Portia's Journal

Just marking a spot for now, lovelies.

Portia 05-08-2013 09:13 AM

I haven't been tracking online, and lately I've been wishing for a place where I could write down my food for the day, plus menus etc. Perhaps it would be better to track calories and perhaps I will do that one day, but for now jotting it down here is fast, easy and better than nothing!

Dinners for the remainder of the week:

Wed: Steak and artichokes
Thursday: Salmon trout and roasted cauliflower
Friday: Show day. Making spaghetti and meatballs for family gathering. Meatball over zucchini for me. Micro cheesecake after show.
Saturday: Dining out? Leftovers? Micro cheesecake for after the show.
Sunday: Marinated chicken with veggies and rice?

Sunday I will shop and prep for the following week.

Food today:
B: Coffee with cream, 1 HB egg, Cup tuna salad
L: 2 cups salad with 3 ounces roast chicken thigh; Greek dressing (1TBSP)
D: Ribeye steak, artichokes
Snacks: 6 slices pepperoni; maybe jello or hot cocoa.

How do you make your Micro Cheesecake?

GailyGail 05-20-2013 07:14 AM

Hi Jes! Just stopping by to say hello.
I love how you plan you meals in advance. I think being prepared makes a big difference.

GailyGail 06-12-2013 04:07 AM

Hi Jes! Stopping by to say "hello" too. Hope you are well!

zipp2play 06-12-2013 07:09 AM

Your plan looks great! Making it up ahead of time really helps!

Hi guys. Sorry for the long absence. I had some complications from my knee injury and ended up in the ER due to a suspected blood clot. Thankfully, it was a false alarm and I am doing MUCH better.

If nothing else, this latest fall has been a wake-up call for me in many respects. I've blogged about it elsewhere but I will cut and paste it here.

I've done ok with the eating - had to change my menu somewhat but overall not too shabby. But now I want to do a real detox/induction just to start feeling less "bleh."

BBL with a longer post. Thanks everyone for checking in - that's so kind!

zipp2play 06-18-2013 11:31 AM

Scarry! Glad it wasn't a clot!

tobelowcarber 06-18-2013 11:54 AM

Glad to hear you are doing better!

greengeeny 07-13-2013 11:09 AM

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I usually plan out in the morning what I am eating for the day. I have never done by the week, but that is a great idea! It would save me time for sure. I think I will start incorporating that come monday morning. :)

Portia 07-18-2013 08:06 AM

You are doing great, Greeny.

I need to set some kind of a goal for myself. The Jewish Holidays are crazy early with Rosh Hashana on September 5.

That's 4 days before I have to get dressed up. I vowed last year I would not go through another High Holiday season having done nothing about my weight.

Since I am quite heavy, and starting induction today, I think 20 lbs in 4 days is reasonable.

So that's the goal: 20 lbs down by Sept. 5. Gonna change my siggie later.

Sweeping off the cobwebs after a busy but fun summer. On my way to the market to shop for yummy snacks and clean foods.

tobelowcarber 09-17-2013 08:27 AM

Welcome back, Jes! Get some nice yummy and healthy foods :)

GailyGail 09-20-2013 09:44 AM

Jes, it is GREAT to see you back! We missed you! Hope you are doing well.

Portia 09-21-2013 01:38 PM

Hi, everyone! Doing great so far - just too busy to post much. :)

greengeeny 09-30-2013 10:43 AM

How did that chicken cabbage stir fry with curry turn out? I know you posted it a while ago, but if it was as tasty as it sounds, can you post a link? Do you have a link? I would love to try it :)

GailyGail 09-30-2013 11:52 AM

Jes, how are you? I hope you had a great weekend!

First, Hi, Gail! Doing ok. Taking baby steps this time, which seems to be working. I will update here shortly.

As for the recipe, I followed one on the nom nom paleo website, but we're not supposed to link it here. Just google "paleo garbage stir fry curry" and it will pop up. I use chicken instead of beef b/c it's a great way to use the breast that still has tons of flavor. It's very tasty!

Portia 11-01-2013 10:03 AM

Something great I read today on a low carb reddit thread:

"eat meats. eat oils. eat green stuff. don't eat other stuff. Eat when you're hungry, don't eat when you're not. Lift big heavy stuff, move around a little. We're not building the space shuttle here, so don't make it complicated!"

I'm doing well for once! Down almost 9 lbs this October. I keep meaning to write a decent post - will get to that tonight for sure!

GailyGail 11-01-2013 01:08 PM

Yay Jes! An nine pound weight loss in a month is excellent. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing that sage advice above too. Hope you have a great weekend.
