LOL, Monica. Me too. I was looking for alternatives to carby/sweet foods. I would use chocolate if I knew how, without sugar.

A very disjointed post

Sometimes I get rice crackers which are too bland to eat as crackers, but your peanut butter question makes me think they might be perfect with peanut butter!

I haven't given up ALL sugar, but I just eat very little. The naturally occurring ones in fruit and a LITTLE extra.

My Honey says kombucha tastes like apple cider vinegar! I've gotten used to it, so I don't consider it too tart, although it may be. I guess kind of like a cross between unsweetened iced tea and vinegar. I know that doesn't SOUND appealing, but I love it. It has a little fizz to it, and I make mine with ginger in it, so it has that ginger tingle.

When I put peanut butter on apples, I like to core the apple, and cut it crosswise,so I get Os.

Today, after my Up Day, I weighed in the same as yesterday, after my Down Day. 169. You know I only 'count' the post-Up Day weights, so that means...I am officially in the 160s. Yay!

I was surprised by staying the same, because I felt like I was really shovelling it in yesterday. I would think just having that much food digesting would make me bulkier.

Today is my kombucha Down Day, and I am looking forward to enjoying at least TWO bottles of it.

I always use a spatula to get the last bits out of the jar. It is too tasty to leave any behind.

Another sudden plunge downward.

I hit 165.5 after my Down Day.

I'm trying to enjoy it, and not be alarmed by it In aid of that, I tried on my size 12 jeans again. I bought them when I got my new size 14s, as aspirational pants. I could get into them, but not get them zipped. When I tried them on next, I could zip them, but they were TIGHT. One hour's wear was all I could manage. Yesterday, they were just snug(and only in the belly, they were fine on my thighs) and I wore them for half the day.

Today i am up to a more reasonable 168.0. That's low, but not startlingly so. Maybe I am starting to get used to the 160s.

Of course, being the contrary creature that I am, hand in hand with being slightly worried over sudden drops, I have an irrational hope that I could make it to 166 by Halloween(my original Halloween Challenge goal, which I set aside after a very straggly start[and middle] to the challenge)! We humans are funny creatures. Getting to 166 in four days after dropping from the 170s already would be alarming in any practical view. And yet, it seems so close.

I also tried on my Halloween costume yesterday. It looks great, and I look fantastic in it. I am excited to wear it on Halloween. I only have the bustle left to make, and the hat to assemble.

I tried to eat lots yesterday, but didn't manage as much as i thought I should, so I am heading into this Down Day a little hungry. I will allow myself some extra Green Smoothies, if I want them. Sometimes, once you get going, it doesn't seem that bad.

One more day in the 160s, and I will be counting it as a 'real' weight and adjusting my stats again.

I ended up eating THREE bananas on my last Down Day. I don't think I've ever eaten so many bananas. But I was still within my calories, and they satisfied me, so it is all good, except for my general astonishment at how many bananas.

Today I am switching up my Down Day routine. No kombucha, more smoothies instead.

Thanks, Zipp!

I didn't miss the kombucha too much. But smoothies from the gourd family(cucumber, zucchini, pumpkin, honeydew, and watermelon) leave a little to be desired. The taste was pleasant, but since the vegetable matter is so high in water, the smoothies were incredibly thin. Usually when I have a smoothie, it is thick enough that I feel like I am getting 'nutrition'. Logically, I know the nutrition was still there, but it felt like I was just drinking, not 'eating'

So, I ended up having half of my melon in the traditional chunk format.

Today I am celebrating Halloween by having sashimi. In costume. It will be fun. My costume involves a corset, and I am interested to see if it keeps me from eating as much. I have never eaten while restrained(in clothes) before.

Okay, that looks a little weird. I haven't eaten while restrained in any other way, either!

You know what I mean: back in the day, women were cinched into corsets all the time, with whatever space constraints that places on your stomach. But I have never had to worry about not having the space to squeeze that last bite.

I managed to eat enough on my last Up Day to feel satisfied. No more heading into Down Days feeling a bit peckish! I will eat hearty again today. Doing these food group rotations for food sensitivities, really cramps your style, in terms of eating enough. You have to eat only from specific groups, and let's face it, it is not always fun. I want what I want when I want it!

So I am doing quite a bit of planning, to make sure I have 'good stuff' every day.

I sure hope this works. I have been doing it for ten days now, and think (fingers crossed!) that I might be seeing some results.

I'm glad to see your update about possibly feeling better. I was wondering how this food group experiment was going for you.

Congratulations on being WELL into the 160s, by the way! I saw that on the weigh-in board this morning. Look at you go!

Thanks, LoCarbgal!

I have been at 169 or below for 7 days now, so I changed it in my stats. Feeling very pleased. I may be strutting a bit today.

Which will be appropriate, as after my bath I am getting into my Halloween costume: petticoats, skirt, bustle, lace top, corset, and veiled hat. It is a steam punk inspired outfit, and deserves a little strutting.

