Well, after MUCH drama and a scene that almost had me ripping my own hair out... I FINALLY have a doctor's appointment set up for May 6th at 11pm with this new guy, who's HOPEFULLY going to give me the medicine I requested for my thyroid and actually run the right tests. I'm really nervous about that, and it's a LONG drive for me just to get there... so I'm hoping this guy is really as good as I hear he is, and he's worth all the hassle!

Anyway, I stayed on plan 100% yesterday and ate exactly what I said I would... nothing to show for it though, I'm still 157 this morning I'm not really sure what's up with that since I resumed my tonics yesterday, but I guess maybe I'm still retaining that TOM weight? Who knows, LOL.

Planned for today:

B - bulletproof tea, hard boiled egg
L - pizza salad (it was YUMMY yesterday!)
D - simple crackslaw dinner
S - another hard boiled egg, bulletproof tea, and my daily piece of dark chocolate

Stuck with my menu 100% again today, so I was super proud of myself! I decided I'd treat myself to a mini shopping spree and bought myself some new tops and a few new flavors of SF Torani to try

I've got some progress pics to share too! I was cleaning a bit in my room (it SERIOUSLY needs it!) and was trying on all my old clothes to see what's keepable, what can be sold, and what needs to be donated/thrown away. WOW have I ever changed a TON! I had no idea I was THAT differently sized now... what an eye opener! I think some of my body dysmorphia must still be hanging around, because I just don't SEE the difference that much until I look at it like that... but here we go, show and tell time

Here's the "before" picture of me in the blazer I tried back on today... that's Joe Bonamassa next to me (a really rocking blues musician ). See how it could hardly even button up?

Now here's the pictures of me today, wearing the SAME blazer (hopefully you all can ignore how filthy my bathroom mirror is... I need to clean it!!):

I can't believe it's even the same blazer!

I wish I had a "before" picture of me in these pants too, but suffice to say they actually FIT before... and now:

And here's a progress pic today from the dressing room when I was trying on my new clothes... I SHOULD have taken a picture in one of my new tops, but my brain totally malfunctioned until I was already re-dressed and I decided I needed a new updated progress picture. I swear ONE of these days I'll be wearing a bra in one of these shots... I'm sure I look 10x better in one

Feeling quite proud of myself today! Hope everyone's had a good one too

Thank you guys! I hadn't even REALIZED how different I look now until I found those old clothes of mine... I'm keeping the blazer as a reminder of where I never want to be again!

I don't know, I just FEEL so much more confident lately... so much more comfortable in my own skin. I know I still have a long way to go in that regard, but it feels great to actually appreciate myself and appreciate how far I've come already. I always felt so awful before and ashamed of myself because I was truly out of control of my own life. It's great being where I am now, and still looking at things improving for the future!

Anyway, I'll be looking at day 3 of sticking 100% to my daily menu at home today! So far so good, and I'm already thinking of cooking dinner in an hour or two... so no cheats today either

Here's what I've had/I will have today:

B - hard boiled egg, bulletproof tea
S - hard boiled egg
L - Oscar Mayer New York Style hot dog and 1oz pepperjack cheese
D - another variation on crackslaw with 8oz of ground beef
S - hard boiled egg, bulletproof tea, daily piece of dark chocolate

Okay, so I changed up my night time snack a little bit... but I'm really not mad at myself at all for that

I wound up deciding to ditch the last hard boiled egg in favor of trying something new... my new favorite thing is seriously Almond Breeze unsweetened almond milk with SF Torani syrup stirred in! It's like a lazy person's milkshake, it's sooo good

So far I've tried it with the SF peanut butter and it was awesome I don't know if I'll have that again tonight, or if I'll try another flavor... but two cups of that was a good trade off for that egg if I do say so myself! 35 calories per cup and 1 carb is pretty fantastic imo

Down to 156 this morning finally... woohoo!! A new low for me

Too bad it's probably going to storm all day over here... it's going to be in the 70's and I would LOVE to head back out the the park today. Doesn't look like it's in the cards though, stupid weather

I did take some pictures yesterday though of my walk. That park is my absolute favorite place to be (other than next to my SO of course, who lives in another state currently ) and I hadn't gotten to go there since last Fall... I probably walked for an hour and a walk around the trails, and just sat around for another hour or so just watching the lake and the crazy geese chase each other around. It's so peaceful there, I wish I could go every day. Ah well, the weather will warm up eventually right?

