I can lose weight on how I eat and should be ok in maintenance I would think as long as I am eating the way I like.

I just decided to deduct 200 more cals per day from 3 days of the week----and try to limit 3 days to a lower range of carbs 20-40. Today I already hit that target.
YIKES---but not worried. I built in a fail safe in here. I can still lose weight as long as I stay at 1700/up to 75NC ---so whew.
I know I am having 160 cal. soup tonight and NO CRACKERS :) as planned.
I am strangely ok with that. just soup and calling it quits for the day. my snack a while ago was what I wanted. I am satisfied. I am ok to get thru this day pretty good.
I got that mellow feeling toward eating today. I know that is a good thing when it comes to food for the day.
OK will be back again to report dinner (and I best be good) and of course ya know I gotta jump on the scale in the morning.

OMG! I miscalculated my day. I am at 1115 calories. I thought I was at 1525 and done for the day.
I just sent hubby and kiddo out to eat without me because I thought I had no cals left.
what a moron I am! I am always OK with them going out without me. I have no problem with hubby and kiddo going out to eat IF I DON'T have cals left. BUT I DO!!!! I COULD HAVE GONE and eaten light.
man oh man
but to tell ya the truth, it is quiet here. relaxed. no one on me about 'where is dinner?' LOL so actually I am laughing a bit now HAHA
I got some chicken in the toaster oven with a bit of cheese on it. that will be about 300 calories and no carbs
so my day will end at about 1415 and 46 NC (with sf fudge pops 1495 cals)
so I will have 2 sugar free fudge pops tonight as a treat!!!! I got a bit of time with the house to myself and I am off to relax :) and eat my chicken.
Stynger---I am doing great actually. Scale maniac I am---after hubby and kiddo left to go out to eat a second ago, I jumped on the scale to see where I was at. I am 201. the exact weight I was this morning :) :) So I KNOW I AM going to have a drop tomorrow. might not be huge cause I have been dropping, but I feel like something is coming my way again with a morning drop. Yippee

Down 1 lb this morning! I am on a roll, eating what I want, limiting cals, being smart about carbs and loving this!
I was 199.8 on the scale this morning, starting at 203 only 3 days ago.
I AM THRILLED.
day 4 makes a calorie change. for 4 days I will do 1700 calories, up to 75 NC allowed.
I am smiling and having a blast with this experiment. I am sure hoping the 1700 cals. doesn't slow me down too much but I am I am do to for a slowdown.