Made it through Halloween

I ate lots of fish, and fourteen pieces of candy.

Looking forward to my Down Day today.

Very proud of this

I ate those pieces of candy on Halloween, and then...
I ate NO candy on Friday. No candy on Saturday. No desire for candy today!

This is very big for me.

Halloween was what destroyed my first five-month low-carb venture, years ago. I feel I am in a completely different mind-set and body chemistry now.

It is wonderful!

It makes me feel that I will be a 'normal' person, eating treats once in a while, and then STOPPING!

Hi Flutter. Thanks for stopping by. I am loving this new feeling/realization that I might be having a NORMAL relationship with food. Yesterday evening I was hungry (not the best Down Day) but I realized this morning that I never once thought about having a piece of the leftover candy to 'tide me over'. (Yeah, we all know how that one works! More like a high tide rushing in!). No, I was HUNGRY, so I wanted FOOD, not a treat.

Grrr.

Ate nuts yesterday during a long car drive, thereby using up THREE food families. This is tricky.

At least it was an Up Day, so I don't need to feel 'guilty' about quantity. Must plan better on future road trips- it is not easy to pick up road snacks from the pork family.

Though I guess I could have stopped at every Denny's I saw for a double order of bacon.

I had been planning a fish Down Day today, but right now I am feeling like I want to do a water fast day. Guess those nuts are still filling me up.

Being away from home always presents eating challenges. You did what you could under the circumstances.

Good luck with your water fast. I don't think I could ever manage that!

So glad today is a plank rest day. I was shaking from the 15 second mark yesterday.

Got through my water Down Day. Hungry toward the end, but it was manageable. Today: LOTS OF FISH!

I still weigh less than my Honey, and I am absurdly pleased by this. I feel he should be picking me up and carrying me around. But he's back on JUDDD - three Down Days with no cheating- and I fear it won't be long before we weigh the same again. However, he is PACKED with muscle, so there's a point below which he just can't go. I am mostly packed with fat.

I am so happy for you!!!!!! Boy oh BOY do I know this feeling! My DH is one of those annoyingly always thin people. Yk, he thinks he's "fat" if he's 5-10# up from his adult low weight. <eyeroll> I hated being heavier than him. I remember finally being lower than him and how happy it made me. I'm over the moon for you girly!!!

Excellent on that water day! WOW!

Yay for weighing less than DH! I totally understand that. We all want to feel dainty and delicate, and like he could whisk us off our feet at any moment.

Road trips are always tough for me too! In the Car, if I am driving, I am either EATING or DRINKING! Now if I am riding, I am READING! We are heading to CO in a few weeks, I already have 4 books set up to get through. It is an 8 hour drive there and 8 back!

Recent numbers

Thought I would throw up my daily numbers from the new chart I started(last one was getting too long).

171.5 10/24
169.0 10/25
169.0 10/26
165.5 10/27
168.0 10/28
166.0 10/29
168.0 10/30
166.0 10/31
168.5 11/1
167.5 11/2
170.0 11/3
167.0 11/4
170.0 11/5
166.5 11/6
166.5 11/7

The bolded numbers are my post-Up Day weights, which are the ones I 'count' as my 'real' numbers.

Interesting to me is that my Halloween indulgence did not show up for a few days. And pleasing to me, that it did not hang around too long, either.

Today a friend told me that I am looking super skinny'.

Now, I am by no means skinny, or even thin. But that's the great point about friends who have known you a while. To THEM, I DO look skinny, just in comparison to where I was before.

Pity party

Food yesterday was good, calorie- and nutrition-wise. I resisted some emotional- and boredom-eating. But my pains spiked in the evening, so I am feeling kind of down. Maybe from something I ate (leeks and onions?), maybe stress, maybe just because this food rotation isn't WORKING! Anyhow, feeling a little glum and worried. But I will press on.

These are my suspects so far:

too much sugar all at once
nightshades
lily family(onions, leeks, asparagus, garlic) shoot, writing that down made me realize I also had asparagus the day before. Rotation FAIL! Again! I keep making mistakes. Grrr.
dairy(yikes!)
eggs

I tested eggs the day before yesterday, and they seemed to be going through okay. But that was before I thought lilies might be a problem, and now I don't know if it is the eggs, or the asparagus/onion/leeks that might have done it.

Man, I am starting to wonder if I should just do a four-day water fast, and see if that gives me any relief. Then only eat one thing per day. But I really don't know how I would emotionally handle that kind of deprivation/restriction. It is not my strong suit.

I am tired of being worried about this.

Okay, need to follow that up with a positive post.

I am LOVING my size 12 jeans. I'm starting to feel like a normal size. It is a great feeling.

Soon I am going to go through my closet again and toss the things that are getting too baggy. I might need to do another thrift store shopping spree.