I'll post some pictures a bit later probably though... t'was my exercise spot for the day, even though I don't normally purposefully exercise at all

Planned food for today:

B - hard boiled egg, bulletproof tea
L - hard boiled egg, OM NY Style hot dog, 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk with a little protein powder stirred in and some SF Torani
D - ANOTHER variation on crackslaw (seriously, that was a BIG package of hamburger I bought )
S - 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk with SF Torani, either bulletproof tea or coconut oil off of a spoon (if I don't want more liquid), daily piece of dark chocolate

Thank you!! I was excited, although I might see a bounce tomorrow because my roommate decided to put me through crazy levels of stress today for no reason and stress seems to kind of make the scale bounce all over the place sometimes

SO isn't doing well either, but I at least love them

Nothing too exciting to note today... got to webcam with the SO which was nice, but my day kind of got ruined when my jerk of a roommate came home and started treating me like garbage

Still excited about my weigh-in this morning though, despite the fact that I might see a bounce tomorrow thanks to the extra stress. Stayed on plan 100% though, and NO stress eating... so yay!

SO isn't doing too well, but they have an appointment on Wednesday I hope helps them out a lot... so fingers crossed there! That's been eating away at me all week too really, but all I can do is stay strong and try to be there for them right now. It's tough when someone you love is struggling with depression and an eating disorder

Anyway, enough of the negatives... time for a couple pictures from yesterday's walk so you all can see how gorgeous the park is. I LOVE that place, and not only is it my favorite place to exercise but it's also the place I enjoy going to in order to unwind and de-stress too

Here's a shot of the park by the lake:

I seriously LOVE being there. It's so peaceful, and I love being surrounded by nature... even better, I'm WAY less out of breath when I walk the trails now! I can't wait to see how I feel/look by summer

And here's a picture of me looking especially silly in my hoodie... it was super cold out there despite being in the 50's, but the sun went behind clouds and the wind picked up!

Anyway, that was my zen moment of the day... I needed it after my roommate got to me, so I think I'm going to finish up the night's snacks, curl up with a video game, and head to bed shortly. I hope everyone's day was a good one

Dinner for today... delicious! An 8oz angus ribeye steak with shirataki noodles, topped with a homemade pan sauce The sauce was just 2T of salted butter, 1T of HWC, 1t Worcestershire sauce, 1/2t of minced garlic, the drippings from the steak leftover, and a bit of black pepper!

Got some amazing deals on steaks today (seriously $45 worth of angus steaks for under $20!!) and decided to treat myself

First, the prettier picture... the ribeye and seasoned shirataki noodles WITHOUT the sauce:

A little less pretty, but REALLY delicious WITH the sauce:

Yep, I'm an awesome cook... lucky me!

It's been a while since I updated, and I've been sharing most of my latest accomplishments on the main board instead of here... so what do I do when I come back to update finally?

Post a picture of my dinner, of course! How much sense does that make?

Seriously though, venison chop bites seared to medium rare on a bed of miracle rice that's mixed with a pan sauce... one of the BEST things I've EVER eaten hands down. So tender and delicious, I can't even tell you. It was just out of this world good!

Terrible night's rest again (even MORE terrible actually ) but down to 153! No clue how it's all coming off, but ummm... yay!

I feel like I'm even retaining a little water today too which makes it strange that the scale budged... I got pretty badly sunburned yesterday, so I'm guessing that's the reason for the water.

Hopefully the burn fades quick because I do NOT want to be stuck indoors when the next nice day rolls around!

I'm sorry about the sleep! =( I am a bad sleeper by nature! Bad as in I don't need much (about 4 hours a day). You are three/four pounds from your goal! WAHOO! How do you feel ?

PS I just noticed your name is Melanie! I LOVE that name, because of the wonderful character in Gone With The Wind. =)

I've always been a bad sleeper, but lately (up until the past six days or so) it seemed like my sleep was normalizing a bit more and I was starting to feel better... I thought the magnesium I was taking was helping me, but I really don't know what's up now. I guess maybe all the added stress, because my roommate completely steamrolled me with rudeness (to put it politely) last week and now on top of it I've been stuck going out at 5:45am to drive him to work every morning... which has been hell when I've been going to bed at midnight and waking up at 3am unable to fall back asleep

Other than the not sleeping and the sunburn and the constant stress... I feel pretty good About as good as I can feel right now I guess, all things considered That's really just my first goal though, but I'm still happy to be 3 pounds from that! I'm not sure what my final goal will be yet... I may shoot for 140, I may do 145 once I see how my body reacts to toning up a bit. I definitely want to keep losing a bit more, and lose more body fat though!

And awwww thank you! Everyone seems to love my name, and I was never fond of it growing up... everyone called me Mel, and most people still do til this day. I don't mind it so much now. It gets me lots of compliments anyway

Hi Melanie :)

I just joined the forums today and have been putzing around all evening. I like your journal!

I am also hypothyroid (Hashimoto's), and a terrible sleeper ever since I developed lupus and fibromyalgia.

Anyway, your blazer pictures are insane!

I'm having the opposite problem. I was skinny all my life until 4-5 years ago, and sometimes I come across these ridiculously TINY clothes and I wonder how I ever fit in them. I should probably get rid of most of it!

