10lbs in 9 days!

I just weighed myself after 9 days on a low-carb diet. I was at 210lbs when I started and now I'm at 200! For the record I'm male, 6'3" and my ideal weight is around 180lbs. I stopped smoking a little over a year ago and I just ballooned up to 210.

I'm limiting my intake to around 20g of carbs per day. I just bought some Atkins bars which are advertised as having 2g of "net" carbs but I see that they have 23g of carbs, 9 of which are fiber and 12 of which are sugar alcohols. I hope these are ok.

I've been going through the forums getting lots of support from people's threads so I just wanted to add min.

that's terrific! As I'm sure you know, part of that is the "Atkin's loan," the water weight you lose when you go into ketosis and will regain when you start eating carbs again, but it's great to have that HUGE loss as a motivation!

The Atkins bars are problematic for people like me, and you will have a lot of advice not to eat them, but I suspect that for your metabolism they are FINE. If you have lost that much weight that fast, you are clearly doing what your body needs so don't sweat it! Just realize you will not keep losing this fast and don't get discouraged! *hug*

Thank you Ravenrose for your encouragement and when/if my weight-loss slows down I will not get discouaged! It has now been two days since I weighed myself so I'm wondering if I have lost even more. Anyway, I'm really avoiding carbs like crazy but those Atkins bars are yummy so I hope they are really just 2g of NET carbs and not more!