Awww welcome to the forums, Amanda! I'm so glad you stopped by my journal

I actually suspect I have Hashimoto's as well (I believe my mother had thyroid issues and went undiagnosed, which is what led to her early death at 56) but I'll hopefully be going to see a new doctor who'll run the correct antibodies tests this coming month... so I should know a bit more then. It's SO hard to find a good doctor who listens sometimes! I'm holding out for NDT for treatment though, and hopefully something for my adrenals as well. Synthroid is just killing me!

And gosh, Hashi's AND lupus AND fibromyalgia? I'm so sorry you have to deal with all of that, that's terrible! I have enough on my plate with what I've got, so I can't even imagine Are you happy with your thyroid treatment by chance? I know I've done some reading on a page/group called Stop The Thyroid Madness (FANTASTIC group if you don't know it, and I highly recommend it to anyone who's hypo and still having symptoms... it's a REAL eye opener and has saved my life!) and they were suggesting that fibromyalgia is really a side effect of an untreated/maltreated thyroid condition. They thought my mother had it too, and never gave her thyroid a look at all!

And awww thank you very much for the compliment, I'm blushing over here! To think, someone actually enjoys reading my journal and looking at my silly pictures I really appreciate it, and I love whenever people comment. I'm a social creature by nature and I don't know many people in real life who are struggling with the same things, or who are following the same sort of diet/way of eating... so it's nice to meet new people all the time on here

And you know what? Look through your old clothes, and try and decide whether or not the things you have are something you would still wear if they'd fit you. If they aren't? THEN throw them away! But if they are, save them as a reward to yourself for when you succeed in your weight loss journey because nothing feels better than being able to fit into something that no longer fit you anymore, believe me. And you WILL fit back into them if you stick to it... you're already well on your way!

Hahaha oh man... SO calls me Melly too actually And a whole bunch of other silly nicknames that I love, so I'm pretty used to being called everything under the sun

I don't have any kids, but I AM surprised my dog knows his own name! I do the same thing with him... his name is Benni, but I call him pretty much everything I can think of. Benjamin, Bennikins, Benni-wenni, Goober... if whatever I say sounds remotely exciting though, he'll come running. He's good like that

Yesterday was absolutely RIDICULOUS thanks to my idiot body... I won't really get into it right now, but suffice to say it crashed and it crashed hard. And without warning too I might add, while I was in the middle of a park trail. Jeez

On a positive note though, yaaaaaay I'm down another half pound to a new low of 152.5! I can't believe it!

No clue how that happened after a day like yesterday, but I'll TAKE it

Hopefully I'll have the energy and motivation to update this thing regularly again one of these days... I just haven't been myself lately, and I know it's my stupid body holding me back. After doing some research last night concerning the ties between hypo and other illnesses, I'm almost positive that I'm narcoleptic and that's what's been causing my sleep issues all my life. I never knew that narcolepsy is sometimes mistaken for INSOMNIA. All I'd seen narcolepsy as in the past was an uncontrollable urge to sleep... like, people falling asleep in their bowls of soup in sitcoms. I guess I've had it all wrong all these years, because man if it ever doesn't sound like what I have almost VERBATIM.

Not sure if I'd even take the medicines they prescribe for it though, honestly. I'd almost rather suffer! I mean... prescription meth? Yeah, no thanks

Anyway, that's all for now. Hoping to get out to the park again today and NOT have another terrible episode like yesterday... I don't even know how I made it back home!

Have a good day all

Hi Melanie,
I just joined to day thanks to reading your journal this morning. I have really enjoyed all your entries. You sound so cool and look so great. I have done Atkins several times and the last time was last year from Feb to Sept. Lost ins. only 16 lbs andonly 1 dress size. I was so disapointed until I was surprised with a possiable heart attack. It turned out I had lost most of my potasium from hard work out in the heat all summer.

when they tested me to see what heart damage I got they found none. My heart was fit as a fiddle. Not any bad collesteral either. Shocked the Doctor. Well to make a long story short. They thought I was pre diabitc so they put me on that diet. Guess what?
I have went from 158 back up to 168 in 6 months. Bad col went up and sugar went down 4 pt. so to finish this story I am going back to low carb but fighting water ret. so bad I cant seam to get started in the downward mode. They changed me off my water pill and put me on ablood preasure pill and I think that has a whole lot to do with it. Can you please give me an Idea of how you got started going down at the begining? I think also I am relieing too much on Atkins products even thought they sure help out while I am working. Thanks again It sure has been nice meeting all of you this morning and I am greatful for any Ideas to get this 63 year old lady started again not so much in ins. but also in lbs. Love and Hugs from Ohio. Judy

Ps. How do you get the totals at the bottom of each day?
